It took 14 months for me to get 600+ signups (the site had a few less

But I think the next 1000 will happen much faster.Only time will tell

so everyone, hold your glass up toast because now we only have

[MOPO] Mop0- Inserts Bladerunner

2007-06-20 Thread Tom Martin
I still stand my 30 years in business reputaion that there was a find
of unused national screen inserts in cleveland OHIO in 80s. at least
thats what i was told at at time these only sold for like 3.50 each
so there was no need for conspiaracy or hype and inserts didnt sell well
as did 30 x40s -6 sheets and
40x60s even lobby cards where togh to sell . Because the public saw 1
sheets as the norm.
what truly tragic is that dealers that are debateing this half were
not even around to know what im talking about as back in 80s we didnt
have the net so it was film collectors world, big reel, or classic
Images and then the shows like ray Courts Hulqueen in chicago,, Phil
sueling and Cinevent

I never relized the thievery at shows till i bought 4 35mm projectors at
Cinnevent from Ray Courst and as i attemted to load.. 60year old men
were trying to steal parts Off my projectors!!! damn,,

well... thats showbiz.

so dealer bashing abounds.. but I will not participate in that and i
think the ones that would do that without clear facts are perhaps
showing how they conduct themselves in thier own business.

also heres some facts.. I only havd one poster thats in question the
Bladerunner and it sat in my store for years as a display, So i have
never sold any of the posters in question as repos or have them

so that shows i have no finacial gain to offer my opinion. Also the
poste i had was Clear and sharp and not slippery as Bruce calls them
also it was Flat stock on back coated enamel on front.. and had two
damadge marks. I had offered only on mopo before.

Adian Cowdry Of UK a dealer and asute collector saw my 400 poster
insert lot sometime in 90s and Bought several like- spy who loved me
and a few others he could inspect and see they were all original
inserts I have only sold a handfull out of that lot as Ive only
offered them on mopo so that will show a timeline.

Also the whole insert folly has been based on hearsay.. as the evidence
is all spculative based on I had one saw one thaought it looked funny...
No facts, no data by studios or printers, just opinions by dealers.,.

Fact is I was there when the inserts where being offered in the lot i
speak about and there were some great titles... in beginning and in
quantity..

then as they started to dewindle the delaers began wholsaleing less as
the amount shrunk.. basis supply and demand like we all do..
If i have a roll of 50 I trade , wholesale, etc... if its a great title
I stop wholesale or trade and retail only

what bothers me the most about all this is the dis-information spread..
and the people that are pillars
of the Hobby NEVER do things like that Take a look at the ones that do
and consider that.
People Like Morrie Evverett, Sue and Ed Poole, there are many fine
reasonable people on the list

that are fair, cordial and just.

Then there are Gossip troublemakers that snare themselves by
attempting to injure others.

They spread Rumors and confuse others based dis-information . It never
works and is there own actions that are thier undoing.

Its a very interesting thing.

Its actually very ignorant and they leave a trail that can be traced
over years ..

The ones that cast doubt on other dealers repuatations are the ones in
my opinion to question.. thier ethic, there business standards, and how
they conduct themselves.

Last time i was called into question about validity of a item was the
OscarĀ® I had.. the authenticity was called in

well I have a signed legal document from the academys president Bruce
Davis and as you know the Academy purchased it from me albeite for
less than i could have got on market . I dont believe the Academy would
waste thier time and money buying a forgery from me .. They would just
have litagated

So ask yourself this... If a business implies that another is selling
bogus materials. or questions

the integrity of it services and reputation is that good business ?
Especially with no concrete facts,?

Personally this is damaging conduct and dis-information that not
only hurts the collectable business but also injures a Business

so lets re-cap... I say there was a posterfind in cleveland... I have no
idea what posters people are talking about and the Minty whites topic
appears to originate from several mopo dealers.

fact I have only had the one bladerunnerthat had damage and never
sold these wharehouse finds anyway.. so i have no commercial involvement
and offered the info as historical help as im on the list.

