List,

It is difficult having two expensive hobbies. Meteorite collecting and
Astrophotography really suck out the reserves from my wallet.

To help pay for some new Astro gear I am opening up part of my Meteorite
collection to the list. Below is what I have. Email and we can negotiate
price and shipping.

Cheers!

[meteorite-list] AD: Sale prices on everything listed at my site! (Ad: 9/12)

2017-03-21 Thread Bigjohn Shea via Meteorite-list
Dear Fellow Collectors,
Hope you are all doing great!

Due to my unending addiction for meteorites,  ;-)  I’ve set a fundraising goal recently and am slightly more than half way there now. With the hopes of hitting that target I have slashed prices of everything listed on my website. In many cases prices have been cut by as much as 50% off the original listing, making this is a good opportunity to acquire some interesting specimens for your collection.

I have a good number of both old and new NWA specimens listed for sale, along with a handful of lovely impact breccias, and a difficult to find US specimen. Many of the NWA specimens I have listed for sale were brought to classification myself, and are only available through this webpage. A few of these are being used in studies pending publication, some of them are simply rare classifications, while others are just nice full slices of OCs. Some of the older NWA specimens listed are relics from the early NWA era, hard to find OCs often with provisional numbers that are almost never seen for sale.

Please take a moment from your busy day to consider adding some of these unique specimens to your collection.

[meteorite-list] Ad, Sale. newly classified Howardite

2014-11-19 Thread Steve Witt via Meteorite-list
Greetings all,

I'd like to announce NWA 8615, a new Howardite that I purchased earlier this
year and was just recently classified. Carl Agee describes it as
Two matching stones, weathered exterior with some caliche. A saw-cut reveals a
breccia of light and dark clasts set in dark brown matrix.

Petrography: (C. Agee, UNM)
Microprobe examination of a polished mount shows a highly brecciated texture
with ~50% diogenitic pyroxenes, ~25% gabbroic eucrite pyroxenes
showing Fe zoning, and ~25% equilibrated basaltic eucrite clasts showing clear
separation between augite and pigeonite, with coarse exsolution
lamellae. Accessory Fe-Ni metal, troilite, Ti-rich chromite, chromite, and
ilmenite throughout.

Geochemistry: (C. Agee and N. Muttik, UNM) Diogenite orthopyroxene
Fs28.8±6.2Wo2.4±1.4, Fe/Mn=34±6, n=10; gabbroic eucrite low-Ca pyroxene
Fs47.1±3.7Wo4.7±3.7, Fe/Mn=36±6, n=8, basaltic eucrite augite
Fs44.3±11.0Wo27.0±12.6, Fe/Mn=34±1, n=3; basaltic eucrite pigeonite
Fs62.9±1.2Wo6.6±1.9, Fe/Mn=33±2, n=3; plagioclase
An89.3±2.5Ab10.2±2.3Or0.5±0.2, n=6.

Classification: Achondrite
(howardite) with three lithologies: 1) diogenite, 2) unequilibrated gabbroic
eucrite with zoned pyroxenes, 3) equilibrated basaltic eucrite.

TKW is only 109 grams, so after type specimen and cut loss, there is only a
small amount of this material available. I've listed 10 pieces tonight and will
list a dozen or so more tomorrow. Free shipping on orders over $100. I have put
photos on Flickr. In the past I have marked sold specimens in the description.
This has created some confusion. From now on, as items sell, I will remove the
picture of the sold specimens. Price is $20 per gram for a limited time. See:

Greetings List,
A few additions (Agoudal end cut, Allende and an Unclassified Eucrite avilable
for a great price) and just in case you missed my first sale post:

I'm having (at least in my opinion) a huge sale. After 60 revolutions around
our star I have at last been given the opportunity to purchase my first house.
Proceeds from this sale will help lower my mortgage payment. I believe I have a
little something for everyone available. If you see something you like, but
don't like the price, email me and I will do my best to help you out. Many of
these pieces are from my own collection, but as I said, this is the worthiest
of causes. Inquiries off list please. I am IMCA member # 9020 and I offer a
complete money back guarantee on all items. Links are all to Flickr. I will do
my best to mark items SOLD as the sale progresses, so please check the item
descriptions. Thanks for looking.

sale does not include NWA 7325.  The sale will last for 48 hours from the time
this posts. Pictures of all that I have available are posted on Flickr. All

offer if you see something you like. I'm also willing to do a trade on any of
this material if you are so inclined. I'm trying to grow my personal collection
and currently am looking for irons, (slices or complete specimens) of stable

about anything. All specimens will be shipped in an appropriate sized acrylic

2013-09-05 Thread habibi abdelaziz
hello again listoids,
well just a short note to explain, that nwa7034 and pairing has a very
distinctive spécification in the morphologie of the stone
the melted chondrule present in this martian basaltic breccia appear to be
pebbles of martian soil.
wich is unique confirmation of similarity of ingredient of the martian soil and
nwa704 morphologie,

you can see those pebbles here in this photo a little right in center , actualy
there is an other fantome of an other left

[meteorite-list] Ad, Sale. Some nice offerings.

