2007-03-26 Thread BillR
Obviously I have been off list for a few days. I read all the way down to
'Front passenger window' before I realized this wasn't another Windows / Mac
discussion such as was going on when I left..

Tom,

Did you get what you needed on this? I did mine last spring and printed off
the pages from the CD-let me know. It was not a bad job-worst part was the
little white plastic spacer that had broken and wedged-I had to destroy it
to get window out. Also hadn't thought to order a new one, so the new
window rattles a bit side to side now but the lift works just fine. Paid 52
for the new lift from Rusty.

They do get rust in them, pull the cover off the door cover and have a look.
Best to get parts from the wreckers. Putting a the glass in the channel is a
total pain.

There are 2 big rivets holding the raising arm to the gear that the
motor turns. I had one rivet shear, the arm flopped, no action. Took
it apart, fixed it with a bolt (had to do some grinding on the head for
clearance), has held now for 3 or 4 years.

Could be any of a (small) number of things. None of them
particularly serious. The track could come unbolted from
the lift, the window could come 'unglued' from its bracket,
the pivot pin could have broken out of its slider, etc...

Gotta open it and have a look, then it'll be obvious.
It only takes about 10 minutes to open up the door.