I aggree hhere are many reproductions like scarface 1 sheet that I
personnally put next to a none priginal and can not tell the differance
at all.. same size color everything..

also the saving private Ryan was one of 1st doublesided.. as they
bootleg those too,,,

so really the bootlegs go much deeper than you know... there are lobbie
card repos.. 1/2 sheet

For all we know we are all talking about differant

anywhere, including titles like THE PRINCE THE NATURE GIRL (1965).
SATISFACTION
GUARANTEED (1972--Incredible Art!), CANDY BABY (1969), MASTER'S DEGREE (Early
70's),CARMEN, BABY (1966 Classic), LOOSE TIMES AT RIDLEY HIGH (1984) and LOTS
more that I see selling for $200 to $400 or more on Adult Websites. One
poster in particular, titled THE SALVATION OF MANKIND FROM UNNATURAL
TEMPTATION
(1970) is as weird as they come, mixing SEX with FIRE-AND-BRIMSTONE RELIGION.
Please take a look. I guarantee you won't find it listed anywhere else!!
Here's a link to ALL of my auctions (the Adult material being onlty a
fraction of what I have to offer) AND a DIRECT LINK to this strange poster I'm

1) Does anyone know the 1960s cartoon (Saturday morning, probably CBS)
that had a superhero who may have lived in Washington DC. They usually
showed the White House in the cartoon but there was a modern high-rise
building behind it.

2) What was the vampire film from the 50s that was in black and white but
went to color when the stake was put through the vampire's heart?

[MOPO] FS 21 RARE MINI-WINDOW CARDS

2007-06-20 Thread Flixspix
My Friends,

I have listed on Ebay, 21 truly rare mini-window cards from the 1930's
ending in about 36 hours. As most of you know these are highly prized studio
printed promotional materials produced for only a short time for theatres.
I have linked HOTEL FOR WOMEN below. Clicking or swiping and pasting the
URL will then allow you to click seller's other auctions to view them all.

Other titles include MANNEQUIN, THE GREAT WALTZ, CONQUEST, DRUMS ALONG THE
MOHAWK, YOUNG MR. LINCOLN, THOROUGHBREDS DON'T CRY, LOVE IS NEWS and
other great titles representing stars as varied as Tyrone Power, Joan
Crawford,
Will Rogers, Linda Darnell, Henry Fonda, Loretta Young and William Powell
and directors like John Ford, Victor Fleming, Henry King, and Frank Borzage
all distinguished film makers and the titles here are some of their best.

Many are in mint condition and others have minor restorations carefully
spelled out in great detail.I think this is an opportunity at least worth
a
quick look and for that I thank you in advance.

You/ve started to collect that beatuful thing, The movie posters!
That's why (coppieng Bruce) I don't undesrtand, why you talk of all those
insert things that passionately :) Just don't kill each orher :)

I am not professional in the movie posters and that's why I reallly want to
know, why are the horror and sci-fi movie posters more interesting than any
other genre posters.
What will be the next theme?

Can I get all those answers?

I also don't understand the disinterest to russian posters. The posters are
more beautiful, more provocativ, saying that the movies were not only
international but interculturel, and, finally, saying something to you :)

Anyway

Waiting for your answers

Hi Giorgi

Don't run for the hills.

Answers can be found, but it takes time. Be patient, willing to listen and
open. No one gets all the answers straight away. If they did, how dull
would that be? Disagreements abound.

Some people are interested in Russian film posters. Some aren't. It takes
all kinds - fuckwicks and sage-like angels make the world go round.

Stick around and remember, a bark is often worse than a bite .. except when
it comes to HORROR and SCI FI. They aren't the only genres. ;)

Yea, Yea!! I have a stack of MoviePosterBid flyers on my counter and
I have to replenish them about every two weeks. People see the flyer and want
to
know about it. I have had many people come in with a poster they bought on the
site to frame and said they loved going to a place that was just about movie
posters and easy to work with. We also put a flyer in each box of frames we
ship
and many of my customers have bought from the site with the same comments. So,
congratulations Rich and great going.

WE'VE DONE
  IT

YEAH.. YIPP.. HOOORAY

MoviePosterBid.com
has just gotten it's 1000th member

1000 people with a like
interest in movie posters that want to buy stuff
and sell
  stuff

1000 Movie Poster fans

**ONE
  THOUSAND

It took a little longer than I expected. I
though we would have them by May
1st, so I missed by 6 weeks. But we
  have them.. 1000 members.

It took 14 months for me to get 600+
signups (the site had a few less than
400 when I took it
  over)

But I think the next 1000 will happen much faster.Only
  time will tell

so everyone, hold your glass up toast
  because now we only have
299,999,000 more members to catch up to
  eBay.

Ebay.. lookout!!! I'm coming to get
  ya
