Hi Bryan-

Thanks for the email. In the Monday meeting, you have cleared my doubts.
I'm setting up this environment. To test the script.
Next Monday meeting I believe I may have doubts/suggestions on this.

Thanks a lot for the mail.

Subject: [Models] vHello_Tacker pre-reqs

Trinath,

I saw a note on the #opnfv-models channel but did not get a chance to respond

* bryan_att: hi, for running VHello_Tacker.sh, what is the pre-required
environment ?

For Danube, I am still updating vHello_Tacker.sh and the related
tacker-setup.sh to Newton. They will be intended to work on any deployment of
OpenStack Newton (even Devstack), using either Centos 7 or Ubuntu Xenial as the
host where you run the test. The test will deploy tacker in a container on the
host. All you need to do is pass the admin-openrc.sh script location. But again
it's not quite ready and I will let you know when it is.

For Colorado, the test requires Centos 7 or Ubuntu Trusty as the host, and is
designed to work only with OPNFV based deployments through JOID or Apex.

Thanks,

Light agenda. I am mostly focused on trying to get Danube support completed

Other topics welcome.

An update - still working on this. When testing with devstack, I'm running into
some strange issue between heat and nova. The instances stay in build state a
very long time and heat times out. I'm trying to find an OPNFV Danube env in
which I can test to see if this is a devstack-specific issue.

But if you want to try out the latest code, clone the Models repo and pull this

refs/changes/55/29455/2<https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/models%20refs/changes/55/29455/2>

Note also when testing on an Ubuntu xenial desktop I had to do a couple of
extra things as noted at https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/bryan-devstack to enable
docker container to devstack VM traffic.

If you update your Models repo clone, you will now pick up the following tests

vHello_3Node_Tacker.sh<https://git.opnfv.org/models/tree/tests/vHello_3Node_Tacker.sh>
vHello_Tacker.sh<https://git.opnfv.org/models/tree/tests/vHello_Tacker.sh>

We’ll verify these on additional deploys over the next few days. Devstack
should work for the simple
vHello_Tacker.sh<https://git.opnfv.org/models/tree/tests/vHello_Tacker.sh> but
for Devstack in a VM (virt-manager) you will likely need to do some extra setup

I did deploy devstack directly on a host recently and found that it messed up
the host too much. They actually recommend against it. Another reason to use a
VM is to limit the host resources that Devstack can gobble (it can be greedy).

But if you do deploy directly on the host, you may not need some of the extra
notes at the top of
https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/bryan-devstack<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__etherpad.opnfv.org_p_bryan-2Ddevstack&d=DQMF-g&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=OrbtGCluczz9awEKz9Fv7g&m=cWFuq64dyVoySadfAj-_IU0pVAp0p6oyPvh1Z04oDK4&s=ujCmA2kiNsRbad7RFndt191bOjp0occz0ZaJUsbPKSs&e=>.
 Otherwise it should work. I'm also testing with Packstack (all-in-one) direct
on the host, which is essentially the same as Devstack, just more tweakable.
My notes on that are at https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/bryan-packstack.

FYI I found one big issue with the way I was doing the vHello tests and have
some patches that should be merged tomorrow that will make it work much more
reliably. Turns out that if you don't pre-define a glance image but rather
reference the image as an artifact in the blueprint, it takes about 10 minutes
for OpenStack to prepare and launch the image, and that causes Heat to timeout
(stack create failure). I went back to pre-defining the image as part of the
setup step so it should work much better. I'll probably merge those patches
tomorrow: https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/29711/

2017-03-08 Thread Trinath Somanchi
I have spawned devstack VM and started vHello_Tacker.sh.

vHello_Tacker script ended with error [1] around juju.

I have installed Juju-2.0. But still I get the error, ERROR unrecognized

Any update or work around is required for this issue?

Kindly help me resolve the same.

I did deploy devstack directly on a host recently and found that it messed up
the host too much. They actually recommend against it. Another reason to use a
VM is to limit the host resources that Devstack can gobble (it can be greedy).

