[meteorite-list] Ad - Historic Falls available - Labels and Painted Numbers
Hello all I have a nice lot of historic falls available from the Walton Collection. Send a reply and I'll get back with price and photo Mr. Wayne Walton was one of the first scientists to study rocks from the first lunar landing, NASA's Apollo 11 mission. His team originated and compiled most of the information in NASA's catalogues, Apollo 11 Lunar Sample and Apollo 14 Rock Samples. Mr. Walton's double major in Geology and Chemistry at Drury College in Springfield, Missouri had led to a Masters Degree in Geochemistry at University of Arizona, after which he became a research chemist at the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company. Later, as he prepared for a career in teaching - his life's greatest passion - at Ohio State University, he became intrigued with meteorites. He began his prolific collecting hobby and subsequently chose meteorites as the subject of his dissertation, Phase Equilibrium in the System Farringtonite-Whitlockite-Forsterite at One Atmosphere Pressure. From this study, new and unusual minerals have been discovered. After Mr. Walton's career at NASA, he taught as a missionary in Africa for fourteen years where, in the early 1990's, he was instrumental in making the discovery of Gao known to the world. Mr. Walton's fascination with meteorites resulted in a fine assemblage of specimens representing a spectacular variety of localities, including rarely seen meteorites like these: Forest City, Olivine bronzite chondrite (H 5), 4.3 grams; Lancon, Olivine bronzite chondrite (H 6), 0.3 grams; Collescipoli, Olivine bronzite chondrite (H 5), 0.2 grams; Jackalsfontein, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 1.4 grams; Chantonnay, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 9.8 grams; Alfianello, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 9.1 grams; Vouille, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 9.2 grams; Holbrook, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 22.4 grams; Zavid, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 26.8 grams; Tennasilm, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 4), 6.4 grams; Bjurbole, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 4), 15.0 grams; Cold Bokkeveld, Carbonaccous chondrite (CM 2), 4.4 grams; Aioun el Atriuss, Diogenite (ADIO), 0.2 grams; Nuevo Mercurio, Olivine bronzite chondrite (H 5), 21.3 grams; Wiluna, Olivine bronzite chondrite (H 5), 14.6 grams; Bjurbole, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 4), 3 grams; Marion (Iowa), Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 10 grams; Holbrook, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 20.5 grams; New Concord, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 55.5 grams; Ergheo, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 5), 28.8 grams; St. Michel, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 4.6 grams; Tuxtuac, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (LL 5), 7.9 grams; Tatahouine, Diogenite (ADIO), 20 grams; Mbale, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 5 or 6), 59.7 grams; Homestead, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 5), 11.7 grams; Barwell, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 2.6 grams; Bjurbole, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 4), 3.5 grams, in pieces; St. Michel, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), 3.3 grams; Jilin, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 5), 42 grams; Bath, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 4), two specimens, 24.1 grams and 0.1 grams; Wiluna, Olivine bronzite chondrite (H 5), 22.6 grams; Kainsaz, Carbonaccous chondrite (CO 3), part slice, 2.0 grams; Mt Tazerzait, Olivine hypersthene chondrite (L 6), five specimens, 75.4 grams, 36.9 grams, 12.7 grams, 8.4 grams, 3.5 grams; Lowicz, Mesosiderite (MES), 23.1 grams. -- Rob Wesel NAKHLA DOG METEORITES www.nakhladogmeteorites.com __ Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meteoritecentral and the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com https://pairlist3.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

[meteorite-list] AD - Smelling the volatiles in Aguas Zarcas
Hello all I have three 40-50 gram pieces of a broken stone from the Aguas Zarcas fall. As soon as I got them I placed them in airtight containers with natural combed wool. Wool naturally absorbs odor, remember that scarf that always smells of cologne? Within ten minutes of sitting in the containers you can open them and get that Murchison smell that was once the stuff of legend. Reseal and ten minutes later you can do it again. I'm not sure how long the outgassing of hydrocarbons continues but if you get one of these pieces it's a whole new experience...smelling extraterrestrial organics. I know the Murchison piece smelled well after the fall, I don't know how often that jar was opened so I'm enjoying it while I can. They are available here on eBay, 10% discount if you hit me up direct. Sizable pieces at a good price and a once every 50 year olfactory experience. https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=&_ssn=nakhladog&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR8.TRC0.A0.H0.Xaguas.TRS1&_nkw=aguas&_sacat=0 Rob Wesel Nakhla Dog Meteorites www.nakhladogmeteorites.com www.facebook.com/Nakhla.Dog.Meteorites www.facebook.com/Rob.Wesel __ Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meteoritecentral and the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com https://pairlist3.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
[meteorite-list] Ad - Wholesale Benenitra Madagascar
