If it's still around, be sure to check out the Barn Swallow that has been
seen there this morning. Super late. A photo would be nice.

2020-11-09 Thread Andrew Baksh
I am looking at the Sage Thrasher right now, which is giving incredibly good
looks near the previously reported location. The bird is currently working the
grass edge near the mowed path and the Buckthorn shrub it favors.

Many thanks to all who posted updates and directions.

A few of us still had it around 8:30 am, it was up eating berries, enjoying
the sun, and being visited by a very curious chickadee. Same general area
across the pond from the road as reported yesterday.

Re: [nysbirds-l] Sage Thrasher - Columbia County, NY

2020-11-05 Thread Adrian Burke
Oops, thanks for pointing that out. Coords for closest parking are:
(42.4026220, -73.5637631).

I’ll add that just a bit before sunset, the bird made another appearance in
the mid right hand side of that buckthorn bush (viewing from trail looking
north), pretty much exactly where it appeared briefly before, but this time
giving stellar views for me and one other observer for about 10 minutes,
eating a few berries, and not even flushing when a barking off-leash dog
ran right past!

Seems early morning and last thing in the day may be the best bet to view
this bird, assuming it continues...

Re: [nysbirds-l] Sage Thrasher YES

2019-05-18 Thread david speiser
The Sage Thrasher continued at least until noon. It moved more toward the North
Garden on the upper grassy paths parallel to the bike path. The bird can be
quite confiding but also needs it’s space.
Any grassy path appears to be a possibilityif you can not locate it.

Good luck!

Re: [nysbirds-l] Sage Thrasher YES

2019-05-18 Thread david speiser
The Sage Thrasher continued at least until noon. It moved more toward the North
Garden on the upper grassy paths parallel to the bike path. The bird can be
quite confiding but also needs it’s space.
Any grassy path appears to be a possibilityif you can not locate it.

Good luck!