But if you do deploy directly on the host, you may not need some of the extra
notes at the top of
https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/bryan-devstack<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__etherpad.opnfv.org_p_bryan-2Ddevstack&d=DQMF-g&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=OrbtGCluczz9awEKz9Fv7g&m=cWFuq64dyVoySadfAj-_IU0pVAp0p6oyPvh1Z04oDK4&s=ujCmA2kiNsRbad7RFndt191bOjp0occz0ZaJUsbPKSs&e=>.

Do we really need to have Devstack installed in a VM ? What are the steps if
it's directly installed on host?

Trinath,

If you update your Models repo clone, you will now pick up the following tests
and related updated blueprints, as verified on an Apex Danube virtual deploy:
vHello_3Node_Tacker.sh<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__git.opnfv.org_models_tree_tests_vHello-5F3Node-5FTacker.sh&d=DQMF-g&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=OrbtGCluczz9awEKz9Fv7g&m=cWFuq64dyVoySadfAj-_IU0pVAp0p6oyPvh1Z04oDK4&s=mh2AJHss7wxYStQyM2AZnGrIEEQrYKwqSa6WfShgPMQ&e=>
vHello_Tacker.sh<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__git.opnfv.org_models_tree_tests_vHello-5FTacker.sh&d=DQMF-g&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=OrbtGCluczz9awEKz9Fv7g&m=cWFuq64dyVoySadfAj-_IU0pVAp0p6oyPvh1Z04oDK4&s=Nrws_2qS-3yMSLQ9nseBfCL-IPIo9ZhR_kW1FtP_zyU&e=>

We'll verify these on additional deploys over the next few days. Devstack
should work for the simple
vHello_Tacker.sh<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__git.opnfv.org_models_tree_tests_vHello-5FTacker.sh&d=DQMF-g&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=OrbtGCluczz9awEKz9Fv7g&m=cWFuq64dyVoySadfAj-_IU0pVAp0p6oyPvh1Z04oDK4&s=Nrws_2qS-3yMSLQ9nseBfCL-IPIo9ZhR_kW1FtP_zyU&e=>
 but for Devstack in a VM (virt-manager) you will likely need to do some extra
setup as noted at
https://etherpad.opnfv.org/p/bryan-devstack<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__etherpad.opnfv.org_p_bryan-2Ddevstack&d=DQMF-g&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=OrbtGCluczz9awEKz9Fv7g&m=cWFuq64dyVoySadfAj-_IU0pVAp0p6oyPvh1Z04oDK4&s=ujCmA2kiNsRbad7RFndt191bOjp0occz0ZaJUsbPKSs&e=>.

Trinath,

The OPNFV SFC project is based on OpenDaylight SFC only.

I know there is some OpenContrail support in OPNFV, but there is no SFC support
from OpenContrail available in OPNFV.

Will there be any video recording for the technical session/ PoC demos/Breakout

These videos will be more helpful for the enthusiasts to understand OPNFV and
encourage to contribute to the community.

Also, moving forward this will help guide the technologists to frame clear

I request the TC to give a thought on this.

Great that you could join!

I don’t think this is the right forum for a discussion on lab as a service.
LaaS is more focused on enabling development environments in our infrastructure
whereas this BoF will talk about needed equipment build practices in carrier
networks.

Hi Pharos project,

I have proposed a “birds of a feather” session on the Monday design summit at
14:30 to discuss a topic related to Pharos - Infrastructure build practices;
scale up, constrained and on premise devices.

I’d like to start dialogs around how we can approach evaluating and documenting
additional build practices in NFV environments from scaling up beyond the
minimum Pharos POD, to small form CO equipment, to residential on-premise
devices.

The idea is not to resolve these topics during the session, more to identify
how to structure dialogs and contributions to OPNFV when we want to investigate
and align on these physical forms. Please try to make the time to come along
if you can, it is scheduled for the time-slot after the OPNFV Infra Discussions
topic. It may be the “OPNFV Infra Discussions” topic is the right place to
discuss these topics, if that is the right approach I would be happy to have
this topic called out explicitly in one of those time-slots rather than as a
separate topic. (not fussed either way, I thought a BoF would be an easy way
to incubate a dialog.)

