The mysqlbug man page has the weird word perform at the end of this sentence: The script will place you in an editor with a copy of the report to be sent. Then write the file to save your changes, quit the editor, and mysqlbug will send the report by email. perform. -- MySQL General Mailing List For list archives: http://lists.mysql.com/mysql To unsubscribe:http://lists.mysql.com/mysql?unsub=arch...@jab.org

Hello. Please let me know how to install MySQL successfully on Linux. You may use official binaries. See: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/ [snip] I was installing MySQL on Linux. At that time it was giving some problem when I did ./configure. Your libc libraries are not 100% compatible with MySQL version. Mysqld should work normally with the exception that hostname resolving will not work. This means that you should use IP address instead of host name when specifying Mysql privileges. Please let me know how to install MySQL successfully on Linux. Waiting for your valuable reply. Regards Sheela. Suggest improvement for mysqlbug
Description: I had some difficulties to send a bug report by mysqlbug. It inserted my UNIX user name as From: and used some default mail agent, which used my UNIX username @ local domain as the sender address. While the first is merely uncomfortable, the latter inhibited the mail from being delivered. I improved mysqlbug so that it respects two environment variables, if present (see the diffs below): REAL_EMAIL - From: address. This is used by bitkeeper too. MAIL_AGENT - Program to use for sending mail (I have one that uses the From: address as sender). Re: mysqlbug : problem while installing mysql
I've heard a lot of cases where upgrading a windows 98 machine to windows 2000 will cause problems later on. This may be the case with your system. The only thing I can say is try using that same downloaded executable on a friend's machine and see if it works there. If not, theproblem is with your computers. Operating system upgrades aren't very reliable. - Steve REVATI ASHUTOSH wrote: Hi, I am Revati, graduate student from University of Texas at Dallas. Re: mysqlbug
Hi Ing. Conti You need to install the Dynamic loading compatibility library http://www.opendarwin.org/projects/dlcompat I would recommend that you install fink (http://fink.sf.net). Then all you need to do is fink install mysql which automatically installs the dlcompat and compiles mysql. If you want to compile it yourself you could still use fink install dlcompat dlcompat-dev to install dlcompat (which includes dlfcn.h) Hope this helps, Chris. Hi Winnie, You can run rpm -qa |grep -i mysql to see exactly what the installed packages are named. Then you should be able to uninstall (rpm -e) these packages. On the other hand, there could be some package dependencies, which means, that some other software installed will not run without the RedHat MySQL RPMs... I purchased a book entitled PHP3 programming browser-based Applications it came with a cd that contained a copy of MySql-3.22.16a-gamma for any linux distribution. Anyhow, I am having problems installing the software on my SuSe 7.1 linux box. Basically, there are eleven steps that the author david medinets requires in order to properly install the software, but of those eleven, I am having problems with step 8. From root directory linux: ~ # - 1 cd /usr/local/src/mysql-3.22.16a-gamma 2 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql 3 make 4 make install 5 echo /usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql /etc/ld.so.conf 6 ldconfig -v | grep libmysqlclient 7 echo /usr/local/mysql/bin/safe_mysqld /dev/null /etc/rc.d/rc.local 8 ./scripts/mysql_install_db 9 /usr/local/mysql/bin/safe_mysqld /dev/null 10 ln -s /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql /usr/bin/mysql 11 ln -s /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql /usr/bin/mysqlshow after this, the author gives you a sample code to test the database. _ step 8 after entering this at the prompt: linux: usr/local/src/mysql-3.22.16a-gamma # ./scripts/mysql_install_db an error message ( did'nt find /usr/local/mysql/libexec/mysql ) ( You should do a make install before executing this script ) I tryed to run the sample code with out this being installed correctly, but no luck. I would really like any help from anyone on solving this problem. As far as libexec not be found, well there is a lib directory with a subdirectory of mysql. Why its looking for libexec? Hi everybody! I am a new for MYSQL. I want to install MYSQL on AIX 4.3.2 (UNIX). And I got the following error message. Could someone can help me? Shell set MYSQL = '/adm/ac/listserv/Calendar/mysql' Shell echo $MYSQL /adm/ac/listserv/Calendar/mysql Shell scripts/mysql_install_db Could not load program ./bin/my_print_defaults Could not load library libz.a[shr.o] Error was: No such file or directory WARNING: The host 'skipper' could not be looked up with resolveip. This probably means that your libc libraries are not 100 % compatible with this binary MySQL version. The MySQL deamon, mysqld, should work normally with the exception that host name resolving will not work. This means that you should use IP addresses instead of hostnames when specifying MySQL privileges ! Preparing db table