as far as accessibility is concerned you should go for moto g 4 or moto g 4
plus. sure to get future updates resulting in accessibility improvement.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Can I use english India seeri male voice for voiceover?

2016-05-10 Thread Harbhajan
hi! yes there is option for english india in siri settings but it only applies
to listening or typing using siri. accent allows you to choose between
american, british or australian style. so again there is no option for indian
english. gender allows users to choose between male or female voices.
to use any siri voice for voice over you need to enable from speech settings in
accessibility. the selected voice will first download and comes to effect
after the download is complete. each voice has two types, default and
enhanced. you can use any one of those.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Apple or android

2016-03-29 Thread Harbhajan
hello, iphone has no rival in terms of accessibility. i too have used android
and iphone for years but love using iphone all versions ranging from 3GS to
iphone 6s. all native apps are fully accessible and easy to use. reminder,
clock, calendre, stocks, mail music, youtube, and phone are quick to use.
browsing is very fine and quick like that of a symbian phone. braille screen
input is much productive while typing long google maps work better than apple
maps. even camera and photo viewer also provide much detailed info. so my
suggestion is to go for iphone if you want a device easy to use and accessible
out of the box.

hi amit! for that you need to enable family sharing from the device on which
knfb reader is purchased. to setup family sharing go to settings/icloud/family
sharing. please note credit card is must to initiate family sharing from a
device. you can add up to 5 members and an administrator. in this way apps
and other stuff can be shared among all the 6 family members.

hi if you want to store a lot of stuff then go for 6 64 gb otherwise 6s is the
best choice. i also don't see any point in not buying from online stores, as
there is apple care to give a replacement if anything goes rong. however its

Re: [Mobile.AI] Some of the Basic questions regarding the use of iPhone.

2015-11-19 Thread Harbhajan
hi using apps is really a matter of choice. the apps you listed here may be
useful for one and not for others. blind square is not much helpful in india
as updated maps are not available. tap tap see may be of a little use wich
lets you recognise things by taking a picture. however, if you really want to
purchase some apps, knfb reader, voice dream reader or writer are worth
considering.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Transferring Music onto iPhone

2015-11-19 Thread Harbhajan
hi george! there are many ways to transfer music from itunes to iphone. the
simplest of them is to put all your music files in automatically add to itunes
folder under library/itunes media. after that run itunes on your computer.
authorise your computer to use for the particular device if prompted. now sync
your device to the itunes using the device or iphone submenu under the menu
bar. after syncing is completed you should see music files in the music app
where you can navigating using song, artist or so on. if still music does not
appear make sure music is checked under the info tab in itunes.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Some of the basic question regarding the use of iPhone sixS

2015-11-13 Thread Harbhajan
hello! in order to disconnect a call take iphone away from your ear and double
tab with two fingers. alternatively press the power or sleep button twice to
disconnect a call. internet can be browsed using the suffary browser on your
home screen. for update, make sure your phone is connected to a wifi network
then go to settings- general-check for updates. it will prompt you to download
the update if available. after the download is complete, click install and
accept the terms and conditions.
for typing you can choose touch pyping or traditional double tab typing. if
you want speed with accuracy, braille screen input is the best method. for
that you should be familiar with the braille dots. to enable brail screen input
go to settings-general-accessibility-voiceover-router and mark braille screen
input usually available at the end of the list. now in order to use braille
screen input choose it from the router gesture

go for nexus 5 around 19 k on snapdeal or galaxy s5 or s6. no doubt galaxy s6

Re: [Mobile.AI] IOS 9 and big brotherly attitude of Apple

2015-09-19 Thread Harbhajan
hello friend! i do agree with you all countries should be treated equally.
however, there is a way to enable news app for india as well. just change your
region to united states under language and region settings. restart your phone
and it will enable the news app on your phone. in order to use indian
newspapers, just search for the title you want to read and save it to favourite
tab for later use.

Free New OCR App called Voice, feedback appreciated

I am a high school student and app developer and I created an OCR
application called Voice that I plan to keep free forever and I would love
some feedback so that I can make it as easy to use as possible. I am not
blind or low vision, but I really want to help the community. So if you
could take the time to give any feedback or suggestions, I would really love
it. To use voice, you can simply take a picture of a document or anything
with text and Voice will read it for you. Here are some of the features of
 Voice:

 1. Fully compatible with Voice-Over.
 2. Field of view report where it detects whether the document is in view,
and if it is, it will say Four corners detected.
 3. If the automatic capture feature is turned on in settings, the app will
find the document using the camera, and automatically take a picture when
the document is in view, without any user interaction.
 4. If an image is taken at a slight angle, it will fix the perspective
distortion and align the image properly.
 5. If the image is of a curved surface, it will adjust the image to
 straighten it.
 6. Book mode which allows the user to take multiple photos, and it will read
the photos one after another. The great thing with this feature is that
while the first photo is being read, the second is being processed and so
 on.
 7. If the image is too bright, or not bright enough, the app will correct
the brightness of the image before processing.
 8. Vertical and horizontal column detection for reading different columns in
a newspaper; the app does this automatically.
 9. Only a 6 megabyte install size.

