My aunt and uncle owned (now my cousins) a flour mill in central Greece. It was 
quite an operation. While growing up in Athens, we’d get sack loads of whole 
wheat flour. My father would bake a lot of bread. We froze the excess loaves.

I don't make bread that often but trying to do more of it.

I use a KitchenAid mixer most of the time. Occasionally will hand-knead but 
that takes too long.

I bake in a gas oven.

My ‘14 Passat SEL TDI managed 39.9 on the way to San Diego. Driving around SD 
(where diesel is north of $6 today) I’ve managed 32. After this round of MRIs 
and CTs, we will head back to AZ. I expect 41 to 42.

Yeah I'm thinking I should tear into it and see if anything is obviously 
broken, the door switch seems an obvious culprit.


I had one in the FROG that I think was my daughter's at some point in 
some apartment, I pulled it out, cleaned it up, and plugged it in.  It 
is a completely different brand but the control panel and housing looks 
quite similar to the inop machine. I'm guessing some standard design is 
stamped out by chinee factories in the millions so the bits are probably 
all pretty much the same.

who lives in DC and arrived last evening for a visit, did work at this 
hospital while in med school, and is himself a critical care doc at a 
hospital in VA. We were just talking about this last evening when he saw 
my pistols, how crazy things are there with carjackings going on 
frequently.  Very sad messed up place.  His GF said he should get one to

Vintage matters, the older ones are a lot more solidly constructed,
and easier to repair.  The circuit is actually quite simple, usually a
timer, a few safety switches, and a magnetron tube circuit.  My
Amana has blown the fuse a couple of times in the 30 years I've
been using it.

Suggest you consult the university of internet with a search for your
particular brand and model to see if there is a failure mode that others
experience and have fixed.
I recently had a Panisonic that failed to "wave" and after searching found
that one of the two door latch hooks had cracked [in an area hidden by the
door interior panel] which caused the safety interlock switch to register
as "door not closed" which caused a non function event.
$3.00 part .. $8.00 shipping ... 30 minutes to dismantle the microwave /
replace part / inspect for any other failed items... back to normal
function..

Common issue in the W210s. My 98 has a wonky LCD right now and I can’t read the 
odometer or any of the other stuff. There’s a place in Idaho that repairs them 
for a little over $100 I’m going to send mine to as soon as I can figure out 
when I can take it out of service. You can still drive the car with the cluster 
out, but I would rather not.

The second gen W210s are a little easier to DIY on the LCD, but it’s still 
easier and cheaper in the long run to have one of the rebuilders deal with it.

I'm pretty sure (though not certain) that is not the case in Indiana. There is 
no emissions testing for one thing, so not sure why they would care.

I've never been stopped from registering or renewing registration on a car due 
to outstanding recalls.

I suppose you could always have the recall done, then buy an aftermarket tune 
to get the power back?

be different in different states though.

It's only like an 8hp difference in the detune anyway, probably not noticeable

Friends who had a cottage out at the lake used to have Besenji dogs- at one 
time, 4 of them but usually just 2. They were walking with the dogs off leash,  
on the road through the bush near their cottage when the dogs started to bark 
and they saw a wolf in the bush. One of their dogs ran in to the bush after it 
and they never saw the dog again.

I wish the old ones didn't rust so readily, I really liked my '98, it was tinny 
and un-refined but a lot of fun to drive.

The 2015 is a pleasant if somewhat boring ride. It sure does zip though, there 
is nothing like the torque of driving a diesel.

I've started to bench-race the idea of putting an early TDI engine into a CJ5 
to keep at camp. An early AHU or ALH engine and a stage 3 tune with upgraded 
injectors. Should do around 130hp 230 torques, good for a small, light jeep on 
33" tires. Ought to do 25mpg at that.

Ahh but only money, time and effort get in the way...

seconds, the whole time I'm going "Buster, get over here!" and he's just 
standing there looking at me.

Finally the cat did a double take, realized I was there and took off back the 
way he had come, fortunately away from the dog. I'm 100% sure the cat and dog 
were completely unaware of each other...

I had a black panther walk across the back yard about 12yr ago. Killed a big 
deer in the woods about 150ft from the house, ate half of it then got the rest 
the next night. Haven’t seen it since though last year there were cougar 
sitings on Wadmalaw next island over. Lots of woods here for them and plenty of 
food. Had a bobcat (mama with 2 babies) kill a little deer right in front of 
the house and leave it under some azaleas. I dragged it into the woods and they 
ate it that night. That was a few years ago.

No idea, its labeled "The Bread Maker".

I don't bake in it, bread makers make weird tall loaves that are mostly crust, 
I just use ours to mix. If I make a loaf with it I turn it out into a loaf pan 
and put it in the oven.

What sort of bread maker do you have? My wife has just worn out her 3rd