Preparing host table Preparing user table Preparing func table Preparing tables_priv table Preparing columns_priv table Installing all prepared tables Could not load program ./bin/mysqld Could not load library libz.a[shr.o] Error was: No such file or directory Installation of grant tables failed! Examine the logs in ./data for more information. You can also try to start the mysqld daemon with: ./bin/mysqld --skip-grant You can use the command line tool ./bin/mysql to connect to the mysql database and look at the grant tables: shell ./bin/mysql -u root mysql mysql show tables Try 'mysqld --help' if you have problems with paths. Using --log gives you a log in ./data that may be helpful. The latest information about MySQL is available on the web at http://www.mysql.com Please consult the MySQL manual section: 'Problems running mysql_install_db', and the manual section that describes problems on your OS. Another information source is the MySQL email archive. Please check all of the above before mailing us! And if you do mail us, you MUST use the ./bin/mysqlbug script! mysqlbug: SIGALRM hangs read() on socket racecondition
Description: I'm seeing random hung reads() after a mysql insert that appears to be related to a sig alarm race condition. The basic workflow of this program is while (1) recvfrom() /* few hundred packets a sec */ parse packet insert into sql However, once per second a sig alarm is generated which does house keeping and what-not. This will work for minutes or hours, but eventually the read(3, ...) blocks , which is the mysql socket. When this occurs you just see the repeated sig alarms being catch, but immediately returning to that read() which never returns. Note there is still hundreds of udp packets coming in but never able to be read because the never-returing read(3,) on the mysql sock. Normal syscalls resemble: write(3, \1\1\0\0\3INSERT INTO call_logging.de..., 261) = 261 read(3, \3\0\0\1, 4) = 4 read(3, \0\1\0, 3)= 3 recvfrom(5, ...) = 398 When the condition occurs: read(3, 0x814a6b0, 4) = ? Upgrade Problem (Mysqlbug)
I am trying to upgrade from mysql server v. 3.22.32 up to v. 3.23.47 on my RedHat6.2 box. When I try rpm -Uhv MySQL. , I get:: Preparing...##[100%] file /usr/bin/mysqlbug from install of MySQL-3.23.47-1 conflicts with file from package MySQL-client-3.22.32-1 I thought maybe the upgrade went ok anyway, so I started the server with mysqld, and connected via my client successfully, but it says I have connected to server 3.22.32. I saw in the docs that the 3.22.32 client should be able to connect to a 3.23.* server just fine. So I have done nothing with my client. I have not located anything in the mail archives with such a problem. Any ideas on how to get around this problem and get the server upgraded? Thanks, Rob Mazur p.s. Maybe the is no such file or directory. Or maybe you are not root when you execute the command. Did you check that the directory exists? Maybe this binary version puts it somewhere else. try : find / -name mysql -print and see where it might be installed. mysqlbug CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE ... TYPE=MERGE ...; fails
You cannot create a temporary table as TYPE=MERGE. I have tried it using both a temporary and a "normal" on-disk table in the UNION paramater without success. This might be useful to, say, the guy who posted thread "Tuple length Question" earlier today...:) I'm sure you can duplicate this on any platform so I'm not going to bother with actual mysqlbug output unless a MySQL A.B. person wishes me to do so. This could easily end up being a documentation bug, with the fix to document that it is not possible to create temporary merge tables. :) --- Jeff S Wheeler [EMAIL PROTECTED] Software DevelopmentFive Elements, Inc http://www.five-elements.com/~jsw/ mysql CREATE TABLE language_en (id INT NOT NULL); Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.04 sec) mysql CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE language (id INT NOT NULL) TYPE=MERGE UNION=(language_en); ERROR 1017: Can't find file: '#sql3f8_1_0.MRG' (errno: 2) mysql CREATE TABLE language (id INT NOT NULL) TYPE=MERGE UNION=(language_en); Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql DROP TABLE language; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.01 sec) mysql DROP TABLE language_en; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE language_en (id INT NOT NULL); Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE language (id INT NOT NULL) TYPE=MERGE UNION=(language_en); ERROR 1017: Can't find file: '#sql3f8_1_2.MRG' (errno: 2) - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing? Sir, Iam Roopa mailing you from linux learning centre. I have a slight problem regarding mysql-3.23.22-6 I have installed this for the first time using rpm packages.after installation when i run mysql_install_db , but when i try to start mysql daemon using safe_mysqld am encountering an error saying "mysql daemon ended" i checked the error log file too .according to which the error is "can't find file :host.frm". iam unable to trace what has to be done to eliminate this error. so please guide me in this direction. eagerly waiting for ur reply, Thanking you Roopa.S - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing?
