Since it was 78°F yesterday, it was the first drive home with the top down
day. Very nice.
The last drop top I had was a '99 Mustang. There is no comparison between

far less wind in the people space. Ultra bueno.

permission to take possession of the used car you just bought and wait 6-30

[MBZ] Dragonman and wells in Colorado [was: Re: Fwd: FYI - sensible Oz gun laws]

wrote:

Craig - when you lived out there by Peyton, did you know Dragonman?

No, I did not.

Dragonman was the guy at the top of the hill on Hwy94 east of CSpgs,
just east of the landfill and pick n pull.

The only landfill I knew of was on Woodman Valley Road just west of Black
Forest Road and several miles west of Hwy 94. I didn't know there was a
pick 'n' pull.

He did this type of gun thing from time to time. He would drive a rat
patrol jeep after a car that was rigged to motor in a tight circle.
The objective was to chase and shoot the car until it was
killed/stopped. Dragonman had a front page writeup in WSJ in early
'90's - interesting guy from NYC that moved to CSpgs. FBI would
consult him. He died several years ago. He had a large gun shop out
there in the moose pasture east of town. We were further east and then
 south at Drennan.

Interesting. I didn't see the article about him (I didn't see any WSJ
papers).

Best water in the world was from 100 ft deep well in Black Squirrel
 alluvium.

We had a 523 ft deep well four miles south of Calhan. I don't recall
which acquifer it tapped. Once we got the iron-fixing bacterial killed
off, the water was great.

Denninger's mention of Stevia was interesting, as I'd never heard of it before.
1/4lb of powdered herb is as sweet as 60lb of sucrose, but has potential for
bitter licorice aftertaste?

There have been allegations of health concerns, but nothing to compare to
saccharine or cyclamate. Advocates claim the allegations are fabricated by the
artificial sweetener industry.

It looks like the sweetest, least aftertasty compound found in Stevia is being
commercialized as Truvia, complete with bulk additives to make it measure like
sugar, so a 9oz jar of Truvia won't last as long as a 4oz bag of powdered
Stevia.

I'm not familiar with this model, but in other MBs I have either removed or
replaced the headlight switch in it hasn't been a difficult job.

You probably have to remove the bolster under the dash to get to it, pull the
knob off, remove the nut on the shaft that holds it in place, and disconnect
the harness.

Be sure to disconnect the battery for this. There is B+ present at the switch
100% of the time.

A year or two ago was some PR about making algae diesel or something,
growing the algae in sunny places where there is salty dirty water,
which is pretty much a lot of Texas where the all bidness goes on. This
just appears to be accelerating whatever made petroleum to begin with.
But it is neat.

A coupla years ago a kid drove a Toada into a big oak tree up the road.
The paper had some pics up for an hour or two, and it looked survivable
-- air bags went off, the car was not that badly smashed. But I was
told by my buddy the fire commissioner (trucks responded) that he drove
straight into it, no seatbelt, high speed, to kill himself. Was sad, he
was like 19. I think there are quite a few like that, you can sorta
read between the lines of reports on crashes.

How many of the other 10K are justifiable homicides? That would include
self defense and justifiable shootings by law enforcement or civilian.
Including those numbers in the 10K would not give an accurate picture of the
social value vs. the social cost of firearms.

The removal from society of someone killed in justifiable self defense or
other justifiable homicide has not only saved the life of the shooter, but
potentially saved some other lives in the future that could have been put at
risk by the deceased.

I know, just wanted to point out that a 1987 factory Corvette could do the same
thing as that 2014 tuner car if you turned the boost up a bit on the 1987. And a
1988 tuner car could beat it by 50mph. Hopefully the 2014 tuner car doesn't have

Yeah, you never went far enough south, perhaps. 94 runs east from
Peterson AFB to Schreiver AFB, and it looks like both the landfill and
junkyard are still there on maps.google.

I have driven 94 a number of times, but, living in Calhan, most of my
time was north of there. When I was in the USAF, I was stationed at

to Punkin Center and points east and south.

Thanks. I think something similar is possible with the brake MC. if
it ever warms up I will try the bleeder test and see what happens. I
guess if no pressure at the MC and pressure at the hoses, then it is
hoses again.Pressure at MC would indicate MC it seems.

Headscratcher, but not insurmountable.

It might help, but the greatest positive value of firearms is the prevention
of death or injury when nobody is actually killed or injured. It's very
difficult to quantify things that don't happen. Data I've seen indicates
that guns prevent crimes between 1 and 5 times as often as they are used to
commit crimes.

The recent mall murder in NJ (or daily murders in any Mexican border town)
show, yet again, that criminals can always obtain firearms, regardless of
laws.

Here's a breakdown, somewhat dated (2001). I think the fireatm rate is now
down to 50%.

  Rate Per
  Number 100,000 % of Total
Firearms..16,8695.9.55.1
All Other Methods.13,7534.8.49.9
Hanging or Suffocation.6,1982.2.20.2
Poisoning..5,1911.8.17.0
Falls6510.2..2.1
Cutting / Piercing..4580.2..1.5
Drowning.3390.1..1.1
Fire.1470.1..0.5

Two USAF officers I worked with committed suicide. One hanged himself and
the other stabbed himself. Shooting may be the most common method, but
certainly not the only way.
