what he really wanted to talk about was posters! I started by mostly
collecting Hitchcock in the 1980s, and then moved onto other areas
like Bond, Powell/Pressburger, and other individual films that I loved
from the 1930s onwards. Although I'd previously picked up a few
handmade film posters from college almost accidentally just for wall
decoration, my interest was really kick-started big time when I lived
temporarily in Tulsa OK and chanced upon a memorabila dealer at a
local fleamarket.

Your comment about Garrard turntables made me realize the spelling of
my surname is being inserted incorrectly at the top of the message

Re: [MOPO] It's Our SILVER Anniversary! 25 Years of MoPo!

2020-02-27 Thread Tommy Barr
As a fairly recent member myself I would like to echo the congratulations
of my fellow poster fans. However, I notice that MoPo is becoming more and
more a site for those advertising their online wares (with the admirable
exception of Tom M) and less a meaningful discussion forum. Is it that
those who have been here a long time know more or less everything there is
to know about movie posters?

MoPo really started in 1994 when a small group of movie memorabilia collectors
found each other on Usenet (you youngsters may have to Google that) and began
CC’ing each other on e-mails discussing the hobby. It was a primitive mailing
list, but it worked. Then in early 1995 as our distribution list grew, American
University student Adam Ehrlich discovered his school allowed students to
set-up a listserv discussion group—for free–and MoPo was officially launched.
It’s interesting that once a list begins, as long as it stays active and has a
listowner (that would be ME!) AU just lets it chug along even after a student
graduates. Even more amazing is that AU still maintains their listserv system
at all. But a big thank you is in order to American U for giving MoPo a home
for all these years.

As is my annual tradition, I salute the original 11 who were here 25 years ago

I’m happy to report that in addition to Jay, Michael, Rob and Evan are still
with us 25 years later!

It seems unreal that 25 years have passed since MoPo began…time does really fly
if you’ll pardon the cliché. I was an avid collector back at the beginning, but
as the years have passed (along with my hair line), I find myself content with
my collection as it is and have begun thinking about what I’m going to do with
all these beautiful images that are now living in storage boxes. But every day
I do enjoy looking at my favorites that have been carefully framed and hang on
the walls and they will probably be the last to go should I ever decide to

My thanks to all MoPo’ers, past and present, for a wonderful 25 years. Happy

I have no idea when he's coming back, Please set You know when it's
about to storm
And all I can say is I've never seen so much of a mess InhumanityIn my
sixty three years
Do I think mankind can turn this around??? I've seen more common sense
in little children

Like Greta Thrnberg That I have an men four times your age

I predicted years ago That it would be the children That could save the
planet

What are spoke to them and I've spoke to them all over the world

They understand love,Compassion respect Acceptance And assisting others
inRedemption
I'm Helping you to embrace ideas and dreams...Which is to teach children
love and respect and kindness
Instead of teaching them how to brace for the next Multi gun to school
shooting

Inclusion diversecity Was Jesus Christ's main platform, Acceptance
I cannot think of anytime he told me to hate anyone Or to turn away
anyone

In Fact says very clearly when Many save the other times look what I did
in your name for you

He says get behind meYou person of lawlessness, I never knew you
Because he's well aware that Many use his name to make money Confuse The
weak and poor,sick elderly
but has control of the entire worlds resource..the entire animal
kingdom..even the virus..theris a order that tesla.einstein and others
Speculated on That I believe just With the tip of the iceberg

Those who have considered extraterrestrial life...I believeWe're Very
close
With that god And the other beingss in the universe Can Do things that
are far superior to anything we could ever imagine.. Consider Star Trek
transportation Beam me up nano scienc cloneing,,
Is the Soul as and Just in the container..Even can type considered
reincarnation
Just trying to take this stuff with them For the next life//If our soul
is what moves to the next level

In Christ says he can give us a new body..Add a everlasting life forever
But The next time I believe we will know why We needed to love and
forgive

Because this life was about educating us Why all the lessons were about

My wish is that everybody graduates with honors
And that those that have not recognized love yet Find it, Discover it
And share it with others

Departure time to go
Peace to everyone and God bless you all
Thank you for the lessons you have given me

Who would have thought MoPo would still be around 25 years after that first listserv message was sent on February 24, 1995…be here we are

MoPo really started in 1994 when a small group of movie memorabilia collectors found each other on Usenet (you youngsters may have to Google that) and began CC’ing each other on e-mails discussing the hobby. It was a primitive mailing list, but it worked. Then in early 1995 as our distribution list grew, American University student Adam Ehrlich discovered his school allowed students to set-up a listserv discussion group—for free–and MoPo was officially launched. It’s interesting that once a list begins, as long as it stays active and has a listowner (that would be ME!) AU just lets it chug along even after a student graduates. Even more amazing is that AU still maintains their listserv system at all. But a big thank you is in order to American U for giving MoPo a home for all these years.

