Re: Is the timed recording accessible in Sound Forge?
Sorry, should have explained myself in more details. Yep! I mean that Sound Forge is known for its unreliability when it comes to audio recording and it is suggested that you "optimise" the software for recording, this isn't straight forward however and I've had times when - even after optimisation is completed as detailed in the help files - I still get gaps in Recordings, its also known that Sound Forge has a huge overhead which probably explains the recording problems. On the other hand Total recorder does what it says and does it well! when it comes to recording and usually no defaults need to be altered. Hmm, Sound Forge unreliable in what way? Do you mean that Sound Forge has recording issues versus Total Recorder? Re: Is the timed recording accessible in Sound Forge?
Only me I'm sure! but I've found the Sound Forge record dialogue box to be a bit of a joke as far as accessibility is concerned particularly when it comes to advanced features such as timer recording. I have a word I've always lived by and that is the word "Convenience", it was more convenient for me to purchase Total Recorder as I know this software to be accessible, the standard version will do what you want and only costs $11.00 from memory, not only that but its a far more reliable recorder than Sound Forge has ever been. On 22/09/2011 2:29 PM, Matthew Bullis wrote: Well I've never had to use this feature before, but I'd like to know if the timed recording feature is accessible in Sound Forge 10? If it was just leaving for a day and returning, I'd just leave the recording going, and trim the before and after, since I have enough hard drive space, but I don't have that much for this project. I'd not be able to record 48 hours straight. If the timer feature is accessible, will it let you choose a time for the next day? Thanks a lot. Re: recording sound without the screen reader coming through?
Dave, One would have to know more about your wireless headset to be able to know what is happening. If the transmitter just plugs into your headphone jack, you are using the same sound card with a different configuration that may or may not separate the streams. If it is a USB wireless headset, it may have a separate sound card, but it may by default be trying to route everything to the headset, since it is designed to simulate headphones. There could be some options buried somewhere that can control what happens when you use them, but I'm guessing the problem wouldn't be any different with JFW or other screen reader. What happens when you use the headphones and do not change anything, what do you hear? What happens if you use headphones, and if you hear everything, and you were to switch Window-Eyes back to your original sound card? I am thinking that your headphones are pulling all sound to them and that you changing Window-Eyes to headphones may not be doing anything. A lot depends, though, on how your wireless headphones connect and what they do. Hi Steve, I'm with you on the apple thing. Shrugs, drm, to hell with it I say. Here's the strange thing about switching soundcards with window-eyes. When I switched the card from my internal one to my wireless headset and had configured goldwave, or maybe it was total recorder, to record with the internal one, I still got window-eyes coming through as if it had never been switched over to that wireless headset. Dave, I know that David Tanner has some knowledge of Window-Eyes, so I wish he would explain how JFW is superior in this regard. As I understand it, there are some limitations how one can redirect the output of SAPI synthesizers, but one can redirect the output of the version of Eloquence that comes with Window-Eyes to a different sound card as I believe one can with JFW's version of Eloquence. Interestingly enough it is not only me from down here who have a hearing loss that prefer the british speech. I know of quite a few of uswho actually told me the same thing. If you then use balabolka you can convert text to a .mp3 with the jaws Reid voice. I do not know about the UK english Reid voice. However, I find the very odd phrasing of especially the realspeak voices a bit difficult to understand. Hence my question: Has anyone ever written such a programme which turns text files into audio files using the Eloquence speech synthesizer? That would also mean if you e.g. like the british voice, it then uses the british voice as it is already installed on your computer? Just curious. Re: Loquendo tts.
Hi back; to begin with, their entire site is very unfriendly. I have contacted them several times and as you thought, they do not seem to sell to individuals. I also like their voices and have even looked for cracked copies but no go so far. But they might not be compatable with sappi. They really do a bad job with their PR! It is an Italian company and maybe that is the reason...Noodle Brains! I gave up on them about six months ago. I do get their news letters and have been watching for their sales to us common folks. If you do find anything out, please post it for us.
