Re: Ear buds - anyone got suggestions?

2005-12-18 Thread Kathy szinnyey
Hey, Jeff and all! I've bought the nice Cos (son't know spellling) earbuds
from Circuit City. I think they're called Sports Earbuds because they have a
piece that goes over the ear so they're not always falling out of your ears
while you're sporting. Don't know if they'd be the quality you want; I think
they cost around $15 or $20, but they suit me fine!

  Hello,

My ear buds I bought from Radio Shack died and they don't sell the model
that I had from them before. In fact, they told me I was trying to return
headphones that weren't radio shack brand. Ohhh well, so much for buying a
  warranty.

So, anyone got any suggestions on a good sounding pair of ear buds? I want
to stick with ear buds so that I can hear when walking with my guide dog so
I can continue to listen to podcasts.

  Jeff

Re: Winamp question

2005-12-18 Thread Bruce Toews
It sounds like you're almost asking for voice recognition. Now, if the
book were being done in DAISY, all of this would be available to you. But
the feature you wanted regarding continuing where you left off is
available in Winamp if you are a JAWS user. Otherwise, I'd recommend a
portable MP3 player with resume capability.

launchcast radio and the my station

2005-12-18 Thread Tyler Wood
Hi,

I know you have to rate stations with this radio system:
http://ca.music.yahoo.com/launchcast/stations/default.asp

or rather, your station, if you have one. (You have to sign up to yahoo! to be
able to make your own station).

Anyway, has anyone got the rating system to be accesible; or even usable?

thanks,
Tyler

PS: usually, I just listen to the stations that it lists, but I'd like to have
my own kustom station (say, I want it mixed: pop, rock, alternitive, etc etc).

I haven't bothered because I thought I might have been doing something

15 minutes; and so I resorted to e-mail them. I gave them my phone number,
and they told me that they had attempted to call me. The number was correct,
so I got a sited person to create me an acount, as it has a graphic

I guess I can try there support again, however much luck I will get I have

Re: launchcast radio and the my station

2005-12-18 Thread Darrell Shandrow
Hi Tyler,

We certainly must start out by asking. If only a couple of blind people ask
for accessibility once in awhile, well, that's just not probably going to
garner the level of attention it deserves, but if we all start asking
frequently...

We're largely completely off the radar screen with these companies. It is
up to us to get ourselves on that screen!

I will, (I have my ways...). But seriously, I bet if us, as a blind
comunity, demanded to have what is right for us (accesibility), they might
 well do some rethinking.

 Hi,

I know you have to rate stations with this radio system:
 http://ca.music.yahoo.com/launchcast/stations/default.asp

or rather, your station, if you have one. (You have to sign up to
 yahoo!
to be able to make your own station).

Anyway, has anyone got the rating system to be accesible; or even
 usable?

 thanks,
 Tyler

PS: usually, I just listen to the stations that it lists, but I'd like
 to
have my own kustom station (say, I want it mixed: pop, rock,
 alternitive,
 etc etc).

Dvd decrypter will allow you to browse for a folder where you want to

 to
burn a dvd and it won't fit on your disc. I've never used dvd shrink

problem recording midi files.

2005-12-18 Thread Allison Mervis
Hi all!
Goldwave and I seem to be at odds with one another. I am attempting to record
some midi files so that I can save them in mp3 format, but once again, whenever
I play the saved file in winamp, I hear nothing. This is really frustrating. I
looked under volume and recording settings, but couldn't see anything that
needed change. However, seeing as how I don't know what the problem is, I
really don't know what, if anything, I should change. I'm about to buy one of
those midi converting tools, but having tried a few, they seem to be
inaccessible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I'm willing
to send my midi files to anyone who would be willing to get them recorded for
me. I need them for a show tomorrow.

the feature you wanted regarding continuing where you left off is
available in Winamp if you are a JAWS user. Otherwise, I'd recommend a

Alison, it really sounds like you're not setting something correctly in

Re: Winamp question

2005-12-18 Thread Bruce Toews
Yes, but you can't enter a word to search for in an audio file without
some pretty elaborate voice recognition. And the nice thing about a time
marker is you can have a hundred files and don't need to memorize a
hundred time positions to jump to. Winamp should really implement this.

