Eva is a video format created by K.Tsujikawa for the megascsi and
the Turbo-R. It uses YJK compressed video images and reproduce files
with 25 frames (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) per second at
1/4 of the screen (Screen 12)

It is EXTREMELY speed-sensitive and requires Turbo-R PCM. It means that
it only runs on Turbo-R computers with megascsi and harddisk (Yep, it
cannot
be played from CD-Roms because of the speed problem on the driver
MSXCDEX and
the way MSXCDEX provide access to the CD-Roms)

The only significant differtence on these to arcade boards is the fact

 something like:

  FUDECOPY filename drive starting sector

 That's it. A partial disk image reader/writer.

Hmm, Compass can do that, I believe. It can read a sector to RAM, write

this what you need?

Well, why not a little piece of C (or Pascal) code to do this?

Ofcourse, but you can resize large images to small ones, not vice versa.
It was more expensive than other cameras which are in fact much better. Only
this one has a diskdrive in it for floppies. Easy, ok, I definately agree on
that. But nice-looking, no. Definately not. By the way, it's very large and
quite heavy (for a camera).

Well, u can have a GOOD resize algorithm working, like Linear
Intepolation, Lanczos2 and 3 (these last two are very expensive ones), n' u
won't feel many differences from the original image.

What is EVA?

1999-07-03 Thread Giovanni R. Nunes

  greeeting programs,

  What is EVA? EVA is...

EVA (ESE Video Authoring) is a video format created by ESE people. Is
developed to use the speed and the built-in PCM from Turbo-R machines
  equiped w/ MegaSCSI.

Has size of 128x106 pixels and 19268 colors (yes! SCREEN 12), digital
audio (synchronized with video animation, obvious) and no compression
(I believe but I can't hack any EVA file yet). These videos can be
created directly with a Turbo-R, VCR (Video Disc, DVD, etc...) and a
HBI-V1... Or converted from "Cinepak CODEC" of SEGA Saturn videos
using a utility (inside MegaSCSI disk).

The speed is about 12 fps (thanks to 712Kbit/s transfer rate in R800
mode) but can ber configured to 10fps and you can use a external PCM
(this option I don't know but I think that is related to the PCM
REC/PLAY cartridges sold in Japan before 1990).

After the PATCH made from M.Pazos and Okey the limit of a ESE file was
about 32Mb (I've a 24Mb EVA!) and now you can create video clips with
at least 200Mb. Each second consumes 512bytes per second.

Any thing about EVA? Ah! You can't play direcctly from CD-ROM because
it must a 512 butes sector (and CD-ROM has 2048 bytes sectors...).

  End of History...