Hi Manuel-

I think, we need a separate repo for this. Like roles repos at
http://git.openstack.org/cgit/?q=openstack-ansible

Can you share the necessary steps required to build this? Also,
openstack-ansible must also be updated.

Comments ?

Hi Trinath,

I have been talking to Juan and we think that it would be great if you help
with tacker and as you have experience with it, probably you will be able to do
it very quickly. Starting next week I want to focus on openstack-ansible too,
so if I could help you in any way, please tell me.

If possible, we would like to have a first version of tacker running with
openstack-ansible by mid-June, so that we have some room to test and fix bugs
which might appear when integrating everything. Do you think you could have the
time to do it?

Hi Trinath,

First of all, thanks a lot for working on this!

I checked with osa guys and no work has been done for tacker role yet.

My suggestion to you is to take a look at the documentation explaining how new
roles can be contributed to osa. [1]
As explained in the documentation, you can start this work in our repos. Once
the basics are in place and working, we push it to upstream to get their
feedback and finalize the integration.
My proposal is to use opnfv/releng-xci repo for this work in a new directory
openstack-ansible-tacker. [2]

Please also join to the #openstack-ansible channel to ask osa questions if/when
you have them - all osa people are very responsive and helpful. (they are also
aware of what we are doing in OPNFV.)

Hey Trinath,

I have good news! I looks like I have tacker working for the aio flavor in xci
:D

I am using:

Releng master.
This fork of OSA: https://github.com/manuelbuil/openstack-ansible
This tacker role: https://github.com/jrametta/openstack-ansible-os_tacker

We should aim to bring that role to OSA upstream but it requires some polishing
and I am so far unable to contact the owner of that repo. He might be on PTO
though...

Hi all:
   As JackChen (chenjiank...@huawei.com<mailto:chenjiank...@huawei.com>) do
a huge help for container4nfv , and finish two jira tasks. Then our project can
pass MS5 in E release, that’s important step for our project:

  1.  https://jira.opnfv.org/browse/CONTAINER-18 Create ping test case(k8s) in
yardstick
  2. https://jira.opnfv.org/browse/CONTAINER-17 Add kubernetes context in
yardstick

Another thing is JackChen can attend weekly meeting every week. He is so active
in our project. So please kindly give your vote for nominating JackChen as a
commiter for Container4NFV.

My vote is : +1 .

Nominations should be posted to opnfv-tech-discuss & opnfv-tsc mailing lists by

As nominations are accepted, I will add them to this

NXP team,

Alex is correct in that we do not yet have a plan of record for heterogeneous
pods. But this has been discussed within Arm and we see it as a useful use case
where controllers and compute nodes can be different architectures. We will
seek to plan for this in 2018. I will reach out to your team regarding your
immediate needs.

Hi,
We don’t have such patches, nor do we plan to support old Fuel any more.
We actually don’t intend to mix architectures for the new Fuel either, at least
not in the near future.

If you want to support this use-case, you will have to implement it yourself.
I do think the new Fuel is friendlier to this scenario, but again, we never
looked into it.

Alex

So, in the current ENEA Pharos lab, you are using ARM based machines as OS

Hi, Srikanth,
I’m glad to hear about new AArch64 hardware joining OPNFV.

First, note that Pharos specs require 5 nodes, which depending on the scenario
can be used as 3 controllers + 2 computes, or 1 controller + computes.
This makes it hard to mix x86 and ARM targets in a Pharos POD. Therefore, this
is not supported by OPNFV Danube 3.0

All,

I'm happy to announce the results of two community elections.

First on the Committer Board, Dave Neary has been elected as a new Board member.

Next on the Committers-at-Large TSC, the following 5 people (listed
alphabetically) have been elected to the TSC.

  *   Bin Hu
  *   Fatih Degirmenci
  *   Jose Lausuch
  *   Kubi/Gaoliang
  *   Maryam Tahhan
A quick note on the TSC election. We actually had 2 people from Huawei (Kubi
and Gabiel/Yuyang) finish in the top 5. However, according to Section 4 of the
TSC
Charter<https://www.opnfv.org/software/technical-project-governance/tsc-charter>,
 no single company can have more than two votes on the TSC, and Huawei already
has a Platinum designate in the TSC. As a result, the next most successful
candidate was selected.

