Re: Wish me luck
Sally, Your past professional experiences will surely enhance the hospital labour ward culture don't forget mothering is a proud profession too! You'll surely get lots of questions about your homebirth experiences. Enthrall your colleagues by discussing the professional satisfaction of being with women 'all the way' and giving babies a drug-free start to life. Make plans to erode the hospital culture and inspire the midwives to take on their own case load and work within the full dimensions of their title. Who knows, perhaps we'll hear that your hospital is about to offer a homebirth service to the surrounding community next year? Best of luck in your new venture Jan Robinson I've been a mum and homebirth midwife!! So it will be a culture shock for sure. I'm in geelong. My sincerest congratulations to you all in your efforts to date on the PI crisis facing Australian Midwifery. It is my hope that our partners in crime, midwives, will acknowledge all the hard work, and commitment from women (consumers) like yourselves and many others when it comes to the vote at the ACMI AGM in September to include consumers as equal partners within the ACMI - in the true spirit of partnership and in recognition of the vital role that consumers play in the promotion and protection of the midwifery profession.
