Re: [MBZ] Brrrr! It's Cold and I have no heat
Check the monovalve and heater core pipes for heat -- if the monovalve is stuck shut, you won't get any head at all. Try the defrost, too -- should give you full heat out the windsheild vents. Peter

Of course, my expertise is small compared to nearly all of the folks on this list, so I hope you'll forgive me for not being able to contribute much. I do have a problem for which I need some expertise. The temperatures are starting to drop here in Kansas. We have had a couple of cold mornings in the 30's. Well, the other day I was driving across town and it was in the 30's. I turned my heat on in my 126 300SEL and it never got warm. I drove 20-30 minutes. It was no longer blowing out COLD air, but it was certainly not warm. I kept my eye on the temperature gauge, and it was in normal operating range. It was above 80 less than the next mark (100?). I thought maybe I might have a problem with the max heat, so I backed it off a little and still got no heat. Any thoughts? Donald H. Re: [MBZ] Brrrr! It's Cold and I have no heat
Well everyone seems to agree that I should check the monovalve. Something happened this morning that makes me wonder what the heck is going on. This morning, I had heat. I had it set on the regular non/ac vent mode. About half way to work, I noticed I was warm and that warm air was coming out the defrost. I did not have the defrost on. After a little while, I was too warm, so I turned the temperature down and it got colder and switched from defrost to vent. Changes to the venting have _nothing_ to do with the monovalve, only the control unit (embedded in the pushbutton array). How are the fuses feeding it? When deprived of power or vacuum, the system reverts to defrost-pattern heating. The monovalve is merely what controls if the system will heat or not, under command of the ACC brain. But you still _should_ check your monovalve. It's easy, and is a wear item that is often broken. (Torn rubber diaphragm.) -- Jim

No heat may also mean a broken thermostat. On 10/17/06, Jim Cathey [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Well everyone seems to agree that I should check the monovalve. Might be your monovalve - located by the firewall, towards left-center. Last time I changed it, it was a $30 part from Rusty. 4 flat head screws and about 5 minutes to check it. Re: [MBZ] Brrrr! It's Cold and I have no heat
Try running the defrosrt mode - that forces full hot and full fan -at the windshield. If you don't get heat that way, I'm pretty sure that your mono valve is dead. You can check voltage to it - if there isn't any, you should have full heat. The parts mentioned below are for the repair kit. If the diaghram is torn, I think you get too much heat. The plunger can get stuck, I suppose, which would [-revent movement, so if it is stuck in the cold setting, you won't get heat. It's supposed to fail in full heat mode by default - your situation might be different.