2013-07-06 Thread Steve Witt

Greetings fellow enthusiasts,

I have a few specimens that I'd like to offer, please contact me off list if
you're interested. No trades at this time please.

1.
Mheiriz / Mreira - Beautiful complete stone, 96% fusion crusted. The
back of this stones displays a rich brown, fresh fusion crust which
has a nice write up on Dr. Send Buhl's awesome website, see:
http://www.niger-meteorite-recon.de/en/Meteorite_fusion_crust_2.htm This
specimen
has
in indented area of the back side which is iridescent. Many specimens
of this meteorite display an iridescence on very fresh specimens.

Fell:
12-16-12  Appears to be an L chondrite with a brecciated interior. I'm
dying to see the inside, but this specimen is too nice to cut.
The specimen weighs 89.2 grams. Price: $9 a gram.
See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stevewitt/sets/72157634504943362/
_

2.
NWA - This is an unclassifed specimen that I have cut to show the
interior. The weight of the specimen is 24.6 grams. Appears to be HED.
Price $14 a gram.
See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stevewitt/sets/72157634499264879/
_

3.
NWA - Another unclassifed meteorite. Weight 6.14 grams. I think
this is a CK, but am not certain, so no set price. I'll entertain offers

[meteorite-list] (AD?SALE) Tucson invite

2013-01-28 Thread Mike Miller
Hello everyone almost time to head for Tucson again, for the fortunate
ones anyway. I know not everyone will be able to attend but many of
you will and I hope to see you there. I will be at the Ramada room 131
and will muster every cool and interesting meteorite I can bring. The
last couple years people would come to my room and say dang I paid
way more than that for my pieceOr darn your piece is way nicer
than the one I bought So all I am saying is if you are looking for
something don't make your final decision til you stop by and see what
we have and at what price, my guess is you will be pleasantly
surprised. Quality and value is what we have for sale in room 131
Ramada.
Now just a few things that might interest you now.Or may have
missed in the past. We have numbered Odessa specimens from the
university of New Mexico collection, Numbered specimens of Norton
County from the university of New Mexico collection, Some of the
nicest specimens of Bondoc you will find anywhere from the ASU
collection and acquired by Ninenger. We have a few slices of
Sacramento Wash 002, a rare Arizona meteorite. Also some killer
Seymchan very translucent pallasite slices. You can find them here or
contact me and I will give you a link to exactly what you are looking
for. Thanks and look forward to seeing all of you in Tucson.

Re: [meteorite-list] (AD?SALE) Tucson invite

2013-01-28 Thread Anne Black

Thank you Mike for the kind reminder.

There are boxes piled up all over my living-room, tomorrow morning the
huge white Suburban is getting loaded, and I am driving out of Denver
(where it is snowing right now!). I expect to be in warm sunny Tucson
late afternoon on Wednesday. A couple days to set up everything, and I
will be ready to see all of you by Saturday.

And I have so much to show you!! in addition to my normal inventory
and thin-sections, there is that old collection that I bought recently,
lots of extremely rare pieces there, ever heard of Osseo, Bridgewater,
Cacaria (was used as an anvil), Forsyth County, Orange River, or
Okahandja. And this is just to name a few. Lots of them have been sold
already, but there is still plenty to choose from.

As you might have heard, Dorothy Norton finished recently the book
Richard was working on when he left us so abruptly. The book is called
“What’s so Mysterious about Meteorites?”, it will be available in my
room during the show, and Dorothy has gracioulsy accepted to be there
Saturday afternoon from about 2 to 4, February 9 to sign her book.
Please do come meet her.

Just Remember: Hotel Tucson City-Center (ex Innsuites), at Ste Marie's
and Granada. Room 322, upstairs, just south of the swimming pool, from
10am to 6pm (or a bit later) everyday.

See you all very soon.

[meteorite-list] AD: SALE on Kentland Shattercones and Impactites!!