So those are some of the features of Voice. The application's OCR is done
locally on the phone, but an internet connection is required for the
text-to-speech software to work. Also, the photos are only saved
temporarily. Once the app has finished reading, the photos are automatically
 deleted.

I hope you find this application helpful, as I am planning to keep it free
forever and just wanted to build it to help people who really need something
like this for free. I am open to any suggestions; in fact, please be as
brutal as you want so that I can really do some good with this app. Thank
 you for your time.

Here is the link to the app on the iTunes App Store:

And to contact me personally, please feel free to contact me at

Accessibility features in Android 5.0 Lollipop
Much of Lollipop's accessibility features are unchanged from KitKat,

With Android 5.0 Lollipop comes a whole bunch of accessibility features
for those who need to use them. While many have been carried across
from previous versions of Android, there are some new things inside
that will open things up to a new audience who perhaps struggled to use
 the platform before.
This is just the base of what's going to be on Android devices from
Lollipop and up. Device makers can build upon this as they desire. But,
read on to see an overview of what's what in Android 5.0.
 A video walkthrough
 The features
In one handy list, here's an overview of everything you'll find in the
Lollipop accessibility menu. The old and the not so old.
 Services
*Talkback: Google Talkback will give you verbal, audio, and vibration
cues by acting as a built-in screen reader. It's perfect for the
visually impaired and can be activated with ease from inside the
accessibility menu. For more on Google Talkback check out our complete
 guide here
*Switch Access: A new addition for Lollipop, it allows you to configure
hard buttons to perform certain tasks to enable better navigation for
the visually impaired and makes a pretty powerful tool when paired up
 with Talkback.
 System
*Captions: Enables the system wide closed caption system for videos.
Having been introduced in KitKat it's still possible some users haven't
had chance to try it out yet. It allows videos to display captions
based on the parameters decided upon here, and you can change the text
size and color within set parameters.
*Magnification Gestures: Magnifies the entire system UI. Activate by
triple-tapping on the display inside any apps on the device, pan around
using a two-finger drag and zoom in/out further using pinch-to-zoom.
*Large Text: - If you just want the text bigger, everywhere, activate
it here. You don't get to choose how much bigger it is, but it does
exactly what it says it will. You can fine tune the text size further
 in the display options.
*High Contrast Text: Instead of making text bigger, this will highlight
items that are naturally more difficult to read for visually impaired
people. White text (regardless of the background color it sits on top
of) will be outlined in black and lighter colors such as grays are made
 black so they're

hello, perform a gesture swipe down then right with one finger to bring out the
context menu. wait for a second now click on the left upper corner to activate
pause feedback. now click ok. the talkback will be disabled till the next
screen unlock. now you can take the help of a sighted person to explore
talkback settings. alternately you can choose the talkback settings after
swiping down then right with one finger. this option is located at the upper
right corner of the context menu screen. all these options will be visible to a
sighted person so he will be able to assist you.

hello, first you need an application called app saver written by pardeep. look
for the app in the play store that says appsaver by pardeep. install and run.
now all apps will be shown. just mark the app you want to save or copy all to
save all applications and click start copy. all selected apps will be saved to
the downloats folder in device memory in a folder named copy my apps. however,

Re: [Mobile.AI] Request for Sharing KNFB Reader

2014-11-22 Thread Harbhajan
hello, deleting an app from one account will not delete the app from any other
account on the group. yes music apps and books are shared but here the sharer
has the option what to share and what not. well i dont have the answer to the
question regarding what goes on if the administrator disables family sharing.
as far as the contacts are concerned they can also be hiden. you will not be
able to get any app by default when any of the group member installs it. you
will have menually install the required app.

OK, here is what I understand so ffar and summarizing it for the benefit of
 all.

Only one person can purchase the app. From the app. Store and share it with
upto 6 members through the family sharing option. Once family sharing option
is activated it will share all applications and files between the 6 members.
Means to say all the appsand files on the phone of the member who has
initiated the family sharing option, will be on the phones of all the
 members and vice versa.

 Now the questions are:
What if one member deleted an app. On his/ her phone? Will the app. Be
deleted from all the members phones?
What about playlists and other music purchases? Will they all be shared
across members? How about contacts on the phone?
What if the member who has enabled family sharing disables it, will the
other members lose the applications that were installed on their phones when
 family sharing was on?
And if one member decides to install an application on their phone, will all
the other members also get that app. On their phone?

