Dear TSC and Security Subcommittee,

As part of S3P requirement, the CII Silver badge requires:
*Level 2: CII Silver badge, plus:
-All internal/external system communications shall be able to be 
encrypted.
-All internal/external service calls shall have common role-based 
access control and authorization with CADI

If I understand correctly, CADI is an SDK/framework from AAF. And integration 
with CADI needs AAF SDK which is only available with java binding, is that 
correct?

As you know some ONAP projects are python based and it is a great 
challenge/burden for us to develop a python based CADI SDK. So this could be a 
risk need TSC/Security subcommittee's attention, especially in case that TSC 
makes it a mandatory requirement for Casablanca.

On the other hand, I am wondering what is the real intention with this security 
requirement. If the role-based access control is the key pursuit, then we 
should explore other alternatives.
Before diving into the specific alternatives, I would like touch a little bit 
the different requirements between a "Role" for end-user and "Role" for 
internal service entities.

*A role for end-user could be dynamically maintained/assigned since the 
end-users are created/deleted/updated during run-time. In that case some UI is 
needed and I guess this is what AAF/CADI is doing, correct?

*A role for service-entity is another story. The role for a 
service-entity should be designed at day 0 and configured during deployment 
time. And should be kept intact during the life cycle of the whole system (ONAP 
in this case). Hence there is no need to create/update/delete the role for a 
service-entity.

If my understanding/assumption is correct, I believe those services which does 
not expose API/UI to end-users should control the access based on the "role for 
service-entity" because their API consumers are service-entities, not end-users.
e.g. MultiCloud services's consumers are SO/VFC/APPC/etc. No end-user should 
access the MulitCloud APIs directly. Hence the access control based on the 
"role for service-entity" should be enough and will be provisioned during 
deployment.
In this case ISTIO's RBAC could be an alternative, which fullfil the 
requirement of RBAC, while offering following beneficts:
   1, leverage the ongoing effort with regarding to ISTIO for 
service mesh.
   2, Reuse the same infrastructure to fulfill requirement w.r.t. 
"All internal/external system communications shall be able to be encrypted"
3, OOM/Kubernetes based/managed, easy to configure/maintain.
   4, Projects are not impacted at all, no code change, no API 
change, etc. No SDK development/integration needed.


This is my 2 cents.  Please let me know if I got anything wrong/incomplete.

Hi,

Has anyone encountered the "Pod sandbox changed" message in pod description? I 
get following problem with some of the pods if when I re-run the pods on a k8s 
4 node cluster with Rancher for OOM Beijing setup

For OSAM use case, we are making use of PNF capability (I believe that's  part 
of Beijing and Casablanca scope) similar to 5G DU use case. Hence no new 
efforts/impacts to ONAP components were identified with the architecture team.

This is email is intended to clarify on the needs for coding activities for 
both  CCVPN and OSAM Use Cases.
While at Beijing last week, I heard that both use cases do NOT need coding 
activities but are contingent on adding resources on impacted project and 
Integration Team agreement.
This morning during PTLs meeting the above statement was challenged in a sense 
of on why adding resources on a use case that is presented as no coding 
activities.

May I ask the use case owner to confirm they do not expect coding activities 
and the activities of these resources. I would recommend to reach out to PTLs 
to back up their analysis.
For CCVPN, I expect a response from either Lin Meng or Jianguo Zeng, for OSAM 
from Sumithra Bhojan, Bora Eliacik or Ryan Hallahan

As you know M1 release planning for Casablanca release is scheduled for next 
week on Thursday, June 28.
As usual, both the Project Plan [0] and Project checklist [1] templates have to 
be filled out.
We had an intensive week here in Beijing discussing Casablanca release, find 
below some guidelines to help on scoping.

>From a requirement perspective, at a high level the Casablanca Release 
>Requirements
> summarizes the Use Case, the functional and the non-functional requirements. 
>When it comes to the scoping exercise, here are a couple of considerations:

  1.  The over-arching theme for Casablanca is deployability
  2.  For the Functional requirement, to help out to prioritize, the TSC has 
asked each Service Provider to prioritize the requirements. It looks to me that 
Change Management and Scaling are leading the way. (details are 
posted)
  3.  2 new Use Cases have been presented: CCVPN and OSAM. These 2 use cases 
are contingent to  add resources to the impacted project team to develop the 
functionalities and Integration Team bandwidth to perform testing.
  4.  For the non-functional, S3P, Security and Architecture Alignment are 
important to take into account as well in the scoping exercise.

We will all meet on Monday at the PTL meeting to understand what can be 
realistically scope in Casablanca timeline.

docker.io are not downloaded via nexus3.onap.org

Hi all,

If all that is needed is the new substitution mapping grammar, then it
would be very easy to add to Puccini. Thank you for clarifying that. I
think I may be able to add that by next week. You can track the issues here
.

Just to be clear -- substitution_mapping has existed since TOSCA 1.0. In
1.2 mappings are added for "properties" and "interfaces".

Alex -- though the core work on TOSCA 1.2 might have been finished, it is
still in the public review stage. (And as usual, the spec is riddled with
inconsistencies and errors.) But if this is what ETSI wants, so be it.

