81-91 IIRC is 126. I never had either one though.

Re: [MBZ] Back to vacuum lines!

2010-04-15 Thread Dieselhead
There is a problem. The 1980 300SD, I believe is a 116, not a 126
chassis. Chuck Landenberger used to have a 116 SD. Maybe someone on
the list does.

The vacuum diagrams should be somewhat similar to a 126, but may be
different, especially under the dash. A 1980 Sd would have the
Crypsler ACC servo. I am not sure if it has the vacuum valve/switch
array for the flaps as a 126 does.

[MBZ] Back to vacuum lines!

2010-04-15 Thread Chris N John
Hello helpers! You responded some time ago with diagrams and information
about what vac lines (colors) were for and we tried changing the loose
hanging ones coming out of the firewall in the engine compartment to see
if it would fix some of our problems: The climate control only works on
defrost. The cruise controls doesn't work. Anyway, the "fix" didn't help
and the car would not turn off with the key. (Had to use the red stop
lever under the hood) So we put it back where it was again. Does anyone
have a 1980 300 sd they could take some pics of so we can compare? Ours
has been changed so much, prior to our ownership that we are really
confused!! Don't even know if the check valves are turned the right way.
And again the unconnected green and yellow lines need proper
connections. Just don't know where! I think if we can get it right, we
can then test and find out if some other repairs need to be done. There
is some kind of a ?cutout switch? mounted close by on the firewall that
seems to be a safety for the turbo or transmission or something. It
appears not to work as it should. Also the tac doesn't work, only once
in awhile when it goes crazy and flops around like its possessed. Lots
