I doubt if even the Classic Center has a finnie as nice as yours, once
you're done.

Re: [MBZ] Spring Has Sprung

2019-04-13 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Springs installed, new sway bar bushings, front brakes inspected and a power
steering return hose I’ve been needing to do all done. More on the blog later,
but all in all it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected it to be.

Car sits higher and level now. I’m wiped out and filthy, so it’s off to the
shower. I’ll probably test drive tomorrow morning.

I need to adjust the horn ring, too. When I was moving the car around this
morning to get ready to do the springs, the horn kept going off intermittently.
Wife came out, thinking something had happened and I was trying to get her
attention. Whoops!

Amen!

Got the right side back together. As expected, it went a bit quicker since I
had some experience. Cracked the bleeder on the right side caliper but didn’t
see a difference in the pad pressure. Pulled them back a little and all was
good, so it doesn’t appear to be a wheel bearing problem. While I’ve got
everything in the air I’m going to pull the pads out of the calipers and grease
everything up.

Time for a short break and a cold beverage, then back to the garage to install
the sway bar with new bushings and clean up the front calipers. I’ve got some
new rubber bushings for the transmission cooler hard lines I need to put in
while I’m under there, too.

Got the driver’s side back together.

Took some work to get the bolts lined up on the lower control arm, but got it
done. Fortunately, I have a piece of rod stock that’s just the right diameter
and length to act as a pilot, which was a big help. Not fun working around that
compressed spring and a jack holding up the lower control arm, but that’s the
way the manual says to do it.

Taking a lunch break, a couple of Advil, then back out to do the right side.
