strange localhost address

2012-01-20 Thread Wesley M.
Hi,
I don't know where it comes from.
I just configured my iwi card using : iwi-firmware-3.1p1.tgz
I can connect to my network, internet works.
Therefore, i find a strange error :
When i ping localhost it give me : 208.73.210.29 instead of 127.0.0.1 !
Where does it come from ? I don't understand.

I use OpenBSD 5.0 with bind patch.
acpi is disabled in kernel.

If i down the iwi0 interface, i ping localhost to 127.0.0.1, this is
normal.

If i use rl0 interface, i ping localhost to 208.73.210.29... ???
I already look the file /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/hosts, seems to me ok.

/etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

/etc/resolv.conf:

Just an idea, but the SMBus controller has the same interrupt mappings as
this "Lite-On" Ethernet device, is that something you installed?

* You can disable ichiich in UKC/config(8), losing admtmp(4).
* Force the driver to use polling (..check the source).
* Figure out why they won't share the interrupt (..source/datasheets).
or..
* Remove that Ethernet card.

Scrotwm not reading .scrotwm.conf

Hi, I have installed scrotwm as window manager. In the man it says that it
read first the ~/.scrotwm.conf for the user settings or /etc/scrotwn.conf
for global settings. I have modified both and it doesnt apply my changes...
Any idea? Thanks

2012-01-20 Thread Jonathan Gray
Changes made by Google broke yt, you'll need to use a newer
version of yt, ie

http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/~checkout~/ports/net/yt/files/yt.lua?rev=HEAD;content-type=text%2Fplain

and then change the first line to
"#!/usr/local/bin/lua"

ichiic

2012-01-20 Thread David Walker
Hey.

I've installed onto an old machine (dmesg follows):
uname -rsv
OpenBSD 5.0 GENERIC#43

Every few minutes I see this on the console ...
ichiic0: abort failed, status 0x2
... followed a minute or so later by ...
ichiic0: abort failed, status 0x40
... rinse and repeat.

This is a bog standard peecee that had a few doodads hanging off it
which I've gladly removed - a case switch and "some other item" which
I've never seen before but which only interfaces with the PSU and
appears to be an external rail or somesuch (it looks like a plugpack
connection).

Is this normal?
Do I have a hardware issue?
Should I provide more information?

Best wishes.

IPSEC, CARP - BACKUP firewall unreachable

2012-01-20 Thread Samuel Martin Moro
Hello, list!

Using OpenBSD 4.9 GENERIC.MP#819 amd64 - if any relevant.

I have 3 offices, each of them with a couple firewalls, running
isakmpd/sasyncd, carp/pfsync, ifstated, and of course pf, for firewalls
handling 10 vlans, and 1 ADSL+1 SDSL links.
Both ISP provide us with a single public IP. I configured my public
carps like this:
hostname.emx: up
hostname.carpx: inet...carpdev emx vhid...advbase...advskew...pass...

When I attempt to join a remote backup firewall, connection times out.
Also, using master firewall to ssh to the backup one, when I try to
join IPSEC remote networks, tcpdump confirms traffic goes through enc0.

I still can't join them if, in my ifstated.conf, I add static routes
so carp backup uses carp master as gateway for IPSEC remote networks.

I firstly used to kill these IPSEC esp/flows on the carp backup, so
traffic uses my static route.
Then I added a pf rule in both firewalls so traffic going to the other
firewall is natted with master's IP, in the required vlan. This seems
to work just fine, and remain the cleaner way I could think of for now.

Maybe I could try playing with pf anchors? This way, I might also be
able to allow backup firewall to join remote networks.
Since I managed to configure them as puppet clients, they sometimes try
to update their configuration. Having the backup firewall taking
mastership without its updated configuration is quite a shame. I could
add some puppetd -vdt in my ifstated configuration file, however I'm
not sure this is a good idea.

