Must be that Bosch was supplying both types at the same time (all of my
'84 and later cars 123, 124 201 had splined delivery valve holders).
There are several issues like that (there was a two year period where
some driveshafts were indexed, some were not and some had the index
marked, but the driveshafts weren't balanced using the marks). It's not
as though it's hard to tell. Just LOOK at the delivery valve pipe fittings!!

You are right, The clips and gasket have no bearing. I copied the whole
list from John's earlier post when he did his 606.

The 82 617 should have the newer style pump, because my 81 240D does. (not
vacuum governor) I am not sure if the delivery valves are hex or
serrated. Either way, the o-ring and copper seal number should be the
same. I believe they are the same back to the OM 621 engine at least, and
that is 1960 or so. The mechanical governor pumps are all essentially the
same in the delivery valve area.

Re: [MBZ] Torque for delivery valve holder

2006-05-18 Thread Joe Knight

You're quite right, Bob - this list can be a real hoot. If you go
deep enough into Bruce's pump to find an o-ring the pump's prolly due
for a trip to the test stand for recalibration. The copper seal for
that pump is 005 997 45 48 and the proper torque is *40-50 Nm on the
pipe connection in one step*, unless there's been a tsb radically
revising that procedure to something approximating what's appropriate
for an OM603 pump for which btw the appropriate final torque is
something more like 27 ft-lb than 30 (at least I think that's right,
but I'm miles from home and without my trusty tdm). But then what's a
margin of error of 10% more or less, between friends... ;(