Well I thought I'd try the Walmart site and, for the most part, it seems
accessible with Jaws. But for those who have used it, where in the world is
the download and how can I find it?! I bought one song just to try this out
and it took me forever and several steps and trials and errors to find the
thing. I couldn't even find it when I went to start menu and search! I'd
like to be able to move the items from wherever in windows media that
Walmart puts it and place these purchased songs in my regular song folder.
Is this not possible? I finally stumbled on it by control tabbing a lot in
windows media and going to library button, but if someone can tell me an
easier way and perhaps a way to copy my Walmart songs I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for any help.

 Hi all!
Goldwave and I seem to be at odds with one another. I am attempting to record
some midi files so that I can save them in mp3
format, but once again, whenever I play the saved file in winamp, I hear
nothing. This is really frustrating. I looked under
volume and recording settings, but couldn't see anything that needed change.
However, seeing as how I don't know what the problem
is, I really don't know what, if anything, I should change. I'm about to buy
one of those midi converting tools, but having tried
a few, they seem to be inaccessible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
At this point, I'm willing to send my midi files to
anyone who would be willing to get them recorded for me. I need them for a
 show tomorrow.

I couldn't say but I'd say that if your talking about Norton Ghost I'd say
no but if your talking abought I think it's slysoft.com that has a ghost

clonedvd.net and I know I saw it somewhere.

iPod shuffle problem

2005-12-18 Thread Paul Oeser
I used annapod to load an audible book on to my iPod. Most of the
time I can do this without any difficulty. When I loaded my last
book on to the iPod it lost the connection while I was loading the
book. I reformated the iPod and updated to the latest software. I
can load the same book on to the iPod but it won't play. Is there
something that the iPod sees that won't let it play this book? How
can I fix this?

Dvd decrypter will allow you to browse for a folder where you want to

Yes its jaws friendly and you can copy comercial DVD's. Do you know that
AnyDVD is not a copy program but a kind of driver. You can use your favorite
copy program and have AnyDVD loaded and then all communication to and from
your DVD drives goes thru AnyDVD. AnyDVD removoes copy protection and region
codes on DVD's and CD's.

 My Journal

BlindTech

2005-12-18 Thread LisaP Briones
Hi everyone,
I had a question I don't think is for this list. I used to belong to
BlindTech for this type of question, but with all the restores and such on
this computer, I lost the subscribe info. Could someone please tell me how
to subscribe or if the list isn't still around, give me the name of another
good one for technical questions that aren't particularly screen reader
specific? They're just different programs and behavior issues type of
things. Thanks.

RE: Ear buds - anyone got suggestions?

2005-12-18 Thread Paul Henrichsen
I really like the ones that you can buy for an Ipod. You always see them on
that rack with the rest of the Ipod stuff. They cost around 40 dollars, but
they do close off your ears as they are cushioned.
Maybe those aren't called ear buds. They come with three sizes of rubber
cushions.

Subject: Ear buds - anyone got suggestions?

Jeff

Re: question about wireless router

2005-12-18 Thread Don Ball
Have you tried resetting the router or changing the cables.. I like the
dlinks quality and the fact that it works well but its website is not as
accessible. I liked the smc website and the linksys routers are accessible.

I'm looking for an accessible wireless router, what would anyone recommend.
I'm currently using a Linksys but it's going bad, it won't let me change
anything like passwords etc.

Thanks,

Chuck

Re: Gold Wave

2005-12-18 Thread doc
the easiest way is to pull one song up first
then pull up the next
You can control tab between the two songs at that point. which ever one you
wish to conbine at the end select that track
control+a
then control tab to the other track
then control+e to add to the end of that track
then control+a to reselect then play and see if that is what you want.

You missed the control+c copy command, which needs to be entered after the
control+a. GRIN

Snapstream

2005-12-18 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi
I'm not sure which list will deal with this and so I apologise in advance if
I'm treading on the wrong toes.

I recently downloaded the 'accessible' Snapstream 'Beyond TV' to make use of my
tv tuner card. I've followed all the instructions and have a channel list but I
just cant seem to change the channels withthe page up or down, or the arrow up
or down keys.

Can anyone offer me any advice?
Thanks.
