I get 18-20mpg in local rural driving, my best ever fill was driving to
Grand Rapids last year to pick up a clothes washer, 20.6mpg.
Driving to Cleveland and back with the tow dolly to pick up a car the week
after I bought the ML, I got about 19.5 with the cruise set at 65mph.

W163 is rated at 5000lb by MBUSA, I don't know what the international
rating is.
Curt's hitch is rated conservatively at 3500lb.
Draw-tite's hitch is rated at 5000lb.
There doesn't seem to be any difference in the hitches, the Draw-tite
comes with a couple of angle brackets which you're supposed to bolt to the
rear crossmember and the longitudinal frame rails of the truck.
AFAIK the 5000lb factory tow package doesn't have those frame
reinforcements, but I could be wrong about that.

I bought a Curt, and don't worry about hauling a 3000lb car on a 400lb
dolly with no brakes.

An 18' 7000lb trailer probably weighs 1800-2000lb.
Add a 4000lb car and you're getting up there in weight.
A 4800lb ML is kinda short wheelbase for a tow vehicle. I'd get a bit
worried when the trailer starts to outweigh it.

Any brake controller worth installing will have an inertia sensor and
proportion the trailer brake force based on how hard the driver is
braking.

When I needed to add trailer wiring to my volvo, I got a kit from
eTrailer.com. Very easy, pre-wired harness and powered converter that
plugs right into the stock taillight harness connections. No cutting or
splicing wire. I'll never do it any other way again.

There’s a really good thread on the Banzworld M163/4 forum about wiring in 
trailer lighting on the ML using a cheap controller and picking up the 
necessary connections i the left rear quarter.

I did it on my ML500, took about 15 minutes to do and it works great.

I have a 2” receiver on the ML that was on it when I got it. Haven’t towed 
anything substantial yet, only a U-Haul trailer, but it didn’t seem to have any 
issues with it. Didn’t seem to affect fuel economy, either. It still sucked.

Oh and I put a brake controller on my truck, it is some kind of accelerometer 
deal I guess, it was kind of a pain to wire up, wires to the battery then to 
the controller and back to the big plug. I guess the same thing would work on 
the ML, it’s nothing special. My suburban has the trailer package with a 
connector to plug into the controller, you can move the controller between 
vehicles and just plug it in.

There are guys on the ML FB group who tow all kinds of stuff with 163s 
including trailer/car rigs. The 163 doesn’t have the nannies that get unhappy 
with towing, 164s want a $2000 nanny setup to make the other nannies happy. So 
basically you can put on a hitch (there are 3000 and 5000lb versions) and wire 
a light connector into the tail lights and you’re good with Bob as your uncle. 

I put a hitch on the fmr wife’s 164 ML for a bike rack, that was easy enough, 
but to actually tow was a big deal with the aforementioned cost. 

This 99 ML320 has a hitch on it and a connector wired up, when I get the tranny 
sorted it could be a tow car I guess.  Not sure yet what version hitch it has, 
I should look.  The 5k version has these extra frame braces at the ends. I 
think all the holes are already drilled in the frame.  The 05 ML500 will get 
one when I get the title sorted out.

One thing we have going for us these days is that most people have cell phones 
that can record decent quality video of significant duration.  That is how we 
now KNOW that oustiders are showing up at protests, smashing windows, setting 
fires, and the slipping away to commit crimes (usually theft and arson, it 
appears) while leaving the protestors to take the blame.

Won't work like it did in the past because they are getting filmed doing it.

Times are tough for a lot of people, and there are always sociopaths who will 
cheerfully exploit widespread discontent to achieve their real ends, which are 
chaos and societal disruption.

Yeah I noticed that too.  I don't need another project but I could be 
half tempted to go with $500, although it is 2.5 hr away.  Dealing with 
this 163 and trying to get the tranny nanny sorted is kinda annoying 
me.  It could be a good flip though after putting a bit of time and $250 
into it.  I'm getting pretty good at conductor plates now... though it 
could be just the connector

It's right close by, I could go take a look at it if you (or anyone) has 
an interest


Driving this 211 05E320 I am quite surprised with how much more refined 
it is over the 210, quieter, tighter, feels much more solid, doors 
"clunk" better.  Other than the semi-electronic dash, which does have 
it's merits but I kinda like analog, I really like it.  The sound system 
is really nice.  The 210 is decent but the difference is quite noticeable.

It’s got the multi-contour seats and xenons. Those are pretty rare options that 
add some value. Get it down to maybe $3200 and it’s a deal.

special counsel, not to investigate any wrongdoing on the part of 
President Trump’s team…but to simply cover up the illegal coup attempt 
carried out by the Obama administration

Now, Matt Whitaker has confirmed that suspicion during an 
interviewconducted by Jan Jekielek of Epoch Times 
.

TheMueller 
investigation was 
used by corrupt interests within the special counsel’s office to 
threaten any/all executive branch and congressional officials with 
“obstruction of justice” charges if they revealed any exculpatory or 
counter-narrative information during the Mueller probe.


Whitaker describes this as the “obstruction of justice trap.”

Essentially, this approach confirms the second-prong purpose of the 
Mueller investigation itself. First, use the special counsel in 2017, 
2018 and into the beginning of 2019, as a shield (hide information); and 
secondly a weapon (threats) against any entity who would reveal the 
background intelligence that undercut the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.


We know President Trump was threatened by Rod Rosenstein not to 
declassify any information in September of 2018 or the Mueller 
investigation would use that act as evidence of obstruction. Whitaker 
confirms that same approach was applied toward any executive branch 
officer who would reveal or release information to congress during the 
tenure of the special counsel; even within the DOJ and including the 
attorney general.


This is how the Mueller probe was weaponized to mislead the American people.

While the Mueller team continued the same corrupt process started in 
2016; and essentially transferred the same objectives as the DOJ/FBI 
team under Crossfire Hurricane; that same investigative unit was used to 
keep information from surfacing in ’17, ’18 and ’19 that would expose 
the corrupt nature of the investigation itself.


Documents could not be released without Mueller approval; interviews 
with key FBI/DOJ officials couldnot be conducted without Mueller team 
approval; 
information 
could not be declassified without Mueller team approval, etc.


Any agency or individual that attempted to release any information was 
subject to the threat of indictment by thesame corrupt prosecutors 
leading the investigation 
. 
It’s a self-fulfilling safety mechanism.  Even DOJ officials like Matt 
Whitaker were under threat. Whitaker calls it the “Obstruction of 
Justice Trap”.


With that in mind this is a very serious flaw in the authority of the 
special counsel statute that needs to be addressed by congress. Who can 
watch the watchers, when the watchers were specifically selected because 
they would knowingly contribute to the corruption.

Its non-political which I like and mostly revolves around candy making but he 
also talks a little history and about his business, both of which I find 
interesting. They latest ones are fairly short, we listened to 2 of them 
waiting for hamburgers at 5 Guys yesterday. Hes talking about opening a drive 
in movie theater in Tampa with some other investors. I wish I knew somebody 
with a little open land here, it'd be a cool project.

I can’t speak to the rest of the state, but the city of Tampa was under a 
curfew last night. I’m not sure what makes Florida different from the hundreds 
of other places where curfews were put in place to stop the rioting.

Understand that the city of Tampa is a fairly small area within the County, 
which did not issue a curfew. I know that our Emergency Operations Center went 
active last night as a result of all the rowdyism, but other than coordinating 
activities with the various law enforcement entities there was nothing of 
significance going on.