Benenitra L6 Fell 27 July 2018 Southern Madagascar As many of you know, I have been working with the finders on this fall since September of last year. They have been very tough with the price and the pieces I bought will still be reflective of that. The money they made has gone right back into improving the way of life for all the people in the town by means of wells, solar, etc. There have been no more finds since December and they are done looking. Not willing to buy it all, they have asked me to consign the remainder of the fall as they move on to their next project mining sapphires. In need of quick cash for startup costs they have given me some room to wiggle. This is the last of it, if any of them interest you we can discuss creative solutions to get one in your hands. Pieces available for this sale are at the the following link: http://www.nakhladogmeteorites.com/catalog/madawholesale.htm An account from my suppliers: HISTORY OF A FIRST FALL OF METEORITES WITH EYEWITNESSES IN MADAGASCAR Hours of the fall Around 8 pm, on the evening of Friday, July 27, 2018. The actual fall It was a peaceful early evening with clear skies. The southern Malagasy part is in the middle of the dry and hot season. The moon appeared on the horizon in its full moon, dominating all the countryside, without electricity, with its brilliant light. This usual peaceful full moon has suddenly changed into an unprecedented, moving, historic full moon and not like the others. It began with a luminous trail, like a fireball and reached a certain height of the ground, a detonation was heard, like a low noise of thunder. The fireball exploded and turned into a rain of fire, like fireworks. The fires then fell on the ground with successive rumblings in several places, and the earth began to vibrate on fire with the earth, like a small magnitude earthquake. It is a frightening sight because it is unheard of and therefore strange. Just after the fall, some people living near certain areas of the falls ran to see what had fallen from the sky. It is with great amazement that they have learned, at a certain distance from the place of the fall, that it is a fall of black stone from the sky. Direct contact with meteorites When a person finally dared to approach and touched the black stone, it was with great astonishment that this person learned, by touch, that the stone was very icy. And all the stones found that night, right after the fall, were incredibly cold, because only a few minutes ago they were on fire. Oh how great was the emotion of people taking a piece of stones of alien origin! They are smooth, in places and strangely heavy. After the fall, the eclipse A few minutes after the fall, the sky was covered with a trail of smoke that eventually hid the moon. Once the clouds of smoke dissipated, the moon shone in full moonlight, but to the amazement of all, a small part of the moon began to sink slowly and it was then that the people of this little community were beginning to think that perhaps the moon stones were coming off the moon and destroying the earth. It was the end of the world. From that moment, people understood that it was no longer a show but it is the apocalypse, the great stupor. People ran to hide from the impending danger. The dark part was beginning to invade the greater part of the moon. Then, the color of the moon turned red like blood, presaging a grave danger for the earth. Then followed the total eclipse for hours. The moon did not return to full moon again until early morning. Meteorites according to people In this context, the meteorites were, according to the people, stones that were torn off the moon and straying on the ground. But to the dismay of all, it seems that the stones gave off a gas with multiple effects, in contact, according to the sensitivity of people. For some, the contact with the stone causes a small irritation to the eyes and makes tears fall, while for others, irritation is felt in the nostrils and causes a momentary runny nose. [meteorite-list] Ad - For Sale or Trade - The Worlds First Approved CV7 - Only Two Pieces Available
Hello All A couple days ago I awoke to several congratulatory emails on being the owner of the only approved CV7 on the planet. I submitted this stone some 15 years ago. It was classified and given the name NWA 2653. Over the years this material has been swimming around as a primitive achondrite. Papers suggested L7, Metachondrite, CR, CV3, etc. As of Met Bulletin 108 it has been finally established as the worlds first CV7. Most of this material went to science (NAU, PSF, UW, UWO, UWS, CIW) to help figure it out. The photography is difficult as I had this polished out to 4 microns, only scientists wanted it so I just had it prepped for the microprobe to make life easier. PM and I can take more photos via text. It's not pretty. They skipped CV4, CV5, and CV6 altogether and came to the consensus that if you had to imagine the most baked out burnt biscuit of a CV there is no room left argue, just make this a 7, nothing can be more toasted. This is the shriveled up chain-smoking grandma to the young'uns like Axtell, Vigarano, Allende... Very little of this 50 gram stone is available to collectors. This is all that remains and I'm keeping one of them. http://www.nakhladogmeteorites.com/catalog/nwa2653.htm Rob Wesel Nakhla Dog Meteorites www.nakhladogmeteorites.com www.facebook.com/Nakhla.Dog.Meteorites www.facebook.com/Rob.Wesel __ Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meteoritecentral and the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com https://pairlist3.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

[meteorite-list] Ad - Complete stones from the new Madagascar Fall + Eyewitness account - Are they hot or cold when they land?
