Agree, and many of those RV trailers don't really weigh very much. Stick 
framing and plywood with fiberglass paneling on frame made from angle-iron. 
That doesn't help in a gusting crosswind.

in what look like brand-new muscle-bound pickup trucks towing what look
like brand-new very large RV's.
Going faster than anybody else, whipping in and out of traffic, etc.  I'm
guessing that they're new to towing.
Accidents waiting to happen if you ask me.

Once saw a nice new big RV on its side on the freeway, with the new towing
truck also tipped over on its side.
Stater said it was due to too much speed on the corner, probably
exacerbated by wind, and maybe evasion/braking
due to the onramp that was right there too.  Had plenty of time to chat,
while the road was closed.

I have found that a tad below 70, so like 68 or 69 is kind of a sweet spot as I 
am just a bit slower than the speed limit so I’m not having to pass a lot of 
other vehicles except for the occasional semi. So there’s not a lot of drama 
with having contention with other vehicles. And I can keep a good stopping 
distance ahead of me.

No, and it’s likely that the “small oil leak” is related to the oil cooler 
which on this engine requires both heads to be pulled to access it. Could just

Worst case, go at it with a 50-50 of isopropyl alcohol, at least 90% or better.

I would guess it’s the plastics gassing off on the new glass. My experience 
with the latest replacement glass from insurance places such as SafeLite and 
others has been less than satisfactory, too. I swear to this day the new 
windshield they put in the ML550 last year looks like it’s sandblasted in 
bright sunshine. They had a tech come out and hit it with some polish, but it’s 
no better.

I know we’ve had this discussion before but I need reminded. 
I cannot get the interior windows clean on my pickup. The tried and true 
foaming cleaner doesn’t do the job, Windex is a no go, even an industrial 
potion that smelled strongly of NH3 simply smears whatever the culprit is and 
what isn’t straight up smeary is hazy. 
Now that I yammer on about it I feel this issue started after the big old 
windshield was replaced a couple of months ago.  Hmmm…

[MBZ] Interesting Benzing experience

I went to look at this 95E420 and stole it out from under Kaleb after a bit of 
negotiation. I mostly wanted the AMG wheels (with 10yo Continental tars with 
some usable tread) for the 92 400E but it has other good bits too and the 
catholic conversions are still on it.  It’s not in bad shape but apparently the 
engine was not running.  Overall I guess it wasn’t a bad deal, a bit more than 
I would generally pay but the wheels are worth a good amount. They’ll need new 
paint but weren’t dinged.

The guy was really nice and said he was restoring a 190E Cosworth that was at a 
buddy’s shop having some engine work done. Showed me a picture of it, looked 
really nice. He teaches auto body work at the local community college there. I 
wish he was closer!

His wife came out and we were chatting and asked where I was from. I told her 
and the guy says he did some body work on a VW bus he sold to a guy called 
Derek from there. Turns out Derek is a friend of mine. The guy shows me this 
old video of them coming to pick up the bus. That was really cool.  Small 
world. 

I’ll have to come back up to pick up the E420 next weekend as I’ve got the $600 
99E320 on the trailer and going to Bristol TN tomorrow to swap it for a crank 
no start 06E350 in very nice condition with AMG stuff and they’re giving me 
$500 too. Good deal!  I’m taking a crank position sensor to swap onto it to see 
if maybe that’s what’s keeping it from starting. I’m not sure the balance shaft 
has failed on it but maybe. 

Got 13.2mpg in the GL450 towing the car at 70ish most of the way to my 
daughter’s about 220mi. That’s down from 19-20 it generally gets. Will be worse 
tomorrow in the mountains.

It’s been many years but is it just me, diesel seemed like it used to smell 
much more potent when being pumped back in the old days than it does now. 
Probably because of the sulfur being removed. Seemed like mileage was better 
back then too.

Aha good find. I thought it sounded too cheap also but wasn't really sure what 
these are worth. It's defintely using the same photos. A nice looking car, but

Where I usually buy diesel, they do not display a Cetane number, but I'm not 
sure that's the case everywhere.

Drove the 2014 E250 to BWI Marshall Airport last night.  The trip covered
40 highway miles with a fuel economy of 49 mpg.  Added a passenger and
three heavy suitcases for the return.  Gauge readout was 47.1 mpg for the
80 mile RT.

Other than a being a cetane issue, I can’t see how.

Reminds me of a crazy idea a coworker had: The logic was that in the early 
morning, when it’s cooler, you’ll get more gasoline out of the pump because the 
gasoline is cooler, and therefore denser, meaning that if you fill up early in 
the morning you really get “more” fuel out of the pump.

Yes, the guy was a total nut job.
