However, I use only original, Mercedes-lable blinker fluid, 'cause

Subject: [MBZ] little metal (?) balls in the cylinder

When I helped my friend do the head gasket on his mother in laws 84
300SD, in each cylinder were a few little metal-looking balls. Not
perfectly round, much smaller than a BB and each one had a single dimple.
What on earth could those have been?

  Thanks,

  Chris

This is also true. But you see, the guy with the model has figured a
way around that problem and realizes that the Ferrari is a status symbol
rather than something practical to drive. He saves alot on tickets and
insurance too.LOLOL

Seems like those would have ended up in the sump, not the combustion
chamber. Maybe pieces of disintegrated glow plugs? Sometimes if the
injector spray pattern is bad the ends melt right off them.

Thanks for that tip Dave, I haven't got to the testing section in the book
yet, i am still in the system description section where he states that two
pressures need to be compared to each other in order to see how the system
is working.

Yeah I'm working my way through the Probst book at the moment, however to
test a jetronic system you need a fuel pressure test kit with two gauges

Actually, one gauge and a valve will work. The valve lets you isolate
the control pressure regulator from the system. Close it and you read
system pressure, open it and you read control pressure.

J.C. Whitney sells a CIS gauge set that has all the adapters you need.
I'm generally pretty skeptical of J.C. Whitney stuff but this seems
pretty well made (in the U.S.A., no less.) It even includes a bleed
valve for purging air out of the gauge lines.