Last observation: we also have, in a data-center, an other pair of
openbsd. There, we actually have one public IP per firewall. And
moreover, joining backup firewall from remote networks is not a
problem.
IPSEC traffic leaves backup firewall, announcing its carp IP, traffic
comes back to master, master re-route it to slave, slave talks for
itself, ... and everything works just fine.

Whatever. My questions are:

- is there a way I missed, to configure isakmpd (or sasyncd?) so that
my slaves do not try to actually use its shared tunnels?

- is anyone here knowing about some 'good practice' I'm missing,
regarding carp using a single IP?
and, isn't this use of carp kinda ugly?
may I add the carp IP as physical interface's IP (in hostname.emx,
instead of 'up', actually configuring my IP)? I'm just thinking about
this one, this looks doable, I'll check about that...

Kind regards.

AngelouEconomics' Annual Economic Forecast:

So, What Is It?

by Brooke Moore

Each year, an audience of about 800 executives gathers at the Austin
Convention Center, where Angelos Angelou delivers his annual economic
forecast.

One of the largest business events in Austin, Texas, guests enjoy

a served breakfast while gaining valuable insight into the Austin

and Central Texas economy.

This year's annual Economic Forecast Event, taking place the morning of
February 23, 2012, will be no different.

In his forecast, Angelos Angelou, Principal Executive Officer and Chief
Economist of AngelouEconomics, will review the Austin economy of 2011 and will
share his projections for 2012 and 2013. Keynote speaker, Jay H. Bryson,
Managing Director and Global Economist of Wells Fargo Securities, LLC will
discuss the U.S. economic outlook within the context of the global economy.

Why is the forecast important?

The state of the economy - local, regional, even national and global - can
have a direct influence over Austin's business climate. Projections for future
years can provide key insight and planning guidance for you and your
business(es). The annual Forecast helps to answer questions like, "How can I
expect the business markets to perform within the next two years?", "What
areas and sectors should I focus on for my business development and growth?",
and "How will Austin's economic landscape be changing over the next two years
and beyond?".

Who can benefit from the forecast?

Everyone! That's what is so great about it. Our attendees come from a variety
of industries such as real estate, financial services, high tech, legal
services, government, construction/architecture/engineering, healthcare,
leisure/hospitality, and clean energy; from companies ranging in size from
less than 10 employees, to over 500.

Aside from gaining promising knowledge about the state of the economy, as an
event that is so highly attended, registrants find themselves in a vibrant
networking environment, providing them with a two-fold attendance benefit.

How do I attend?

Easy, just visit www.AustinForecast.com (
http://e2ma.net/go/7732350357/207444092/231002551/1357081/goto:http://www.aus

or table(s). We look forward to seeing you there!

dhcpd sync init error

2012-01-20 Thread Michael Burk
Hello,

I am trying to set up DHCP synchronization between two OpenBSD 5.0 servers,
but am getting errors when trying to start the target DHCPD server.

The source server is called Bromine, and the target is Selenium. I start
DHCPD on each server as follows:
Bromine:
/usr/sbin/dhcpd -Y 10.30.217.34
Selenium:
/usr/sbin/dhcpd -y 10.30.217.35

DHCPD starts normally on Bromine, and I see log messages like this:
Jan 20 10:19:55 bromine dhcpd[18765]: sending DHCP_SYNC_LEASE for hw
98:4b:e1:01:c5:e6 -> ip 10.30.216.96, start 0, end 0

But when I try to start it on Selenium I get this error:
dhcpd: sync init: Can't assign requested address

When I try to start it using the host name instead, I get this:
dhcpd: sync init: Device not configured

Additional details:
- I have the file /var/db/dhcpd.key on each server:
 -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2048 Nov 18 17:55 /var/db/dhcpd.key
- The MD5 sums on dhcpd.key and dhcpd.conf match on both servers.
- Disabling pf on both servers had no effect
- I found no errors on Selenium in /var/log/{daemon,messages}

I've not been able to find any information on these errors.

Thanks for any help!

Already taken care of; the install writes this to /etc/pkg.conf, which is
used by pkg_add if present and PKG_PATH is not set.