Also, Alex, this will be a PoC. We do have a lot of TOSCA parsers in ONAP,
but we also don't have an easy solution to some of the problems in SO. The
hope is that Puccini can provide a solution. If not, then hopefully we will
have learned something about the gaps. Unfortunately there is no "seasoned"
TOSCA orchestrator that can do what we need without major modification.

As for having 4 TOSCA parsers already -- ARIA is currently under vote to be
retired. I will send out an announcement once the vote is finalized.

[onap-discuss] compiling SO component (beijing branch)

Hello,

I have a problem compiling SO (beijing branch).

When compiling, it is trying to download dependencies and fails, the 
error is:


[ERROR] Failed to execute goal on project common: Could not resolve 
dependencies for project org.onap.so:common:jar:1.2.0-SNAPSHOT: The 
following artifacts could not be resolved: 
org.onap.appc.client:client-kit:jar:1.3.0-SNAPSHOT, 
org.onap.appc.client:client-lib:jar:1.3.0-SNAPSHOT: Failure to find 
org.onap.appc.client:client-kit:jar:1.3.0-SNAPSHOT in  was 
cached in the local repository, resolution will not be reattempted until 
the update interval of onap-public has elapsed or updates are forced ->


I know it tries to download it from our local nexus proxy and also from 
a bunch of other places, including onap snapshot repo, so I am not sure 
if this artifact has vanished and how to proceed further.

Yes, if we want to support the VNFD design with multiple deployment flavours, 
tosca-simple-profile-yaml v1.2 is required, and the most important feature is 
the new substitution_mapping grammar.

For single deployment flavor design with only one service template, tosca v1.1 
should be fine.

What I meant to say is that as far as I know, none of the TOSCA 
orchestrators/parsers that we use in ONAP support the OASIS TOSCA Simple YAML 
Profile 1.2 grammar extensions.

I think you mean TOSCA 1.2. (YAML 1.2 is supported by most TOSCA parsers.)

If you do mean TOSCA 1.2, then it is on the roadmap for Puccini which will soon 
be tested as a candidate for parsing TOSCA in SO. (It currently supports TOSCA 
1.1.)

What are the particular TOSCA 1.2 features that you need?

Tal,

A few points…

1.  We have four parsers and one orchestrator already in use within ONAP. 
These are well established parsers supported by different companies that 
participate in ONAP. IMHO, we are ought to be looking to reduce this set to one 
parser/orchestrator combination that we can use going forward, across all ONAP 
projects that need them.

2.  Given our S3P ambitions, we need to ensure that the parser/orchestrator 
that we choose is seasoned and established enough to support the function of 
ONAP components.

3.  We, the ETSI NFV SOL001 team, have made a conscious decision to make 
use of the TOSCA Simple YAML profile 1.2 grammar elements. We also made a 
conscious choice to mitigate lack of commercial and open source support of 1.2 
grammar by enabling alternative way of encoding VNFDs in TOSCA, using 1.1 
grammar, albeit with some limitation.

4.  AFAIK, TOSCA Simple YAML Profile WG has finished the 1.2 grammar 
definition and is working on v1.3 of the grammar.

I will reiterate the two points I made and add another:

  *   TOSCA 1.2 has not been released yet. It is currently in draft 2 version. 
It might be a good idea to wait for it to be finalized before rushing to 
implement it.
  *   Puccini does not support TOSCA 1.2 right now, but it will in the future 
(when TOSCA 1.2 is officially released).
  *   Puccini is not currently part of ONAP. If it works well for SO, we can 
then talk about implications for supporting TOSCA 1.2 in SDC and other ONAP 
components.
Once again I will ask -- what TOSCA 1.2 features are important to you?

a use case for this today.



Today, we use CDT to build the models and artifacts that are needed by APPC to 
support the various LCM actions.

I've just started work with APPC. I've found out that since

 artifacts are not pulled from SDC using DistributionClient.

In project appc-inbound there is API (RPC method 
'artifact-handler:uploadartifact') that gives functionality to add artifacts.

Problem is that I can't find any usage of it in SDC.

Can anyone tell me if there is any component that uses it or artifacts have to 
be pushed to APPC manually?

Sorry my bad. I was looking at the wrong version.

The current CDT 1.3.0 is apache’s httpd docker  from 
https://hub.docker.com/_/httpd/
 originally. You can run docker pull the 1.3.0 then docker tag as latest. So 
docker-compose can see the latest tag.

  Thanks for the reply , I have checked the CDT docker  installed 
on our environment. It does not have  /etc/nginx/conf.d/  directory. Find below

We have used onap/appc-cdt-image:1.3.0  for CDT. Is there any issue in 
installation of CDT?  Is this the right image or we have to use other image.

For CDT log, goto CDT docker , you would see /etc/nginx/conf.d/default.conf. 
check the nginx.org website, you then can setup the log level and the path.

Check APPC’s mysql db docker. There are two tables: ASDC_ARTIFACTS and 
ASDC_REFERENCE. The VNF artifacts should be saved there.

NS/VNF package onboarding and NS Instantiation are two separate steps. 

 

Before creating the E2E service from UUI, we need onboard all related NS and 
VNF package to VF-C catalog. This operation now is triggered by UUI portal.

 

After the above step, Then can do NS lifecycle management.