Hello All Back in August I was approached by a man from Madagascar with some potential meteorites to sell. They looked good and I offered to buy them but he wanted more than I was willing to offer for unconfirmed stones. Through further correspondence it was learned that his finds correlated to a fall on July 27th of this year and I began working in earnest to obtain some as they are just fantastic jet black individuals. Without question, this was the most difficult material I have even negotiated. At the end of three long months, and then some, I can say we learned to understand each other better as we made our first successful transaction. That said, the terms to acquire them were such that I may not repeat my business with him if we can not restructure our ability to transact. So for now, assume this is all I am getting. What I did get was exceptional, and along with it an eyewitness account of the fall and subsequent hunt. It is a wonderful account and it helps us once more in our quest to answer "Are they hot or cold when they land?". I will leave you to read it. I do know that complete stones are getting harder to obtain, as are the smaller sizes. After selling to my website subscribers I only have 18 stones remaining. TKW looks like about 40 kgs after 5 months of hunting. It is noteworthy that this fell the same day as Glendale, Arizona. It will be interesting to see if they match up when classifications are done. It' also corresponded with a lunar eclipse, the reason it was seen at all as my supplier was out to take photos of that event. The Madagascar material is being classified at the Musee d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris and Glendale at Arizona State university. Please a least have a look to enjoy the stones and the story. As pieces sell I will take them off the site so please refresh often. http://www.nakhladogmeteorites.com/catalog/mada.htm Happy Holidays, Rob Wesel Nakhla Dog Meteorites www.nakhladogmeteorites.com www.facebook.com/Nakhla.Dog.Meteorites www.facebook.com/Rob.Wesel __ Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/meteoritecentral and the Archives at http://www.meteorite-list-archives.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com https://pairlist3.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

[meteorite-list] Ad - New Chinese Fall For Sale, Yunnan Province June 1 - Xi Shuang Ban Na
Hello All Up for sale today are 10 pieces from the June 1st bolide in China's Yunnan Province. As many of you have been following, this landed in rice and bamboo fields making for a difficult hunt that ended in rain. That coupled with the fact that the stones were venerated by the local residents and Monks made what few were found very difficult to obtain as many elected to keep them or apply a very high value. A few of our Chinese friends ventured to the site and had some success. I was able to buy all the available pieces from one of them. In addition to the stones being offered, your purchase will include a section of roof tile from a different hammer stone, a Buddhist Prayer Cloth used in the region to wrap any items considered divine, and a locally made beeswax Prayer Candle specific to Yunnan Province. Re: [meteorite-list] Stability of Sericho (Habaswein)
Not true I have been selling Sericho since July. The first pieces were expertly prepared by one of the best in the industry and rusted. I switched cutters to one who uses chemical cleaning, galvanic cleaning, high polish and etch, and top quality sealant. Since then there has been one rusted endcut (of hundreds) and it had been wrapped in bubble wrap for two months while lost in the mail in uncertain conditions. I Have handled hundreds of pounds and I say the exact opposite. Buy quality prepared sealed specimens and you'll be fine. Not sure what Adam's experience is with this Pallasite but mine is as extensive as possible in it's short cut life. Hundreds of pieces, 2 with rust. Mike Farmer has a lot of experience with this sliced as well. [meteorite-list] For Sale - Pallasitic Peridot Earrings - Guaranteed Holiday Delivery
For Sale - Pallasitic Peridot Earrings Just in time for the holidays Sterling silver settings with surgical steel posts and backs Hello all As many of you may know, I was a co-owner in an operation started in 2006 aimed at recovering samples of the Admire, Kansas pallasite. The operation was met with great success with several hundred pounds recovered. Facing market challenges selling Admire, a known ruster, our focus turned to harvesting gem quality crystals for sale in the jewelry market. We were represented for many years under the LLC Palladot. Under Palladot's direction we succeeded in getting Extraterrestrial peridot from the Admire Pallasite recognized as a unique gemstone by the G.I.A. This was no small feat, a new gemstone recognized and one from outer space.a remnant from the birth of our solar system. We seeded some of the world's largest depositories but, despite our best efforts, gemstone popularity trends are slow to change and every penny earned in sales was buried in continued marketing that did not bear fruit. At what is now the 10 year mark we have decided to go our own directions having divided the shares of faceted crystals, rough crystals, and raw pallasitic material. I have