Re: Add Route at Boot Time

2012-01-20 Thread Michel Blais
Also add to search this one when i beggined on openbsd.

I think that in route(8), it should be writen that persistent route must be
add in hostname.if. No where in route(8) there a link to hostname.if(5),
not even in files.

Or you could just add the route command to your /etc/rc.local file and
have done. :)

How do I get this done automagically at boot time?
What man pages do I need to (re-)read?

Problem. I need to manually do:
route add -inet 192.168.2.0/24 172.24.20.2

How do I get this done automagically at boot time?
What man pages do I need to (re-)read?

Thanks,
Ken

In case someone googles that and would think it's a good idea to set the
variable like so, here's a better alternative:

echo 'export PKG_PATH=ftp://ftp.XX.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/`uname
-r`/packages/`uname -m`/' >> ~/.profile

for -release and -stable, or

echo 'export
PKG_PATH=ftp://ftp.XX.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/snapshots/packages/`uname
-m`/' >> ~/.profile

for guess what? -current of course! Even that your -current might not be
exactly the same one these packages were built on.

I was advised some time ago that using `uname -m` is wrong:
(`arch -s` should be a better choice)

http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-misc&m=131694698627338&w=2

That's why I've using this in the past (`arch -s` == `machine -a`):

# selected FTP mirrors in order of distance
OPENBSD_FTP_TIER2='ftp.eu.openbsd.org anga.funkfeuer.at
ftp.usa.openbsd.org'

OPENBSD_FTP_TIER3='mirror.hostfuss.com ftp.nluug.nl'

PKG_DIR=pub/`uname -s`/`uname -r`/packages/`machine -a`/
PKG_CACHE=/home/ftp/$PKG_DIR
PKG_PATH=$PKG_CACHE
for s in $OPENBSD_FTP_TIER3 $OPENBSD_FTP_TIER2; do
PKG_PATH=$PKG_PATH:ftp://$s/$PKG_DIR
done; s=

And yes, it's time to update my list.

Instead, why not solve the general case rather than specific cases. Since the
install script now guesses location for nearest mirror for install source ( &
TZ etc), then I don't see why it couldn't setup a sane default PKG_PATH in
/etc/profile (can be easily overidden in ~/.profile if desired) at install
time. This should ofcourse use the correct arch & version (if it's a snapshot
then set the PKG_PATH as such) and be derived from the install source.

- I know this breaks for mirrors site which carry only install images not
packages, this can be combated with: 'pkg_add -v' should maybe announce which
site it's using, to aid debugging (and be referenced in SASQ).

- people that install snapshots, and then don't keep up with -current, will
possibly (probably) get broken packages. That applies with or without this
change. Again 'pkg_add -v' could grep for /snapshot/ in the PKG_PATH, and if
present, proceed, but with a one line warning (or alternatively stop unless a
new -D keyword to force snapshot packages was supplied).

Who knows why libpth is present into the lib/Config.pm's tie while
loclibpth is missing?

Notwithstanding the library path issue, you're going to need patches
to Image::Scale anyway because it relies on an obsolete libpng function
that has since been removed.

I will post a port for this to ports@ shortly.

Is "-all dirs" a typo, meaning "-alldirs"?
Does that mean you are tying this up into the email?
Please quote directly from the files.

Is "10.1.1.1" and "255.255.255.0" just copypasted from the FAQ,
or are they the actual values for your network?

Is "user1" just copypasted?
I mean, do you actually have "user1" on your NFS server?

It might help if you showed us the whole /ec/exports.

(Also, why are you exporting /tmp?)

Is that 'showmount -e' run on the server,
or 'showmount -e server' run from the client?

Yes.

Please always quote the exact full command and the exact full output.

"Permission denied" means that the server decided not not allow the client
to mount the filesystem. Which makes your /etc/exports the suspect.

So, you are mounting server:/tmp on the server? Why?
Have you even tried mounting from the client?
