[MBZ] vacuum amplifier w124 vs w210

Anybody know if the older vacuum amplifier/blue from w124 diesels functions
the same as the later one from the W210 000-545-04-27? Looks like the
earlier one has four hoses, the later one has two and vents to atmosphere.
They all appear to modulate the vacuum to the automatic transmission, to
reduce shift harshness at low power, using boost as a signal. More boost =
crisper shifts. The later one is called a pressure valve and seems to
control intake flaps also.

I need to soften the low power shifts on the 606/722.317 combo. New
injection pump has no modulator on the side; they all run manuals over
there.

I re-loaded W10 and it ran fine until I loaded the proper (from the CD)
NVidia drivers for the dual monitor card, then it started dying again. It
run fine under Tails, but it doen't  have the full functioning video
driver. So, I'm guessing that the proper (though old) driver is killing the
video, as did the current driver which was there until I blew away the old
windows. At this point it seems to be either a new video card or another
PC. Same work either way as I had to blow away the old windows (it refused
to boot after the PC shut down during the repair process).

Mother knows best.   MomBUSA dictates what is imported to the US 
market.  In general they have as many un-needed accessories as they 
think they can cram down the customer's throat piled onto the US 
models.  Sunroofs, crappy things like ACC, and more and more 
electronic toys and games that fail in a few years, making the whole 
car a flamin POS when it is 10 yrs old.


No K'leb, I am not jealous.  I prefer 123,124 and 126 Diesels the 
just keep going on and on, 30-45 years and counting.

He didn't make much on your $600 if he had a F150 pulling that thing.

When we moved here I had the TD and my old Eldo, found a guy with one of 
those really nice car hauler semi trailers, he picked them up in 
Houston, I came here, then he showed up a few days later with my cars 
and some others he had picked up here and there.  Some woman in North 
Dakota or somewhere was kind of the dispatcher for a bunch of these 
guys, found them jobs and sent them around places near their routes.  He 
bitched about my TD dripping oil, I had told him to put something under 
it, even offered some cardboard but he said no.  Not my problemo then, 
bro.  He had his 2 grandkids with him, maybe 6 and 8, he explained his 
daughter, their babymomma was a crack ho so he took the kids and 
basically hauled them all over the country, they hung out up in the 
sleeper cab, when he stopped he let them run off some energy.  They were 
pretty wild, wouldn't listen as the babymomma never taught them anything 
while she was crackhoing.  The guy was wound pretty tight, could not 
really blame him.

[MBZ] The PA sdl just arrived

Holy CRAP this is Nice Nice Nice. WOW!!!   And it's GREEN! Tomorrow I will see 
why it does not start. Hopefully it is just a simple fuel problem otherwise 
will get the engine out of the other car.

This was an interesting delivery. I figured it would be a guy with a 2-3 car 
trailer or something like that. Nope, it's a guy in a F150 with a rented u haul 
trailer. They are just starting out in the business but got the car here in 2 
days without any issues. He has an exhaust leak on his truck which he currently 
has pulled into the shop and I am letting him weld it up.

shop is more difficult, they're generally in really bad areas.  Luckily I

I have heard stuff about swirl motors, whatever the hell that. It's something 
with the turbo. The 648 seems like a good motor but is light years more 
complicated than a 603 and are hard to work on.

I was going to build one recently, but ended up getting an off-lease
Dell server and adding hard drives and memory.  Ultimately it was
cheaper and quieter than anything I could have put together myself.
Also it came with a Windows license though I recently installed ESX
over it.

You can get a new stripped T110 for $200-ish, but I'm with Curt that
the older enterprise machines are the best bang for the buck when 2-3
years old.

I forgot the use - this is my dual monitor, Adobe Lightroom image
processing, storage, etc. machine. No, the Pi 3 won't cut it.
I ran the diagnostics again with the new RAM - all was good. then booted it
to W10, and after 5 minutes or so it just went black - again. Booted, and
restored to the point before the last update. Still no joy.
Booted it on a Linux live USB stick and it ran for 30 minutes. So, I doubt
that it is hardware.

I'm doing the repair re-install of W10 now - we'll see how that goes before
condemning the hardware.

With 10GB of RAM its pretty sweet with Windows 7 or even 10. Its the same 
machine we've got at home. Ex-video production machine was top of the line in 
2009.The replacement for it was the Z800, the single processor version was the 
Z400, any would be an excellent choice for home use. The Z series are really 
quiet...

said that the memory failed the test, so I bought new Kingston DIMMs and
installed them. It's still doing the same thing, so I'm thinking the mother
board has a bad chip or something. I'm thinking I'd rather build a new one
from scratch to avoid all the bloatware that comes iwth a new PC.
Any recommendations for hardware these days? I haven't bought such since
mid 2000's.

applying for med school I actually taught her calculus in about an hour 
such that she could then continue with the class and get through it.  My

Just go to newegg and sign up for daily specials, they offer components 
for cheepcheep pretty often.  you can get a new mother board and chip to 
pop in the box, you might be able to reuse your memory sticks and 
everything else just pretty much plugs into it. You might need a new 
power supply too depending on what your old one puts out or what kind of 
connectors it has.


The new boards will come with a CD with drivers, you really won't have 
to reinstall your OS unless you want to, so it should be pretty much the 
same as the one you have now but likely faster.

lift hook, top of the main fuel filter holder, and a few other bits (ABS
pump?).

I polished the valve cover on my '87 wagon once, looked really nice for

The point of the two-drive system is that I can boot either OS,
and have the _same_ user directories.  Our one SSD Mac is insanely
fast, compared to before.  This Mac Pro is pretty darned fast, even
with rotating media.  (Which I trust WAY more than flash memory.
Had plenty of experience with that crap wearing out at work.
Flash is NOT NOT NOT a panacea, and your system has to be
carefully designed to match its characteristics if you want it
to be long-term reliable.)  I'm quite comfortable keeping all
the user files, the important ones, on disks.

This Mac Pro has a second drive for the OS.  The plan is to
replace it with an SSD.  Works perfectly as it is.  The original
drive holds a bone-stock 10.7.5 installation, the last OS that
officially will run on it.  The second HD holds a tweaked
El Crapitan, and all the home directories are vectored to
the ones on the other drive.  No problems whatsoever, at the
moment.

Time Machine doesn't much care for _change_!  I think it'll
restore the works, but if you _move_ the home directories then
maybe not so much.  Also, the alternate-drive-boot _restore_
operations, by default, won't have things mounted up to the
point where it could restore to a second drive too.  You can
make it happen, but you have to do a manual mount in the
middle of the process.  That part is NOT even-my-grandma-could-
do-it, but it IS possible.  Not even all that hard if you
write it down.

I can’t comment on the rest of the items, but I can assure you, that paint will 
“buff right out”.  You can’t imagine how well the old single stage MB paint 
recovers.  I’ve worked on finishes as bad as that one and brought them back to 
near original if they’re not damaged.  The oxidation will come out.
