Hi, Manuel: MB Also, my crack of R-Type doesn't work with FM-PAC... It's just MB ignored. Well It isn't due to the crack version. The original R-Type has a bug in the MSX-Music ROM detection. It looks for a string that is not contained insi de every MSX-Music ROM. Martos made a great R-Type crack, and patch the routine that looks for the FM-Pac. This version works perfectly on any MSX Machine with almost 128KB of mapped RAM. If you wish, I can send it to you. I still didn't get it! Neither Firebird crack that doesn't slow down... You can't detect MSX-MUSIC using I/O ports, because all of its ports are write only. ALL of them? Not even some small status-register??? None that I know of. Only stupid program(mer)s detect the FM-PAC by testing forthe FM-Basic. It's not the FM-BASIC that's detected. It's the "OPLL" string in the ROM. But if I remember correctly, it was necessary for hearing FM-music to put the FM-Pac in one special slot. If you put it in another slot, you 'll only hear PSG if I'm correct. Hum, I tested my ROM in an emulator and it failed to detect the FM-Pac. Maybe I should try in my "real thing", but I don't have any free slots in it. (one has the FDC and the another may carry FM-Pac or MegaRAM, but not both) =( Maybe doing a _MUSIC before running R-Type works. I don't think so, but you can try... MSX Mailinglist.
