Obviously, various institutions can migrate into Evergreen without any kind of fanfare or announcement but I'm hoping to create as strong a list of possible. So, if you know of an institution that has moved to Evergreen this year please let me know. A few stats like bib collection size would be great but I'll take as little as a name and location! ommittee. Now that COOL is a healthy and thriving consortium, I am ready to get more involved with the larger Evergreen community. I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve and I think I can make a valuable contribution to Evergreen community through service on the Evergreen Oversight Board. Jessica Woolford- Systems Manager, Bibliomation Candidate Statement I attended my first Evergreen conference in 2010. I was still in library school and just beginning my professional career at Bibliomation. It was my first professional conference, I was on a panel, and I was terrified! I soon learned I had nothing to fear. I have found the Evergreen community to be extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. It has contributed greatly to my professional development, as I have moved up to the role of Evergreen Systems Manager at Bibliomation. In my career, I have been able to see Evergreen from many angles, from the perspective of the supporting the end users, and now the "care and feeding" of the Evergreen system. I continuously look for ways to contribute to the community. I have presented at several Evergreen conferences and served as the Reports Interest Group convener. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Update on Overdrive API integration
In July 2013, I shared out some analysis from Sitka developer Steven Chan regarding the Overdrive API integration that was available at that time: http://markmail.org/message/dbkraxlsj562wxzh In October 2013, Overdrive released additional Circulation APIs and in January 2014, Sitka began development on integrating those additional pieces. To date, we have not been aware of any other EG jurisdictions working on this development, but as it is taking longer than we anticipated to complete, I wanted to check in with the community again to see if anyone one else is working on integrating the Overdrive APIs with EG, specifically for v2.6. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Overdrive API
Hi Kathy, Sitka is very interested in Overdrive integration as well. We've also included MARC records from Overdrive, but would like to display title availability and have seamless checkout from within the Evergreen pac. When we last reviewed the API on the Overdrive developers' site about a month ago, it didn't appear that any of the existing API would allow either of those functions. The existing API seemed more geared to making Overdrive content available on library websites. This article alludes to a content.api that is still pending from Overdrive, which would seem to get us closer to what we want: http://www.thedigitalshift.com/2013/04/ebooks/overdrives-upcoming-apis-to-allow-ebook-checkouts-from-opac/ Steven Chan did some detailed analysis on the Overdrive API (we got sidetracked by the 2.4 upgrade, so haven't revisited Overdrive yet), so I will look that up and aim to share it out with everyone. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] ***SPAM*** Re: bookings module - media bookings
Hi Lebbeous, I'll echo Tara's thanks for the quick bug resolution! As it happens, a few of the Sitka sites have already conferred with Cynthia Williamson at Mohawk College to develop a Booking feature request list, which ESI has quoted on. If anyone is interested in pooling funds toward development of any of the following high priority Booking features, or if you would like more information about our extended (lower-priority) feature list, I would love to hear from you! Booking priority features for development: -Edit an existing reservation (booked, captured, out) -Ability to view a calendar or list of dates not available/already booked when creating a new reservation -Ability to add a note field to a new reservation (and display note field in all table displays throughout Booking including pull list). -Ability to cut and paste barcode from the ?Create Reservations? screen -Ability for the keyboard ?Enter? key to activate the Next button when creating a new reservation. -Search by resource barcode and display all reservations for a given $8,250.00 -Add options Capture, Pickup, Return, Create New and Cancel from this mode -Ability to customize the print out of the pull list including order, width, and selection of columns. Column picker would be useful. Cheers, Sharon -- Sharon Herbert Sitka Manager BC Libraries Cooperative Tel: 604.854.5618 Email: sherb...@sitka.bclibraries.ca Quoting Lebbeous Fogle-Weekley lebbe...@esilibrary.com: No problem Tara, I can see why one would get that error message when trying to checkout something that should be waiting to be picked up. I also see where the booking code limits what you get shown to pickup such that if something's not picked up on the first day of its reservation, it doesn't remain on the pickup list and it becomes hard to do anything with it. That much I can treat as a bug and fix. Here's the developers' bug report, with a link to code that should fix the problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/925169. This fix should be included in all future releases. I encourage everyone who has spoken up about what new features or changes they'd like to see in the Booking module to keep talking! A consensus list of desired work would be helpful to any future development effort. Consider reaching out to Cynthia Williamson and Robert Soulliere of Mohawk College, who pioneered the existing work where there was no booking module before, (I recall their names, but I hope I'm not leaving out anybody else!). If so, the long term solution may be to only request from the server what will actually be shown (or the smallest superset necessary) and only retrieve things like call numbers when they're requested. Adding a column with this arrangement would leave some columns blank, but to see those the items could just be scanned again.
