Re: [meteorite-list] New english meteorite?

2002-08-28 Thread Chuck

   Hello Charlie, and List,

I once read a study about
suchthings happening. The study went on to say that this
occurrencehappens more often than one might think.

One of the theories states that a major reason might be
from " Dust Devils, Water Spouts, Tornadoes, Hurricanes and from Cyclonic
Winds with enough power to toss and hold them aloft
carryingthemas there last stop,in the Jet Stream waiting
  to fall down.

It was also mentioned that this might be apossible
  cause of major aircraft failures.

Thank you for your time in reading this, should we all
start now wearing Hard Hat's ?

" The Sky is falling, The Sky is falling ! ".

[meteorite-list] Dogs and Meteorites

2002-08-12 Thread Chuck

  Hello list and Tom,
My name is Chuck Jenkins, I am a medically retired Firefighter (M.S.) I have
been training Search and Rescue Dogs for over 20 years. There is probably
very, very little that I do not know about Search Dogs and how they use
their noses to search with.
1. It will take a lot of time for you and your dog, it depends upon the dog.
2. You must find out what metal or compound that you are wanting the dog to
find for you. The Items must not be never touched by you or anyone (use
rubber gloves). You can clean the scents with rubbing alcohol, rinse with
water, rinse and dry it each time before you but it back into a Zip Lock
Freezer bag and replace it immediately when ripped or torn (keep a unopened
one with you when searching).
You must play games with the dog like Fetch, You better not get this and
Wheres the or Show me the Meteorite. The dog must be praised when he has
found it or get's very close to it as if this act is the most wonderful
thing that has happened to him and you. Start close and work farther and
father away from for a max distant of around 100 ft. Rewards: a toy or small
bits of food.
This is very basic training guide, if you need help just E-mail me.
Choice of Dogs:
You best is a LAB or a German Shepherd, note:a Shepherd is not a City Dog
A pointer is a very bad choice as a search dog, they smell warm bodied
living animals not cold item's, there noses are not set up for the kind of
searching that you are looking for.
The reason that the larger dogs are mostly used is, because their noses
recycle the faint smells over and over again allowing them to smell it much
better than the other breeds. A dog smells Forty Thousand to One Million
times better that you or me. Larger Nosed dogs can lock in, rule out and
stay on track to just one scent more than the other dogs breeds. Mutt's are
just as good as any other breed, for not all dog's will be able to work for
you. The dog that will best work for you will be the one who want's to
please and please you.
I hope that this helps, thank for you time in reading this,
Chuck Jenkins

[meteorite-list] Beginners Guide to Meteorites

2002-05-25 Thread Chuck

  Hello all,
I am putting together a Site ( with a little help from my friends ) for all
the new people interested in, and starting out in the World of Meteorites.
What I need from all of you, is what Services that you will offer to help
them. I do not want Link's to Dealers, for they must request to be listed
on the site, I will need the original Sources/Link's of all information you
provide. I will want all Dealers to E-mail me if you want to sell to the
person just starting out. I will list your Ebay auctions if you send them to
me and if the are for the beginner. This is some want a screen to help them
start out and lessen their hesitance from in Buying.
Original Information needed about Meteorites: Help with Field/Home ID,
Sources of Cutting and Restoration, Sources of Field and Home Equipment to
buy, MW Sources, Good Sources for Sites and Locations to try, etc. Please
remember, that this a Beginners How To .
Dealers, maybe you could offer beginners a sample ID kit, with Photos and
Samples at your site ?. This will not only help you, but You the Dealers
will profit from an educated Buyer !. It's up to you to cast out the line
and reel them in.
There is way to much scattered information out there, and it needs to me put
into a one source pool that can be drawn from. You are all losing Many, Many
Customers daily, because, they all feel intimated and lost whey they begin.
Even tho Many of you have Great information at your site's, it's not a
Complete Source and it leaves them still wandering about with no direction
to help them.
Thank you for your time in reading this, Chuck

Re: [meteorite-list] why worry?

2002-05-21 Thread Chuck

   Hello All and Dirk,
I would like to reply to this one.
First of all, "YES" we have to be concerned what is sold on
ebay. MW sold to the Public hurts not only you, but anyone trying to make
a repetition as a honest Dealer, a flood on the market of bad sells with
MW could do serious damage to the manyDealers selling on ebay.
What's not sold on ebay is up to the Dealers as to what and how much
  they want to release.

" Let the buyer beware" I don't think so!. You said " Part of any
hobby iseducation " this iswhy ALL of
you on the list and Dirk, Must combine your
stored-up information with this needed Education. This Information
should be as full as it can, let's call it a "BeginnersKit to
  Understanding Meteorites Information Kit".
This "Kit" ,must contain Basic ID,Pictures,MW, Equipment, places to
search, Ball Park Prices and what they MIGHT go up to and
Links.YOU on the list who are willing to
take time out of your every day toils to do this, are helpingyour
  potential/new "CUSTOMERS" .

Stop leaving them out there to wander alone through the darkness, for
an Educated Buyer is a confidant person willing to spend MONEY, because he
feels good about himself and what he is about to partake in and does not
keep on saying to himself and (others) should I or shouldn'tI
  ?.
"Let the buyer take the responsibility" I don't think so !.

You want to Win something ?. The persons who put this together and
those of you who put it up as a Link, are going to be the
  Winners !

Thank you for your time in reading this, Chuck Jenkins

Dear List Members,Why do we even have to concern
ourselves as to what is or isn't soldon ebay? Let the buyer beware!
Part of any hobby is education. Callit tuition if someone buys a MW.
Did someone teach you what to buy ornot? Or did you, as many, take a
risk and buy something without notknowing 100%? We don't have to be
the Holdens of the world. Let thebuyer take the responsibility. I step
  back now.Sincerely, Dirk

[meteorite-list] Sand Dunes

2002-04-17 Thread Chuck

 Hello Robert and List,
I myself, was out at these Dunes at the time when all the of the Soil
Savers were out there. It was a complete White-Out with 50-80 Mph Gusts,
which kept on knocking me off my feet .. and I weight 260 Lbs. !. No one
could see or hear anything. The Storm destroyed my windshield.
There was no weather report what so ever, as to what I was getting myself
into. Like always, I am prepared for anything in the outdoors so, I pulled
out my ski goggles and full face mask to handle the Sand Storm .. I was very
interested if the winds would uncover Meteorites, no such luck.
That's my report, Clear Skies, Clear Ground ! Chuck

about me having a Virus, it attacked my hole mailing list but, it's all
fixed now, I'm very sorry for all the trouble.

  Now for myInformation: since
I live so close to the Desert, I looked up The
"ALDOGONES " Sand Dunes. This iswhat I found out, The
"BLM" The Bureau of Land Management, Will not
allowANYTHING on the Ground or from the Airto fly or Drive
over a Federally Protected Wilderness. It listed every type from Hand Held to Piloted.
I looked up a couple of hundred
sites and now I can't find it,just look up in your Search