2012-08-21 Thread Brandon D.

 Original message
Subject: [meteorite-list] AD: Limited time SALE Kentland Shattercones and
Impactites
From: b1dunov...@aol.com
To: meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com
CC:

Happy Monday Everyone,

I am running a sale on a few of my very nice Kentland Cones recovered
earlier this year. Please have a look and see if there is something you
might want to add to your collection.

To mention a few of the current sales:

1. 5lbs Shattercone well developed with ordivician fossils visible-
SALE $100 or equal trade

2. 15lbs Shattercone with horse-tails in multiple directions preserved
in fresh white limestone- SALE $200 or equal trade

3. 2lb Shattercone with mulit-directional cones and horsetails on every
side preserved in fresh white limestone- SALE $200 or equal trade

4. 6 /12lb Shattercone with large calcite inclusion and huge coral
fossil- SALE $175 or equal trade

5. First sized shattercone with dog tooth Calcite crystal cluster-
SALE $50 or equal trade

In addtion to running sales, I also posted pictures of some large melt
and breccia samples far to large for my current saw. The impact melt is
amazing and even resembles a face!!
They would make outstanding display pieces and have a plethura of
diverse and intriguing features. Given I cannot currently cut them
myself, I would like to make a plea to the forum. If anyone is willing
to cut these three stones for me, I would offer to them not only a full
slice of the material, but a shattercone from Kentland as well to
complete their display. Please email me off list if interested.

Pictures of the three needing to be cut as well as recent additons and
running Sales can be viewed here:

http://picasaweb.google.com/103555700843987997365

Make me an offer on anything. Trades for other impactites welcomed.

Best Regards and have a nice weekend,

Brandon D.

[meteorite-list] AD - Sale to HELP!

2010-12-31 Thread Greg Catterton
There was an emergency that came up and my wife and I had to come up with $2884
on the spot.
I need to get some cash to pay our car payment and mortgage as it was money
that was used... could not help it.

Check out my ebay listings and make offers for off ebay sales - I would rather
avoid the fees if possible.
http://shop.ebay.com/wanderingstarmeteorites/m.html
I am open to all REASONABLE offers until I am able to recover enough to pay the
bills due.

I have some Park Forest Winslow Street hammer displays left - I need money bad,
How does $35 per display sound? Cant beat deal on a hammerstone and pieces of a
house hit by a meteorite!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=390262015365ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

Off meteorite topic...
Want one of the largest collections ever seen of Star Wars? $10,000 takes a
collection that takes up 2 full rooms, ceiling to floor of my house! I will
even cover shipping with that price.
You WILL NOT find a better deal, or a more extensive collection. Its taken me
11 years to build this.

Re: [meteorite-list] AD - SALE and FUNDRAISER

2010-08-28 Thread Greg Catterton
Thanks for all the words of encouragement from so many of you and also to those
that have or are helping with this. I will do everything I can to make sure
this is something special.

I am up to $900 of the amount needed to get the doors open.
I should be meeting to view the lease agreement this coming week and with luck,
paying the deposit and rent for the first 2 months. After that, power,
cleaning, water, security/alarm system and minor work will be needed to open
the doors.

My goal is to have this open in October, which will be an event.
There will be guest speakers, refreshments and some really cool surprises in
store. I am looking to have the radio station and local news media cover this.
Getting the word out there is the main thing that will be needed to keep this
running.

With the plans I have, it will do well if I can get the people to it

wait.. its that voice again... If you build it, they will come

Hope everyone is doing well, and many thanks again to all those helping, I
could not do it without you guys!!

You know, the meteorite museum idea
is a phenomenally wonderful philanthropic gesture and
contribution to the meteorite community. I've spoken with
Greg at length about it, and he's very excited. He's also a
realist. He knows it could fail easily, but he's willing to
take the risk. I've heard some rather negative remarks about
the museum from some but still I think it's a good idea, if
done right. Can you think of a better idea, or why this
 shouldn't or couldn't be done? Here's what I see.

