As much as I'd like to get this resolved ASAP, I have no idea what's wrong.
This is mostly because of my lack of know-how on Bugzilla and Perl.

Hmm, even I am not able to log into the admin interface on this ML using
our "usual" ML admin password (which is documented on Big Big Wiki).

@Raph, @JCL - Any clue?

At any rate, are you able to log into the newer om-qa-notifications ML?

2016-10-02 Thread Anurag Bhandari
Ben, that's a nice suggestion.

In fact, I went ahead and created a new list:
http://ml.openmandriva.org/mailman/listinfo/om-qa-notifications_ml.openmandriva.org

For now, I've added same people as admins as configured for om-qa-alerts:
benbullar...@cox.net
itc...@compuserve.com
jclvan...@gmail.com
r...@hodo.fr
rob...@gmail.com
a...@anuragbhandari.com

Poke me if you do not like the name of this new list. I will change it as
per your suggestion(s).

I'm hoping this works without issues.

[OM Cooker] ANNOUNCEMENT: Mailing list downtime

2015-12-27 Thread Anurag Bhandari
Hello,

We are currently working to move all our mailing lists to another web
hosting provider. During this time, all our mailing lists may be down for a
couple of days. The move is expected to complete before the end of this
year.

Effective immediately, please refrain from using these mailing lists for
the next 2-3 days. You can use OpenMandriva forums (Discourse) and IRC
channels during this time.

Once the movement is done, I'll make another announcement to resume our ML
communications.

 half-
an-hour or perhaps less depending on how many recruits there are and could
 be
prehaps held before the TC or even as part of it. The newcomers could be
issued an official invitation to come and meet the core team. Others from
 the
infra and workshop teams should perhaps also be present. The meeting would
 have a predetermined agenda .
Perhaps starting with an very short welcome from one of the team and then
perhaps some or all of the group should introduce themselves and give a
 short
precis of their role in OMA and what kind of questions they would be
 available
to answer for the newcomer. The newcomer should then be given the
 opportunity
to speak though he/she does not have to. This is only an outline as the
 format
of the meeting would need some more thought. I think this important to for
 the
current members to at least have some idea of who they are working with.

Was it officially decided and fixed, that it is 1 year from the release?

Basically, answer to that: 1 year, correct?

This is for maintaining updates. Currently update packages are being
pushed without a suitable QA testing system. This will allow QA to get a
good look at all packages being pushed through, as well as providing a
suitable update information interface for those in, say, business.

2013-11-28 Thread Anurag Bhandari
To quickly scribble my thoughts on this:

If we decide to stay with CAcert--let's make sure we are not forcing our
visitors to https version of any of our sites. On the landing site, https
links to our sites should be listed only if the landing site itself is
accessed via https. Other wise all links should be http.

If we decide to move on--let's then try to secure the most widely supported
FLOSS CA.

Yes, this is something I understand, even if not sure to agree:) We
are a community, and there will no be some tyranic decision, so of
course we will not keep this situation if users considers it as an
  issue.

Well, I'm not well-educated in all the issues and technicalities, albeit
being a user of Mandrake et. seq. since early 2000. The philosophy of
FOSS, introduced by Stallman, Torvalds, and other pioneers is of the
primary importance. However, after all this time of daily Linux usage, I'm
flummoxed by the challenge to override the browser warning, to make an
exception. Acting in near ignorance, I don't feel my security is being
enhanced, as I need the browsers to do my thing, and just start pushing
buttons. The spying by militaristic governments on one another is nothing
new, just more visible and potentially invasive via the same technology
that enabled the rapid advancement of Linux. So, it's a hard choice. There
is some merit in being approachable, important for what I see OMV is trying
to become. Could the installation of the necessary certificates be made
more automated/transparent with a package dependency or highly visible and
documented widget/button or some such? To RTFM before going to a website
is not a user-friendly mechanism, iiuic.
  Rolf

There isn't much free speech challenge here to understand.

Certificate Authorities follow strict procedures that are described
(and tested) by various standards (and their agents) as part of
a global (i.e. not just linux) infrastructure designed for
 interoperability.

The compliance testing isn't cheap, and the certification of a CA is
most definitely a direct business cost that must be paid for somehow.

I've heard that the cost of getting a root CA (like CAcert) into browsers
everywhere (as StartSSL has done) is typically about $500K.

The alternative to using an existing CA is to install your own root CA,
and CAcert is a perfectly sensible choice.

The choice is whether free speech advocacy or seamless access
of web content is more important to OpenMandriva.

 Disclaimer:
There are (of course) other CA's than StartSSL: I point out StartSSL
solely because Eddy Nigg and StartCom/StartSSL have strong
 connections to FL/OSS, including a CentOS-clone distribution.

Well, the first thing I do is start getting rid of task-bar icons and
changing to classic (old) Desktop view. ;p
My view is it's good to expose various choices, but not this way. I'd
advocate for a cleaner, leaner default and, someday, somehow, some easily
accessible Help via mouse-over, default desktop icon, or other smart gui

Hey thanks, Cristina.

@John: Can we update our torrents according to the revised ISO filenames

I strongly suggest we rename the ISOs from

It would be awesome if we could give references to resolved

 x86.

 Lx

Lx Beta comes with KDE 4.11, with a focus on a clean and unified

Installation has also changed. DrakX installer is no longer

Hi Arun,

I can understand your frustration here, but as mentioned in the release
notes Beta does boot from USB using the Fedora tool. At any rate, this is
just a development/testing release, and shouldn't be stopped just because
of USB boot issues. The decision on its release was unanimously taken by
the Cooker and QA teams.

Thanks

We hope that this will fix the kernel panic on bootup some people have
observed, but it's not certain it actually does (apparently whether or not
it happens is highly timing dependent, and therefore dependent on the exact
 hardware config).

I could never reproduce it on 2 of my boxes, I've seen it 1 time (out of
around 100 reboots) on another, and every time on an old box. The new iso
 boots fine on that box.

Please let me know if you're still seeing this issue on any hardware.
