Re: [MBZ] OT Hog advice

2020-01-02 Thread G Mann via Mercedes
Wild pig boar meat is rank. The boar hormones and body structure make it
not edible, in my experience. So much so, I only dress out sows for meat.
Hogs are omnivores. living or dead, they will eat it..
Good hog meat comes from pigs that are "open range" feeding.

If kid(s) are big and smart enough to play games  they are big and smart
enough to learn to clean up and fix up the MBs in your shop/lot so they
can be run or sold, trim the weeds in the back forty so you can find
parts etc.   Oh yeah, clean, sort and organize parts and tools.
Develop an inventory system, log parts into the computer, fill orders,
strip parts from junkers, etc.

Yes, thank you!

But I must correct both you,

      From https://physics.nist.gov/cgi-bin/cuu/Value?gn,
      standard acceleration of gravity is:

            Numerical value        9.80665 m/s^2
            Standard uncertainty    (exact)

      From Wikipedia:

At different points on Earth surface, the gravitational
speed gain ranges from 9.764 m/s2 to 9.834 m/s2[2] depending
            on altitude and latitude

and Clay,

      K = deg.C + 273.16

      7 deg.C = 280.16 K

I think you've made a leap of logic. In researching a hog hunt I found an
outfitter in PA. Thats pretty mid-Atlantic.Viriginia's hog population is
"exploding"
https://www.wideopenspaces.com/feral-hog-population-exploding-virginia/
Delaware apparently has a population but (foolishly) doesn't (yet) allow
hunting.
Based on other states' experience if a population establishes itself it ought
to be hunted immediately...

Re: [MBZ] OT: The boy strikes again

2020-01-02 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
Apparently there are some people that actually eat them. This is a contentious
issue on the hunting board on Reddit.
Mostly I think they get thrown away or left for the other scavengers. Some
people make use of the pelts I guess.
In MA we have to report the kill, similar to shooting a deer but there is no
limit to the number that can be shot.
Dad has shot a couple on the farm, I've seen a couple on the farm but never had
a chance to shoot.

The comparison on price is against Lemforder, which come out to about $155
each. The genuine parts, with 25-30% off list you can get through many
dealers, come out to $175-$185.

I didn't find the TRWs until recently. I'd give them a shot.

Moog means nothing to me in terms of Mercedes OEMs... probably reboxed
stuff. Might even be TRW, take a close look at what you get.

Here is what Taiwanese Lemforder parts look like, which I refused to use:

And it isn't clear what he'd not touch: 8, 9 10 speeds, or some ATF?

obviously he is not saying he won't touch his own house brand equivalent
to VML, cuz he sells it.

So what is the stuff that’s about the same as VML?

Re: [MBZ] OT: The boy strikes again

2020-01-02 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
It takes time in the woods to shoot a deer but I think a lot of these guys
aren't hunting where the deer are. I know that until this year I wasn't. I
changed it up this year and hunted 3pm-5pm each day and I moved around a lot. I
knew there were deer in the section I was in but had to find them.
I did find 2 tree stands, both are in decent spots but neither had much for
tracks around them. I think after the deep snow we had at the beginning of
December the deer yarded up and moved deeper into the woods. I found tons of
tracks another 1/2 mile in...

In Indiana, I believe it used to start in late September, early October. A
coworker at the time was a serious bow hunter, and would go out and sit in a
tree stand for a whole weekend and come home empty handed. As is often the
case, the weather would get lousy with cold and rain, but he would stay out
there no matter what the conditions.

I completely understand hunting, but that seems like some serious self abuse.

LOLAngie was complaining about my hunting "all the time" the other day which I
thought was weird. Then it occurred to me that I hunted every Saturday but two
for 3 months. I guess she kinda has a point...
Coyote season is in full swing. I'm thinking I need to protect "my" deer from

Re: [MBZ] Happy new year

2020-01-02 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
We had friends over and made it all the way to 12. Yesterday we replaced the
manifold on the Pisten Bully (MB content). I was feeling it and took a long nap
afterward.
We got the new manifold in but need a piece of 3" flex pipe to finish the
exhaust. The old exhaust was terribly rotted, had to replace like 2 feet of
pipe but now the folks running the machine shouldn't get asphyxiated anymore.

I also buy a lot of stuff from the classic center, they stock a surprising
amount of things. Last friday I had them overnight me connecting rod bolts
for a M117, they had them in stock. They can certainly get you these.

The control arms are:

1243303407
1243303507

List is around $250 each.

These more also be worth trying...TRW made the ones I got from MB:
