Did they make a wagon grade sportline package?
If you are talking about changing from SLS to springs/shocks, it
will ride low unless you can find sportline wagon springs (which
probably don't exist unless non-sls wagons were made for other

I don't know about Sportline SLS parts, but all the frontend, swaybars,

Everything seems to work... from the cruise to the A/C. It has a brand

new injection pump, and the tranny was supposedly recently rebuilt (have

The suspension is probably original it is VERY hard to drive in a

Nice purchase.
You might want to replace the close-up of the IP with a new once once the
red-dyed tax-exempt fuel has worked it's way out of the system.
Get rid of the green antifreeze ASAP. Do a citric acid flush or two to rinse

Re: [MBZ] Gotta brag -- Check out my $3200 '87 300TDT

2007-05-16 Thread dave walton

Check the flex discs on the drive shaft and the transmission mount too.
I just changed those on my 87SDL. Was able to remove the center mount to get
enough play to get the drive shaft off - but make sure it does not separate
at the middle, or mark it so you can put it back the way it was. I've been
told it is balanced as a unit.

If the transmission fluid is very bad, I suggest doing a few changes with
cheap ATF until it runs clear before filling with synthetic. Be sure to
drain the Torque converter in the process. Put some magnets in the pan to
attract the little suspended metal bits. They will come out covered with
black slimy gunk. Wipe them off and put them back each fluid change.

I've noticed that my newer cars have had magnetic drain plugs on the
oil pan, as well. Guess the idea is that microscopic bits of iron
will stick there even if they would pass through the filter. Wouldn't
do much for other metals, e.g. bronze bearings. Not sure if there's a
significant benefit to this, really.

I added some foam inserts from MB to the front seats to stiffenen them up a

Got lucky found a factory hitch with electrics on german ebay.
Buddy was bringing in some vehicles parts at about that time so I
hitched a ride for it in his container. The hitches turn up fairly
regularly over there but the electrics are a bit more of a poser; lots
of sedan harnesses but very few for wagons.