 Really confusing situations.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Request for Sharing KNFB Reader

2014-11-22 Thread Harbhajan
hello friends! yesterday i updated my iphone 5s to ios 8.1.1 and found the
following improvements.
there is a good news for hindi users that lekha tts has been improved a lot.
now there is no blasting sound and is also soft and pleasing. apple has
ractifide this issue after a very long time which was lying pending since ios 6.
some apps like whats app and messenger crashed in between while reading
messages have now been resolved. suffary and chrom are also performing better.
since ios 7.2 the call waiting mame or number was not being announced but now
resolved in the update.
now two fingers double tab answers the incoming call immediately. however, it
still take a second or two while hanging up a call.

Hi IPhone users! as Prashanth Varma wrote in earlier mail, let us join
hands to use the above-mentioned application so that please try to
work on it to make the life even more independent. When this option is
available, why shouldn't we make 6 members in a group to share this
application? I hope positive response will flow in this group, thanks
 in advance.

in order to make the caller id announce automatically speake notifications

well your second problem is due to proximity sencer. however, i am not facing

 2. Prior to upgradation, When we make a phone call and bring the phone

taken away from our ear, its loud speaker gets activated. However after
upgradation, many a times when the phone is close to our ear and we expect

during making a phone call and sometimes it happens in the middle of a

Re: [Mobile.AI] questions regarding crome for android and google tts update

2014-10-26 Thread Harbhajan
hai friend, firefox is far more accessible than any other browser on android.
one can easly navigate using links headings list and text boxes. navigation
according to these elements can be set by swiping three fingers up or down.
then swiping left and right with three fingers takes you next and previous item.
as far as updating an app is concerned, you need not do anything.

Is there any other app for the purpose, as I do miss separate folders of

Re: [Mobile.AI] iPhone 5c app. crashes IOS8

2014-10-12 Thread Harbhajan
hello sir,
in order to get rid of the contacts in app switcher, launch settings, mail,
contacts and calendars. navigate to show in app switcher and turn it off. now
recent or favourite contacts will not be shown in app switcher.
while selecting contacts in mail app most of the contacts are dimed because
they do not contain any email addresses. but the contact that has an email
address attached to it, gets highlighted.
please be patient, things may resolve in the next update

 Hello Folks;

This is extremely frustrating. After the IOS 8 update it's hard to tell if
the apps., VoiceOver or what is acting up and going wonky.

You would expect after paying a kidney for a phone it would darn work right
at least. Today the most amazing experience was had with the phone. It just
went dead in the mail app. When I tried to select a contact, also a daunting
task because all contacts were showing dimmed - I think it means offline in
the sighted world, VoiceOver just went dead.

Basically I could not select any of the contacts I had in my Gmail account
address book, even though they were all there. Now there was just some
silence and some panic when this happened. I tried to restart the damn thing
but had no idea what was actually happening on the screen. Because I am sure
it would have presented me with a power off button on the screen if
VoiceOver was working. Hit the Home button 3 times expecting VoiceOVer to
terminate, no voice feedback so hit the home button 3 times again but no
response. It was like the phone just went into limbo. Holding the power
button for more than 3 seconds did not help either. I gave up on the damn
thing and put it to charge and what do you know just as I am typing this
email I hear VoiceOVer say Charging 50%.

OK this is surely not a one off incident. The phone goes mute at very
critical instances like trying to save a contact etc. I would have forgiven
such an act if it happened on any third party app. But these are native
apps. Should it really behave like this? Even in Safari while reading a page
it will suddenly jump to the top of the Page or just mute suddenly.

Another freak discovery while in the app switcher/ manager or whatever; if
you kept on flicking Left one finger to toggle the open apps. You will hear
people and the name of your contacts. How the hell did they land up on this
page? What you can do with them is quickly send them a call or message. I
had 3 people showing here. I am baffled how they got there in the first
place and how do I get them out of that page. I have tried one finger tap
and hold, the same gesture that you do to move or delete apps. No magic was
 experienced.

Now that the ranting is done; here is what I need your help with:

1.How do I get rid of those contacts from the app. Switcher/ manager
 whatever screen?

2.How do I select a contact when composing an email from the mail app.
All contacts show dimmed; tried double tapping on the contact name assuming
 that it would select.

3.I want to right a stinker email to apple about this alien behavior of
the phone after updating to IOS8 and now at 8.02. Which they proclaimed to
have fixed some major bugs. Is there a email id to make direct contact with
for their accessibility team which you guys are aware of.

4.I am no longer blaming the android OS of being slobby with their
efforts in accessibility, infact I am all praise for them for actually
making it a hell lot better as of date. My apologies if I have expressed my
frustration on android phone users earlier.

5.If I actually end up buying the iPhone and it screws up like the way
it has on this friends phone can I slap the phone back on apples face? I
don't want to hear silly excuses like we will replace the phone, will check
it and repair it, we will give you a Ferrari in exchange. I want my money
back from these pig headed honchos. Everyone knows that a blind person pays
blood money to buy such a highly priced phone with the only faith being it
working as expected and being accessible.

Thank you for reading my email. Hope to hear from you guys soon with great
 advice.

carbon. Android is the first most popularly used platform by samson or
