An opened can of sardines in a cage trap works for possums and raccoons. Some people use poison peanut bits obtainable in a cone shaped container from Home Depot or Walmarts for smaller underground animals that chew on underground electric cable. It's reasonably humane since death from internal bleeding is fairly fast and not extremely painful; probably more humane than slow death from natural causes. Hard to find any 22 shells anywhere. Yesterday I saw a hardware store had a few boxes at $10/50 I used to get 500 for $10, so I am not willing to pay $10 a box. Try old line gun shops, gunsmiths. If you have any around. These guys used to have BB and CB pre-obummer. I don't know about now. You can try. Do that, and it will probably be home before you. I would not wish a ground hog on anyone. They cause dams to wash out, ruin buildings, cause underground washouts that swallow tractors, and all kinds of other mischief.I sure ould not take it to property that my taxes will have to repair. They will tear up the entire garden to get one bite from every plant. Best to either trap it and move it, or effect a more permanent solution. They like burrowing up under buildings too, esp near a good food supply, and can tear up your foundation. And they breed like, well, groundhogs. --R On 3/17/15 2:03 PM, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes wrote: A large ground hog was spotted sunning him/herself on the patio just outside my dining room sliding door. They’re basically harmless unless you plant a garden every year (They love the new sprouts). You shouldn’t let them burrow next to your house, and they can be persuaded to move elsewhere by throwing mothball in the entry/egress points. > On Mar 17, 2015, at 2:03 PM, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes > wrote: > > A large ground hog was spotted sunning him/herself on the patio just > outside my dining room sliding door. [MBZ] OT: Advice sought re: jumbo Eastern ground hog
A large ground hog was spotted sunning him/herself on the patio just outside my dining room sliding door. This is my first exposure to such an animal. What should I do? Will it dig up my foundation? Burrow under the deck? Eat all the earthworms? WTF. I have a haveaheart trap but don't know what to bait it with. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: https://server.secureplusplusfour.net:2083/cpsess595060604/3rdparty/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
