for now you can manually get that from w32tex's luatex-dev package.

Is there any possible way to use the wiki-style tables like:

 ^ Heading 1 ^ Heading 2 ^

 (Probably with some wrapper)

Perhaps this boils down to asking if it is possible to (re)define
special characters, within a region of text.

Hans already answered your question for mkiv.

To a certain degree that's already implemented in the database module
that also works with mkii (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/m-database)
and sometimes a bit buggy, but it works. You may take a look at that

Hello everybody,

I have an ambitious project in mind. I'm in position to make typescripts

Western/Cyrrilic Fonts (490+ fonts), and MKIV engine.

The benefit is that users will be able to use most popular fonts

typesetting world.

I think my effort will require some support from NTG ;o), but before
applying I'd like to hear your response.

There are also LinoType, MonoType and ITC pack installed on my machine.
So there are thousands and thousands fonts there.
Without an automatic font selecting mechanism / script, it will be
very difficulty to do that.

ConTeXt's font naming mechanism is very different with commercial
fonts. digital fonts themselves have their own distinct naming
conventions. For example, Frutiger's fonts use numbers to define the
weight/style of the font family.

Moreover, when company X release a font pack version N+1 and break/fix
old font presentation/file names, then you will be very busy fixing
those stuffs.

The module is not synced on CTAN, but it is not updated on

We will definitely need this, at least for getting tikz to work with
ConTeXt.

ok, but separated from the code; it's no problem to load it by default,
but context internally will not use them

definitely. It should be part of the distribution, so that someone writing
a module that works with both ConTeXt and LaTeX does not need to know both
systems inside out.

And a similar package for LaTeX, having most programming features present
in ConTeXt, will be nice :)

to some extend, writing a latex compatibilty layer for context should be
doable ... a bunch of commands (begin/end ..) and some lua expresions
... but we let others define the reasonable subset

Hi Lutz,

thanks for the example, it helped me to track down my problem and
I was able to fix my typescripts.

 Hi Wolfgang,

this works here with MkIV and type1 LucidaBright:

 \font\lucida=name:lucidabright*default at 12pt

 Hi,

is it possible to use hanging punctuation in MkIV with Type 1 fonts, I
 tried the Lucida
fonts but it did not work. I made also a simple test I and converted
 LucidaBright
(the Regular style} into OpenType format and it worked then.

[NTG-context] A few minor questions

2009-03-09 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hello,

1) I use \setupindenting[yes, big]. How to make the first paragraph
(after the section title) to be indented too?

2) I made a command for abstracts (a few lines in the beginning of the
paper, one paragraph only). Please, look at my definition, i'd like to
know how to implement it in more elegant, ConTeXt way.

\define[1]\Abstract{
\startalignment[middle]
\switchtobodyfont[11pt]
{\it #1}
\stopalignment
\blank[big]}

Example usage:
\Abstract{Присвячено практичному застосуванню алгоритмів параметричної
ідентифікації для визначення параметрів технологічного процесу
гідроструйного різання}

Best regards,
Vyatcheslav

Re: [NTG-context] Help with book of poetry

2009-03-09 Thread Corin Royal Drummond

Thanks Taco and Henning,

The link to the Sample Documents was helpful, especially the biochem
textbook. As a web developer, I'm used to learning by reading other
people's code. I sure do hope other people will post their documents,
with or without commentary. It's the quickest way for me to learn
without bothering people.

Cheers,

[NTG-context] PDF grayscale conversion (OT)

2009-03-09 Thread Alan Bowen
I have used to ConTeXt to generate a hefty PDF file with b/w text and
color images. Is there a way to convert this file to a PDF file with b/
w text and grayscale images (256 shades)? I know I could always
convert the images first and then reset the book, but I was wondering
if there was a simpler more direct way before I start doing that.
(There are over 70 images.)

Best, Alan

Re: [NTG-context] My printer vs. Times New Roman

Dear Vyatcheslav,

I have Samsung ML-1615 laser printer. When I print an MS Word document
typesetted in Times New Roman, the printer uses internal (hardware) font

paper.

IMHO Samsung ML-1615 is a GDI printer, that relies on PC CPU to do most of
the work. Thus the printer is unlikely to have any hardware fonts.

There may be settings in your PDF viewer to enable/disable the use of
local fonts and something like print text as graphics - you may play
with them. But in general PDF document/PDF viewer/Windows GDI printer driver
combo may or may not work depending on the astrological conditions.