spent the last two months working on solutions for jewelry making that is both practical and affordable to a variety of budgets and, in the end, have concluded that learning to set stones myself was the easiest way to save costs to the end user. Due to the natural fracturing of the crystals in their parent meteorites, finding gem quality sections suitable for faceting was a challenge that resulted in small cut stones in the 2-4mm range. Obtaining a one carat stone was a rarity and the largest ever was near the two carat mark and a singular phenomenon. That's how I got to here: http://www.nakhladogmeteorites.com/catalog/Earrings.htm I have a head start on production and will guarantee Christmas delivery until Dec 12th in the U.S. and Dec 7th overseas. I can not guarantee availability as the supply is limited but as long as the PayPal checkout for the size you request is active, you will get your order. Please have a look at this unique opportunity to an amazing piece of jewelry and natural history. [meteorite-list] Ad - Bruderheim individuals with full chain of custody
Hello All As our friends in Bruderheim, AB, Canada start to wake up and prepare for the Bruderheim Meteorite 55th Anniversary Event http://www.bruderheim.ca/ which is the first such event in light of the new town symbol being a meteorite... I would like to offer the exceedingly rare opportunity to acquire an individual from Canada's second largest fall with provenance traceable to the finder. I picked up three stones at the Tucson Show and one sold before I could traverse the parking lot back to my car leaving me with two. Prior to these I have seen two others for sale in the last 20 years. Mike Bandli and myself acquired two stones for our efforts in Grimsby in 2009 and he sold his making for 3 complete stones that I know of ever being available. The buyer in Tucson took custody of his, regarded it for a moment and said so this is what a hen's tooth looks like. The finder is footnoted in almost every publication on the subject. First come, first served. How uncommon you might ask? There is only one confirmed person in history to have ever been hit by one. And she had the evidence to prove it. Back in November 1954, Ann Hodges was taking a nap in her Sylacauga, Alabama, home when a rock about 12 inches in circumference came crashing through the ceiling. The meteorite then collided with her thigh, leaving behind a large, conspicuous bruise. Thankfully, it didn¹t smash into her head, or the scene would have been much more gruesome. When word got around about the meteor, the entire town flocked to her home. There were so many people curious to see what happened that she became extremely nervous and had to be taken to the hospital. Because she was a simple country woman, she wasn¹t used to all the attention. It made her frenzied. The incident didn¹t end there. Despite a government geologist confirming that the object was, in fact, a meteorite, police confiscated it and requested the Air Force¹s verification. Many people in the tiny town thought the smoke trails in the sky and loud explosion meant a plane had crashed, while others, paranoid by the Cold War, blamed the Soviets. The object needed some clearing up. Once verified, the only other thing left to do was figure out who the rock belonged to. Of course, Hodges believed it was rightfully hers to keep. ³I feel like the meteorite is mine,² she said, according to the Alabama Museum of Natural History. ³I think God intended it for me. After all, it hit me!² But, as luck would have it, she wasn¹t the only person wanting to stake a claim for the space rock. Her landlady, Birdie Guy, wanted to keep it for herself. Guy found a lawyer and sued Hodges, alleging that it was hers because it landed on her property. Although the law was leaning in her favor, the community wasn¹t too happy about that verdict. So, in exchange for $500, they settled out of court. Soon after, the woman and her husband, Eugene, received an offer from the Smithsonian for the rock, though they turned it down hoping to score a better offer. An offer they¹d never get. No one approached them to purchase the controversial entity. In 1956, the Hodges wound up donating it to the museum. If you¹re interested in checking it out, it¹s

[meteorite-list] AD - Mount Dooling IC slices
Hello all Skipping my usual Sunday ad to get ahead of the hustle and bustle. I have 11 slices of Mount Dooling. Sizes range from 27.6 down to 2.3 grams and the price is $9 per gram. I took huge losses to the saw (40%) but they came out great under the expert care of Marlin Cilz. A photo is worth 1000 words...it would take more than that to describe this etch. http://s1204.photobucket.com/user/nakhladog/library/Dooling%20Slices Photobucket is a little tricky in that I can't seem to label the photos but if you click on an image the tab at the top of the page will lead with a number. Just add in a decimal at the 10ths place for the weight. You can slideshow through and the number will change for each photo. So, 251.jpg photo by nakhladog is a 25.1g slice. Thanks and worth a look even if not buying, Rob Wesel -- Nakhla Dog Meteorites www.nakhladogmeteorites.com www.facebook.com/Nakhla.Dog.Meteorites www.facebook.com/Rob.Wesel -- We are the music makers... and we are the dreamers of the dreams.
