Hello,
If Billy uses save as dialog in Goldwave, then he can write or browse to
the folder he wants to save the files, but if he uses batch then he should
press ctrl-tab several times until he hear folder and then tab to edit
field
where he can type in the location he wishes, or tab once more to browse
botton and there fined the folder.
All the best,
Marijan

If you're referring to the batch convertion, there's a file locations
tab. You can specify in that tab where you want your files to go and if
you want existing files overwritten.

Question about GoldWave, really important to me

2005-04-01 Thread TerriStimmel
Hello everyone,

I'm needing to record something this afternoon, but I won't be home when
it's going to be on.

So I was wondering, can you set GoldWave to start recording at a certain
time, using the Line-in source?

If so, how do I go about setting this up?

I want to connect my boombox to the computer, sense this program I'm wanting
to record, will be on the radio.

I have windows XP, GoldWave version 5.8, and Jaws 5.1, if this helps.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

Re: Question about GoldWave, really important to me

2005-04-01 Thread Bruce Toews
Set things up as if you were going to do an ordinary record from the line
in jack. Now hit F11 to get into your controls dialog, and control-tab to
get to the record tab. If you have it set to unbounded, you'll want to
change it to bounded to selection so you won't keep recording
perpetually. There's a button for delayed recording. Check this, and then
next to it will appear an edit box for your record time. This is the time
of day, in 24-hour format, that your program starts. Probably want to
start a minute or so earlier. Next to that you select the day of the week
you want to start recording. Now click on OKAY. Use control+n to create a
new file. Set your quality and the length of the file you want. Remember
to add a minute to the length if you had it start recording a minute
early. Then press control+f9 to start recording, and the delayed recording
should take effect. Don't forget to go to the record control properties
afterwards to change things back.

I hope this is of some help.

Hi Sun Sparkle. I have found that when using Winamp with Live 365 I have to
log in to the Live 365 service before attempting to play a stream from them.
For whatever reason, I have found that when using Real Player, I don't have
to log in every time. That being said, listening options are always more
accessible with Winamp, so it might be worth the inconvenience of needing to
log in.

One other worthwhile mention here... as a live 365 VIP member I can
downlload and use radio 365. The version of this application which has
just been released is quite accessible with WindowEyes, 5.0, though not so
good with Jaws 6.0. For non-VIP members, Radio 365 can be purchased for $14
and something. A demo is also available. This lets you access live 365 from
your desktop, but again I should stress that so far I haven't been able to
make it work with anything but WindowEyes.

If you have Sound Forge SF * at least I mean you can open these files

from .mpg files.
BT SF 8 will definitely do so.

Subject: Problem with MPG Files

Hi all. I thank everyone who tried to help me with this, but I didn't
seem to get much help. These files that are on this CD that are MPG files
are a challenge. I don't really want to listen to these stories on the
computer; so I have to find some viable solution. I don't know if I can
convert with Soundforge, or convert to WAV or MP3, or what I can do.
Should I use a trial version of Nero? Or Easy CD Creator? Or Premier CD
Creator? Is there a solution to this that doesn't entail sitting in front
of my computer to listen to these stories. MPG's are video files. Maybe
I'll have to make a DVD to play on my DVD player, where I eventually want
to play these files. I can play DVD's, naturally, on it; I can play MP3's
on it, but I can't play those MPG files on it, unless maybe some sighted
assistance can help me get round this problem. Please, I would like some
real solutions. Pardon my rant, folks.

2005-04-01 Thread Larry N
Hi Robin. Have you tried using the VIP player? This is a different option
than Radio 365 and I don't really know what's different with it from a
techie standpoint. However it does give you the best possible audio
quality, and when used in conjunction with jaws, it works fine for me. I
guess your other solution would be to download the WindowEyes demo (which
works up to 30 minutes) and Radio 365, which works well with WindowEyes.
That seems a shade drastic, but it should work. You could also use Winamp,
WMP or Real, but then there would be no reason to pay the VIP price.

I have recorded 1 and 7/8 ips reel to reel tape at 3 and 3/4 speed and of
course have found the recording too fast. I'm fairly sure that it's possible
to slow this down to the normal speed by changing the sample rate but am not
sure what to do. Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

Re: combining 2 wave files

2005-04-01 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Chris,

Do you still have the CD? If so, you could use CDEX to rip the two tracks
as a single track by selecting them both and using the option to rip a
section of the CD into either WAV or MP3.

Appreciate this is no good to you if you don't have the CD but thought it
worth mentioning.

I do not own Goldwave. Can someone recommend a tool for combining audio
files such as separate tracks from a classical CD into one single larger
track? I rip from Winamp into M4A format.

