The Network Security Engineer - Expert reporting into the Network Security
group of CTS Data Communications is responsible for design, integration and
daily operations of the security of the data transport network. This

Qualifications



· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information
Systems, Engineering or equivalent experience. Professional certification
in either vendor specific or industry standards in network or information

· Prior hands-on professional experience with Enterprise Class
firewalls (Juniper Firewalls, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco ASA), routers and
network switchers.

· Linux experience is a plus.

· Understand both network and application layer firewall
technologies. Apply knowledge to manage complex firewall policies that
employ NAT, application layer gateways, and policy based VPN's.

*Job Description: *

Provide network security design, implementation and consulting for data and
converged communications infrastructure based largely on Cisco equipment.

While performing this role the candidate will be responsible for:

•  Perform network engineering tasks such as designing and
implementing firewall rules, establishing VPNs with partner companies,
performing AAA administration, designing and implementing access control
lists, and installing software upgrades on network and security equipment.

•  Engage Operations and IT Project teams to analyze security
risks, propose mitigations and lead security improvement projects

•  Leading technical teams (including staff, vendors, and
consultants) to identify and resolve complex, client application and
hardware problems impacting availability and performance of the systems

•  Acting as the primary resource to client and IT staff in all
phases of implementation and support process and provide high level support
and consultation to business and IT management.

•  Working with project and development teams to ensure
solutions are aligned with support requirements and that the transition and
delivery of new systems or upgrades are seamlessly transitioned to
production support teams and suppliers

•  Knowledge and ability to perform the roles of Network
Engineer routing and switching.



After hours callout is required in the performance of the duties and
responsibilities of this position.

Required Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:

•  At least 7 years of progressively complex networking and
security experience including hands on experience with Cisco products – ASA
firewalls, ACS TACACS, routers, switches

•  5 or more years of experience implementing solutions with a
concentrated focus on security, performance, scalability, and reliability

•  5 or more years of experience implementing Checkpoint
firewalls

•  Expert understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP,
access-control lists, VPNs, firewalls, SSL, IPSEC, and dynamic routing
protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP

•  Excellent problem solving / analytical skills and knowledge
of analytical tools

•  Cisco certifications – Cisco Certified Network Professional
(CCNP) Data Center or Route/Switch





Desired Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:

•  5 or more years of experience implementing F5 Load balancers

•  Cisco certifications – Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
(CCIE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

•  Experience with and general understanding of NERC/CIP rules
and procedures

•  Excellent analytical and problem solving ability

•  Understanding of general IT standards, policies, best
practices, guidelines, processes.

•  Ability to document and present material to Senior Level
Management

Additional Critical Information:

•  High Level Access background check required

•  24 X 7 callout availability required

Role Overview
The Platform Engineering team is a highly skilled team of senior engineers
that are experts at managing and integrating various third party Security
and Networking platforms into the environment. This team, in collaboration
with other teams and business stakeholders, is at the forefront of
providing the security tools which enhance our security operations center,
corporate security, applications and ensure world class set of managed
offerings for our customers. Our managed platforms include, but are not
limited to, technologies from vendors such as Trend Micro, Symantec,
McAfee, Bit9, QRadar, Microsoft, etc.
As the subject matter expert on their technology, the Platform Engineer
plays a critical role, and will be accountable for the success of his/her
platforms. This will need to be achieved through ongoing planning,
coordination and alignment, both internally within the team, and also with
partner teams such as Product Management, Software Engineering, Customer
Implementation Services and Support Engineering.

Role Responsibilities
•Maintaining centrally managed consoles and critical infrastructure
that enable our SOCs to centrally manage third party security technologies
•Evaluation of new product lines and features for currently supported
products
•Participate in an on-call rotation for outside business hours
escalations, and top tier escalation support for Operations based teams
•Collaborate with internal teams like Customer Implementation Services,
Support Engineering, Software Engineering, IT Operations, Finance and
Procurement to ensure efficient service delivery
•Responsible for production and lab infrastructure specific to
platforms under ownership, including planning for cost effectiveness and
growth
•Anticipate operational issues and develop preventative measures

Qualifications
•Hands-on experience with security tools such as IBM QRadar, Trend
Micro OfficeScan, Trend Micro Control Manager, Trend Micro Deep Security
Manager, Trend Micro Secure Cloud, Bit9, Symantec Endpoint Protection,
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, etc
•3 years working within Information Technology and 1 year specifically
in Information Security
•Strong organization skills and personal framework for consistency,
accuracy and repeatable deliverables
•Strong communication skills - written and verbal, team player for both
technical and non-technical audiences
•Ability to drive key initiatives, with minimal direction with strong
interpersonal and client service skills
•Demonstrated experience in fostering collaboration, innovation,
creativity and teamwork, analytical capabilities
•Strong problem solving skills, providing solutions in a systematic and
clear manner, easily understood and followed by subordinates and colleagues
•Must be familiar with security software products and audit tools used
in distributed computing environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Active
Directory, Internet security, network security technologies, and third
party security or audit tools is required. In addition; understanding how
to implement application level security controls and mechanisms
•Must be familiar with Linux and have a minimum of 1 year managing
Linux based security products

Preferred Qualifications
•Working understanding of Agile software development
•Working knowledge of networking and security technologies
•Strong background in host based firewalls, antivirus, syslog, network
security management, application layer firewalls, application layer
security and architecture
•TCP/IP protocol suite; advanced subnetting and network address
translation

. Contract Duration: 3-6 months

. Location: Marlborough, MA


Min Requirements:
5+ years of experience working as a Security Engineer.

*   Candidate must be a Senior Security Engineer and have experience
with at least one of the following three technologies - Palo Alto, Blue Coat
and or Source Fire.  They will be working with all three but having 1 of the
three will suffice.
*   Must have experience with Cyberark.
*   Candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
and be able to manage several initiatives at one time
*   CISSP would be a big +.
*   Experience in Securing Amazon Virtual Private Cloud Infrastructure
is a huge plus .
*   Technologies Firewalls, ideally Palo Alto.

This is an on-site role.


• The client has a smaller environment and they are seeking a 
well-rounded/experienced 
Checkpoint Firewall engineer to work with their senior technology security 
person. 
• This role will involve working with the GUI of checkpoint ( creating firewall 
rules) they Are also seeking someone that has experience with rollouts/builds 
of the firewall ( the hardware side also) 
• They also require hands-on knowledge of
• Network Access Control, 
• DLP
• Secure Rule Creation
• Experience with IPS/IDS
• VPN Tunnels & Troubleshooting them.
• Blue Coat Proxy.
• Command Line Interface Troubleshooting experience.
• They are seeking someone that has hands-on experience building a firewall 
from scratch ( from the ground up) 
• They also utilize GAIA in the group. They prefer a candidate with GAIA over 
Smart Dashboard.

Building Checkpoint 2200’s for each of Staples North American stores.
Running R77.10/R77.20, these firewalls will be built out with 3 Virtual
Firewalls. Coordination with installing groups is required to update
policies, handle store relocations, configurations of interfaces when new
equipment is brought online, and troubleshooting general connectivity
issues. Once the rollout is complete, the position will be responsible for
ongoing Retail changes and troubleshooting.



*Skills required: *

Checkpoint Experience, up to and including R77. Will consider experience
with lower versions as long as it’s recent.



*Required: *

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related
field

• Minimum of 8 years overall IT experience