IF it takes off in the small town, it would most probably
 work in a larger city.
IF it survives the first year in the small town, it could
easily be moved to a slightly more populated area.
Year 2 or 3 could see the museum moved to a larger city
 like nearby Charlotte
Charlotte is a larger city who's population could easily
 support a meteorite museum
As the success continues to build over time, more
institutions and private collectors could help support this
museum network by donating the funding needed and loaning
meteorites to the museum(s) for display and study.
The museum could be also be expanded and supported in part
by locating it near Universities in other larger cities
 throughout the USA.
Universities could have a meteorite study programs
alongside any astronomy related education currently part of
 their curriculum
Cooperation and participation by Universities and
collectors could create a foundation upon which an entire
meteorite museum network could be founded.
The opportunity for growth and outreach to communities and
students of astronomy related studies and meteoritics is
 phenomenal

Keep in mind, if he can make it work in this economy, in a
small town, with very little funding, it could be the
catalyst from something much grander and more educationally
fulfilling than anyone could imagine. But it will take the
efforts of many people working together to make it happen.

Meteorites for display/loan to the museum could come from
any number of sources. There are literally tens of thousands
of meteorites in institutional and private collection that
could be loaned or donated to the museum. More than enough
to fill 50 small meteorite museums in 50 capitol cities!
Placing the museums close to Universities would help
alleviate some fears of lost material, which at the same
time allowing much of the material that's currently locked
away in specimen drawers to the viewed and enjoyed by the
public thereby creating one of the largest meteorite

[meteorite-list] AD - SALE and FUNDRAISER

2010-08-27 Thread Greg Catterton
Hi to all, I hope everyone is doing well today.
I have having a sale to raise funds for the museum, coming down to the line to
get the building. It seems there is another party now interested in the
location who wants to turn it into a fitness center (which we already have 4 of
in Lenoir)

That said, you want some good deals? Make reasonable offers on ebay listings
for sale off ebay to avoid fees. There is some really nice material listed.

I have a nice amount of NWA 6291 micros for sale for $10 each also.

Here are some pics of NWA stones I was given to help raise funds
The weight is from left to right. I am asking for best offers on these.

I am also offering what I call the Charter Membership deal.
For a one time fee of $100.00 you will get lifetime admission to the museum for
any and all events. I will be having guest speakers and lectures as well as
other events that will be additional to the normal admission, you get to attend
those at no cost with the charter membership.

I am up to $500.00 of the funds that are needed. You can see more about the

Hi Greg and List,

This is a great cause and I hope you get it off the ground. I really
and truly wish I could help out financially, but I am just not able to
do it.

There has not been a museum dedicated wholly to meteorites in the US
since Nininger's day and this museum that Greg is planning would be a
great boon to the hobby of collecting meteorites and possibly to
meteoritics as well - if the museum inspires young minds to take up
science for a career.

Those of you who are reading this, who are in a financial position to
help out, please support Greg with this project. If this museum
succeeds, it will be of benefit to the entire meteorite community.

I will offer this small bit of help - all people who donate at least
$100 worth of specimens (or money) to the museum project will receive
a lifetime 30% discount on everything and anything in my store
inventory. To qualify, simply help Greg out and then contact me. I
will confirm your donor status and then create a special coupon code
just for you to use at checkout. This is a bigger discount than my
mailing-list members and friends receive.

Greg has generously donated his time and money to this project - which
is a significant thing because Greg is a family man with children, and
time/money are two things that are at a premium for those who are
raising a family. If this project fails to get off the ground, then
we cannot blame Greg - we can only blame ourselves.

Best regards,

Re: [meteorite-list] AD - SALE and FUNDRAISER

2010-08-27 Thread Meteorites USA
You know, the meteorite museum idea is a phenomenally wonderful
philanthropic gesture and contribution to the meteorite community. I've
spoken with Greg at length about it, and he's very excited. He's also a
realist. He knows it could fail easily, but he's willing to take the
risk. I've heard some rather negative remarks about the museum from some
but still I think it's a good idea, if done right. Can you think of a
better idea, or why this shouldn't or couldn't be done? Here's what I see.

IF it takes off in the small town, it would most probably work in a
larger city.
IF it survives the first year in the small town, it could easily be
moved to a slightly more populated area.
Year 2 or 3 could see the museum moved to a larger city like nearby
Charlotte
Charlotte is a larger city who's population could easily support a
meteorite museum
As the success continues to build over time, more institutions and
private collectors could help support this museum network by donating
the funding needed and loaning meteorites to the museum(s) for display
and study.
The museum could be also be expanded and supported in part by locating
it near Universities in other larger cities throughout the USA.
Universities could have a meteorite study programs alongside any
astronomy related education currently part of their curriculum
Cooperation and participation by Universities and collectors could
create a foundation upon which an entire meteorite museum network could
be founded.
The opportunity for growth and outreach to communities and students of
astronomy related studies and meteoritics is phenomenal

Keep in mind, if he can make it work in this economy, in a small town,
with very little funding, it could be the catalyst from something much
grander and more educationally fulfilling than anyone could imagine. But
it will take the efforts of many people working together to make it happen.