Re: How do I erase a cdrw

2005-04-01 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Kevin.

You can erase the CDRW easily enough in Nero. Simply start Nero, assuming
you have burning ROM here, and press alt + R to open the recorder menu. Now
arrow down to the erase disc option and press enter. Choose whether you
want to do a quick erase or completely erase the whole disc, choose your
erase speed and tab to the erase button pressing enter to start the process.

 for scrubbing the cdrw.

I done a shift f 10 and their is quite a few options but no erase I
phoned the shop that I bought the discs from and they said the discs
 need to be formatted.

I wonder if some one could talk me threw how to do this I am using
premier easy cd creator I know you don't have this program dean but
maybe some one does have it on this list.

On that matter their is supposed to be an update to this program with
a copy disc facility on it but it's not available yet as far as I
 know.

I do have Nero I think it is version 6.somthing but I did not get on
with the program all that well it's taken me a while to grasp all this
computer stuff but I am getting their at last.

If some one can just talk me threw how to format the cdrw that I have

Disregarding the Premier burner, since I haven't used it, put your
 cdrw in
the drive. Now go to My Computer, arrow to that drive, and hit either
shift-F10 or your application key. Arrow through the resulting menu
 and
one of your choices should be Erase CDRW. Try that, and ask if there
 are
 any complications.

Re: Problem with MPG Files

2005-04-01 Thread Jerry Richer
Gary! MPG is short for MPEG which stands for Motion Picture Experts
Group. It is a protocol for compressing Video and Audio. An MPG file has a
video component, a audio component and information that defines what video
goes with what audio. MPx is the audio component of a MPG file. In your
case you have MP3. There are MP1 and MP2 and MP4 as well. When you load an
MPG file into something like Sound Forge that is only designed to handle
audio you get just the audio part of the MPG. I better stop. I'm getting
onto thin ice here.

If you're referring to the batch convertion, there's a file locations

you want existing files overwritten.

Two more questions, concerning this delayed recording.

Twenty-four hour format, that's military time right?

So if my program started at 5:00 this afternoon, I'd put 17:00 in the time

I just thought I should make sure I had this right.

Also, are you saying that after I set it all up, I have to press control F9,

I wasn't sure if I was understanding that right.

Thank you,

Robin, did you get Radio 365 or the VIP player. The reason that I'm asking
is because you don't really have to interact with the VIP player. You just
load it, choose it as your default player, and it pops up when you choose a
station from their website.

If you need a hand at finding the right player, just let me know.

Re: live 365

2005-04-01 Thread Stan Gowin
Hi,
I'd recommend using the Live365 player, not Winamp. Fortunately it's fairly
accessible, at least version 1.0 of it is. I haven't tried their newest
player, and since it boasts of having skins, that may mean it's less
accessible than its predecessor.

Re: live 365

2005-04-01 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi Stan, Peter here. I've tried the Player 365; I can get onto a radio
station okay; however when I leave the whole computer just freezes up; I
think that site uses Flash; I wonder if updating the FlashPlayer if prompted
would solve that issue. I use Windows 98 SE, Jaws 4.51, and IE 6 on a
computer with 64 megs of RAM and clock speed of 333 MyhZ. Please let me
know if updating flash, or removing it altogether, might solve this problem
of the computer freezing? Thanks.

2005-04-01 Thread Larry N
Are you talking about the stand alone desk top player? I'm using version 1.1
with WindowEyes and actually it's more accessible than 1.0. The skins idea
put me off too, but I'm glad I tried it. I haven't had as much luck using it
with Jaws though.

playing nero image n r g files?

2005-04-01 Thread Rusty Bourgoin
Hi folks,
I have several nrg files, cd images created by nero
6.something. I'm wondering if there is any software that will play these
as is, or must I first burn them to cd. Also, if software can play these
files, is there anything that can rip these images into mp3 files without
having to waste cd's since I plan to listen to these songs on my computer,
anyways? Any help appreciated. As an alternative to plowing through 85
cd's or so, I'll try using a re writeable cd.

Hi,
check to see if your version of Nero includes Nero Image Drive.
It will load the nero image as a virtual CD Drive.

Re: Slowing down

2005-04-01 Thread Gary Wood
Hi Gordon. I think you can slow it down by cutting the sampling rate in
half, or you can use pitch shift, if you have Soundforge or Goldwave.

Subject: Slowing down

Hi
I'm sure I've seen something about this on the list before but can't
remember what to do. Can anyone help?

I have recorded 1 and 7/8 ips reel to reel tape at 3 and 3/4 speed and of
course have found the recording too fast. I'm fairly sure that it's
possible to slow this down to the normal speed by changing the sample rate
but am not sure what to do. Can anyone advise?

Thanks.
