Is it possible to open a web URL in the server while an event triggers in
action trigger mechanism. If possible, we may be able to find the solution.

If you have circulations in both tables and want a complete picture, then
yes. If you are on a version with the action.all_circulation view then it
combines data from both for a single reporting source.

So, if I run a circulation report for a month from a few years ago, do I need

Hi Jim,
It's likely that this information is not available in the documentation, but if
anyone has the inclination to essentially copy what Jason said into Asciidoc so
that it can be included, I'm sure others would appreciate it!
If anyone is interested, I would happy to work with you on it to point you in
the right direction for how the documentation gets done.

There is no duplication. The action.aged_circulation is for statistical
reporting while breaking the link to the patron who had the item checked out.

Circulations get moved under three circumstances in stock Evergreen:

1. A patron is deleted. This moves all of the patron's circulations from
action.circulation to action.aged_circulation

2. A row or row(s) in action.circulation are deleted. The
action.age_circ_on_delete trigger moves deleted action.circulations to
action.aged_circulation.

3. The action.purge_circulations function is run. This function is meant to be
run periodically to enforce patron privacy. It's behavior is controlled by two
internal flags: history.circ.retention_age and history.circ.retention_count.
The purge_circulations function is often run from cron via the
purge_circulations.srfsh script. NOTE: This function will take a *long* time to
run for the first time on a system that has had much activity. The srfsh script
will likely time out before the database function finishes and nothing will get
moved.

If you have not been doing 2 or 3, then the aged_circulation entries you see
are likely because of 1.

You can delete rows from action.aged_circulation if you wish. Keep in mind that
this could lead to the loss of statistical information depending on what
reports you use.

Hi all,

We are all excited about yesterday's beta release for 3.0 and all of the
wonderful improvements we're going to see in Evergreen!

Over the next few weeks, the Evergreen Outreach Committee will be highlighting
some of our favorite new features you will all be seeing in
3.0 in a video series called On the Road to 3.0. Although the web client is the
most notable change coming with the release, there are many other changes big
and small that will bring benefits to your libraries. In the first installment
of this series, we highlight some small, quality-of-life improvements that will
improve the experience for staff.

You can view the video on our new YouTube Channel at

first to know of new videos added to the series? Be sure to subscribe to the

Hi all,

We didn't get many requests for Sandboxes this week. Since I had a spare

I just had the worse off one sent in for repair, and it was returned, and the

the problem.

I’m just wondering if this is normal for this model… and if we should be

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] OpenSRF 2.5.1 released

2017-09-12 Thread Dan Scott
Does upgrading OpenSRF from 2.5.0 to 2.5.1 just require a restart of
Evergreen to pick up the changes via the shared libraries, or is a
recompile of Evergreen required as well?

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Is MassLNC community demo server up?

2017-09-12 Thread Kathy Lussier

Hi all,

I'm happy to report that the demo server is back up again and is running
2.12.5. Access information is available at
https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=community_servers.

Many thanks to Jason Stephenson of C/W MARS for getting it back in
working order!

And yes, Equinox's demo server works okay!

Hi,

Yes, the MassLNC demo server is down, and I don't have an estimated
time on when we'll have it back up again. I'm going to remove the
server's access information until we get the problem addressed.

It looks like Equinox's demo server at
https://demo.evergreencatalog.com/ is up and running with 2.12.1.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused!

The copy/paste gremlin strikes again! Thanks for pointing this out;
I've corrected the post.

2017-09-12 Thread Linda Jansova

Thank you, Galen! We shall definitely use it for testing 3.0!

At this moment I would like to suggest a little correction - the link
from "release notes" in the release announcement
(https://evergreen-ils.org/opensrf-2-5-1-released/) currently goes to
https://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/release/OpenSRF/RELEASE_NOTES_2_5_0.html
but should probably go to
https://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/release/OpenSRF/RELEASE_NOTES_2_5_1.html
instead.