Meteorites for display/loan to the museum could come from any number of
sources. There are literally tens of thousands of meteorites in
institutional and private collection that could be loaned or donated to
the museum. More than enough to fill 50 small meteorite museums in 50
capitol cities! Placing the museums close to Universities would help
alleviate some fears of lost material, which at the same time allowing
much of the material that's currently locked away in specimen drawers to
the viewed and enjoyed by the public thereby creating one of the largest
meteorite outreach programs in the history of meteorites. What better
way to do that than with a meteorite museum that if successful could
reach millions of people in every capital city in every state of our
great union. The potential for education, and propagation of knowledge

[meteorite-list] AD: Sale In My Ebay Store * FABULOUS GEBEL KAMIL Specimens!

2010-07-21 Thread michael cottingham

Hello,
Don't miss viewing and maybe purchasing some fantastic meteorites. Including
The Fabulous GEBEL KAMIL Iron.  I have loaded an amazing Zoological
Selection. This is one cool iron and so many of the specimens have great
character and shape, with many taking on distinct animal shapes.
Half of the known material is owned by the Egyptian Government, and to date
only about ~300 to 400 kilos have made it out onto the open market. Last report
was that all the surface specimens are about gone. Yes, there will be more
found with metal detectors, but the underground specimens will NEVER be as
beautiful as the surface collected pieces. Watch, you will see that I am
correct and if you wait for cheaper material, well you might get a better price
next year, but you will never get better pieces, especially once the surface
ones are all gone.  This is an exciting discovery and a beautiful iron.

[meteorite-list] Ad Sale auctions ending on ebay by Saturday evening 8-15-09 Corrected links that now work to each meteorite auction

2009-08-14 Thread Brian Cox

Hello everyone,

Sorry about this email, please don't anyone get angry because I posted a 2nd
one for these same sales. I know a person or two gets uptight about ad sales
emails. I got several emails that the links didn't work and I apologize. I
cut them short thinking it would work and tried them and so now I corrected
the links and now they work. Thanks to those that emailed me. The main link
to my seller's page does work from the first email.

Thanks again and sorry for any problems.

Have a great night!

Brian

2009-06-14 Thread info
Hello all,

Many thanks to those who visited my site during the sale.

Many Rizalites have been sold over the last week and there's still a

Please see the link below that directs you to a page where all the

the specimens that have not been sold yet.

http://tektiteinc.com/forsale.html

Also, please have a look at my evilBay listings, I have some choice
specimens ending in a few hours time.

Thanks again.

Hi all,

for a new hobby of mine so please have a look. Im going to have this sale
on for 1 month.

Free shipping will not be included in this Sale. The breakdown of the

Under 150g $8
Between 150g to 400g $12
Between 400g to 900g $28

[meteorite-list] AD / SALE - Collection for Sale

2009-01-17 Thread cmcdon0923
It’s been a long time since I posted anything to this list, having
stopped collecting meteorites back in May 2005, but I still receive the
digests and read them with interest.

Since then, my collection has been packed away and stored in my den
closet….a horrible waste of these important relics. I have decided
that it makes no sense to continue treating them like this, so I am
going to offer the collection for sale, first, to the members of this
list.

For now, the collection is being offered only intact. I have no
interest at this time of breaking it up and dealing with selling it off
piece-by-piece. Should there be no interest in the collection as a
whole, I will have to decide if it’s worth my time and effort to break
it up and sell off individually, or just pack it up again and put it
back in storage.

The collection consists of approximately 190 different
finds/falls/locations. (I say “approximately” because I need to pull
the records out of the box, but that’s the number I recall.) Specimen
sizes range from just a few milligrams of one or two rarer locations,
to irons of 700+ grams. There are only a small handful of NWAs, as
they never really interested me. The vast majority of the collection
being true “named” specimens. For what it’s worth, the total weight of
the specimens is around 4800 grams (again, going
from memory).

So in order to hopefully facilitate a quick sale, I am offering it at a
significant discount to what was my total acquisition cost as of when I
stopped actively collecting. I haven't kept up with price trends since
then, so if they've at least held somewhat steady, this represents a
great deal, and if prices have risen at all since then, it should be a
real bargain.

If anyone is interested please reply to me directly, off list, at the
email address listed below. I can provide a spreadsheet of what’s
included, and we can take it from there.

Thanks,

Craig McDonald