Thanks and congratulations to newly elected Board & TSC members

Hi Trinath,

Congratulations!!!

You may be aware that a subgroup of container4NFV is providing recommendation
for container technologies. Some recommendations to start with are:

1. VM & Container Orchestration by Kubernetes 2. VM & Container unified virtual
networking using OVN and Multus.

Using this initial set of recommendation, a working PoC is one focus area of
container4NFV group.

Since OVN4NFV project's main focus is on OVN (is one of the recommended
networking technology), there could be some possible synergy between these two
groups.

It would be good to know the OVN4NFV goals. Are there any weekly meetings you
intend to setup? If so, keep US PST zone in mind in your timings :-)

Thanks
Srini

Subject: [Functest] PTL transfer

Hi,

It has already been 2 releases being PTL of Functest, and it is time for me to
transfer the role to other team members. It has been an honour holding this
position trying to drive things in the right direction and I am very proud of
the team and what we are achieving. This is not a goodbye as I will be still a
committer and the interface to the TSC.

After talking to the committers of the project, only one person has volunteered
to take over this position, so there is no need for running formal elections.
Therefore, I would like to propose Cedric Ollivier from Orange who is very
active in the project and is helping it evolve with his good expertise as a
software developer. His engagement in Functest and the whole community is very
valuable and I believe he will fulfil the required expectations of the PTL role.

Please Functest committers, vote (+1, 0 -1) answering to this email thread.

Eligible voters are listed in the INFO file as committers:

The error clearly says, “Permission denied”. Please configure the public key in
your gerrit settings.

That can resolve the issue.

Hi,

For I can not find your patches in
https://gerrit.opnfv.org<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgerrit.opnfv.org&data=02%7C01%7Ctrinath.somanchi%40nxp.com%7C5aebe61865944565a05608d5675d67d2%7C686ea1d3bc2b4c6fa92cd99c5c301635%7C0%7C0%7C636528573247100057&sdata=%2BlpEBMb3YTSkR53vqTQPBPKOtwi5mgheexa%2ByGf7yN8%3D&reserved=0>.
 I do believe that you don't send your patch for review.

If you want to send a patch for review, please try it in terminal like below:

git review -v

As in your screenshot, I guess you don't have git-review package installed
through pip in MINGW. You only can use "git review" command if you have
installed git-review.

2018-03-08 Thread Trinath Somanchi
Hi Cedric-

Excellent work. Congratulations to the Testing team.

Can there be some video session/presentation on using xTesting and K8S scenario
testing with Test frameworks.

This can help enthusiasts around to understand the new frameworks.

Subject: [opnfv-tech-discuss] Xtesting is released

Hello,

Functest team proudly announces the first publication of Xtesting.

Xtesting have leveraged on Functest efforts started from Euphrates (python
framework, docker slicing, dependency management, etc.) to provide a reference
testing framework allowing SDN/NFV testing on any type of infrastructure.

In Fraser, Xtesting aims at allowing a smooth integration of our new Kubernetes
testcases and offers a possible reuse of our frameworks in other OpenSource
projects such as ONAP [1].

Xtesting could ease building any CI/CD toolchain for other domains than testing
VIM.

Functest, Functest-kubernetes and OPNFV Feature testcases have already been
adapted to leverage on it.
A special thank for all OPNFV Feature projects which merged quickly the related
gerrit changes.

Be free to run the default samples if you want a try:

via docker (you may note that the docker image is very "light" <100Mo) $ sudo
docker run opnfv/xtesting

via pip (python2)
$ virtualenv xtesting-py2
$ . xtesting-py2/bin/activate
$ pip install xtesting
$ sudo xtesting-py2/bin/run_tests -t all $ deactivate

via pip (python3. Both are supported)
$ virtualenv xtesting-py3 -p python3
$ . xtesting-py3/bin/activate
$ pip install xtesting
$ sudo xtesting-py3/bin/run_tests -t all $ deactivate

If needed, I can organize a session/discussion at ONS.