As is my annual tradition, I salute the original 11 who were here 25 years ago today: Mahtab Moayeri, Michael Danese, Rob Ellis, Donna Tschetter, Goh Kai Shen, Evan Zweifel, George Nichol, Jeff Static (using AOL name Static555), Cindy Nemeth-Johannes (sadly we lost Cindy in 2008, but her husband Jay is still a MoPo member), myself, and of course, (former) AU student Adam Ehrlich. I’m happy to report that in addition to Jay, Michael, Rob and Evan are still with us 25 years later!

It seems unreal that 25 years have passed since MoPo began…time does really fly if you’ll pardon the cliché. I was an avid collector back at the beginning, but as the years have passed (along with my hair line), I find myself content with my collection as it is and have begun thinking about what I’m going to do with all these beautiful images that are now living in storage boxes. But every day I do enjoy looking at my favorites that have been carefully framed and hang on the walls and they will probably be the last to go should I ever decide to liquidate. (I have a feeling I’ll be liquidated before those cherished gems are!)

My thanks to all MoPo’ers, past and present, for a wonderful 25 years. Happy Silver Anniversary MoPo!

Re: [MOPO] It's Our SILVER Anniversary! 25 Years of MoPo!

2020-02-25 Thread David Kusumoto
Congrats, Scott! Despite having more senior moments of late - (the reaper
still awaits!) - I recall the rollicking early years and the famous names that
have been brought up here as a "public service" to others and sometimes not. I
think I joined MoPo in 1996, because months later, Todd F.'s one-sheet from
"The Mummy" went on sale in L.A. - and that was my first encounter with a
couple of MoPo members in person. One LESS obvious thing I've noticed, 24 years
later (for me) - is how smart phones have reduced the length of many posts
across-the-board, not just at MoPo - but in social media. I'm so old that I
still prefer a full keyboard and won't post from a smartphone. I've saved some
of the more memorable exchanges in a separate folder - just because they're fun
to read and to recall what the collective mindset was so long ago - as well as
to preserve messages from people who have passed. I still regard MoPo as a
legacy "brand," the place where it all started for people like me. Thank you!
-d.

Who would have thought MoPo would still be around 25 years after that first
listserv message was sent on February 24, 1995…be here we are

MoPo really started in 1994 when a small group of movie memorabilia
collectors found each other on Usenet (you youngsters may have to Google
that) and began CC’ing each other on e-mails discussing the hobby. It was a
primitive mailing list, but it worked. Then in early 1995 as our
distribution list grew, American University student Adam Ehrlich discovered
his school allowed students to set-up a listserv discussion group—for
free–and MoPo was officially launched. It’s interesting that once a list
begins, as long as it stays active and has a listowner (that would be ME!)
AU just lets it chug along even after a student graduates. Even more amazing
is that AU still maintains their listserv system at all. But a big thank you
is in order to American U for giving MoPo a home for all these years.

As is my annual tradition, I salute the original 11 who were here 25 years
ago today: Mahtab Moayeri, Michael Danese, Rob Ellis, Donna Tschetter, Goh
Kai Shen, Evan Zweifel, George Nichol, Jeff Static (using AOL name
Static555), Cindy Nemeth-Johannes (sadly we lost Cindy in 2008, but her
husband Jay is still a MoPo member), myself, and of course, (former) AU
student Adam Ehrlich. I’m happy to report that in addition to Jay, Michael,
Rob and Evan are still with us 25 years later!

It seems unreal that 25 years have passed since MoPo began…time does really
fly if you’ll pardon the cliché. I was an avid collector back at the
beginning, but as the years have passed (along with my hair line), I find
myself content with my collection as it is and have begun thinking about
what I’m going to do with all these beautiful images that are now living in
storage boxes. But every day I do enjoy looking at my favorites that have
been carefully framed and hang on the walls and they will probably be the
last to go should I ever decide to liquidate. (I have a feeling I’ll be
liquidated before those cherished gems are!)

My thanks to all MoPo’ers, past and present, for a wonderful 25 years. Happy
Silver Anniversary MoPo!

Scott -

Congratulations and many thanks for all your hard work.

In 25 years I'll be 86. I expect I will either be living in the Actor's
Home... or back east taking a dirt nap. I wonder if I'll ever get all those
Wheeler and Woolsey lobby cards I'm missing? Stay tuned!

It's been a great experience being part of MOPO!

Thanks again!

Re: [MOPO] It's Our SILVER Anniversary! 25 Years of MoPo!

2020-02-24 Thread Michael Danes
Scott, so amazing! And a big tip of the hat to you for steering this ship all
this time. I really appreciate it!
I’m so proud to be a founding member. It has been so much fun following this
group for a quarter of a century. In the beginning I was a rabid collector,
and, as I got tired of seeing piles of paper in the basement, I sold off a big
chunk of my collection a few years ago. I do regret letting go of some items,
bit I did keep enough to maintain collector status!
I’m looking forward to the next 25 years!

Thanks,
MIchael Danese

MoPo really started in 1994 when a small group of movie memorabilia collectors

CC’ing each other on e-mails discussing the hobby. It was a primitive mailing

graduates. Even more amazing is that AU still maintains their listserv system
at all. But a big thank you is in order to American U for giving MoPo a home
