In Studio Recorder the exporting and saving of files is disabled, so far
so good but the problem is that the Save As dialogue box is also
disabled thus you have no idea what formats are available for you to
export or save to unless you rummage through the Studio Recorder manual,
a very bad oversight on behalf of the developers and perhaps this can be

the old saying, If it ain't broke then don't fix it, just because a piece of

Re: Sound Forge Pro 11

2014-02-10 Thread Joe Paton
Christopher,
forgive me writing.

This is a complex topic.
There is no noise reduction pluggin or system on the market, that does
not vary the original source audio. Can the varyation be heard with the
human ear? Depending on the cost, and you can pay thouzands of pounds
for proffessional software, the varyation may be more acceptable than
with less expensive packages, but not always necessarily so.

Depending on the frequency of the unwanted noise, will determine how the
overall bandwidth is effected, by cutting, or reducing these
frequencies. But the software is more clever than that, and works by
sampling and re-sampling techniques and much much more.

The question you need to answer, is What noise do you want to reduce, or
remove. Can you use equalization techniques to useful effect? Are
their any third party pluggins that you could introduce to your existing
toolbox?

There is a jazz programme I listen to, and a large amount of the music
is from 1930 and later to say mid '60s. Much has been attacked with
enhancement and reduction software, and sounds, to my ears, totally
ruined. A false top end, say for Cymbols and other instruments of that
frequency range, and a varying top end that vanishes and comes back
during the playing of the track. Middle frequencies, 440 Hz and below,
are often sounding false depending on the instrument playing. There is
extra cibilance added to the human voice when it is recorded with a high
quality microphone and the top end is lifted to a false summit.

The problem is made worse by the narrow bandwidth and compression used
by the bbc stations which cary this particular programme. Our digital
broadcast media is offering us verry poor quality audio. If this were
picture broadcast, the mailbags would be overflowing with complaints
about poor visual quality. As listeners, the digital revolution has
left us with some verry poor audio indeed.

Hope you sort it out to your satisfaction, after all, that is all you
need to do. Satisfy your own ears, it's your music, and you have to
listen to it.
Kind regards and good luck,

Joe

At one time I had a stand alone audio feed for 2gb that I could pull up in
winamp. Might you have
that feed or where might I find it on the webpage?

For 2UE just find the Windows Media link, copy this to the clipboard and paste
it into Winamp, I'm not using Winamp here as I'm using VLC but it should all be
the same, can't exactly remember the command you use in Winamp, I think its
ctrl-l to open a URl?

Another question for Dane

2014-02-10 Thread Donald L. Roberts
A few weeks ago, you, Dane, posted a tip for optimizing the reception of
an a.m. station on the CC2 enhanced radio from C Crane company. I have
remembered those instructions incorrectly. When I press and hold the
lower right button of the four buttons to the left of the up and down
tuning buttons, the radio starts scanning, and nothing I do will stop
that scan. Please tell me where I am missing the boat.

Thank you.

Re: Another question for Dane

2014-02-10 Thread Dane Trethowan
Okay perhaps I didn't explain things correctly, can't remember exactly
what I wrote so I'll try again.

To align the CC 2E radio and you only need do this once.

Press the upper right of the 4 small circular buttons and hold till the
radio beeps, - the upper right is to the left of the larger 2 circular
buttons -.

When the radio beeps press the upper right button again, radio will
start aligning/calibrating from the bottom of the dial and you'll hear
the radio stepping through the AM band.

This will take perhaps 4 or so minutes and then radio will stop tuning
and you'll be at the 520KHZ end of the AM band.

For your reference the upper right button of the 4 circular buttons is
the frequency/time toggle button.

All I can say is enjoy!

I've had my Denon AVR2113 as my entertainment hub in my lounge for just under a
year now, hardly a day goes by when I'm not amazed by something or other that
this unit does, everything from listening to Audio, interacting with my Smart
phone, Watching TV and listening to Internet radio is nothing but pure pleasure
through the Denon.

Try the Restore mode which enhances your Internet radio listening and see
what you think, I strongly believe that you haven't heard Internet radio until
you've heard it through a receiver such as this or something similar from
Yamaha etc, the DSP processing makes a huge difference even if you're listening
with 2 speakers or in Pure Direct mode, in this mode all the circuitry for
video etc is bypassed and you get a direct audio path from your source to your
speakers.

Anyway no point me rambling on because I could ramble on about the Denon
AVR2113 for a week at the very least smile, you have a few models above mine
and I'm filled with envy! smile.

Now that's a bargain!

Of course the price of my model fell through the floor not long after I bought
it but no complaints whatever, I think the AVR2113 is a discontinued model now
so - whilst discontinued - its still a damn good receiver and you should be
able to get one for a song, say $500 or so.

As has been said so often, you just can't keep up with technology.

Re: Demo Of Studio Recorder

2014-02-10 Thread Dane Trethowan
Firstly, its cheaper than Sound Forge Pro and its been designed with
accessibility in mind thus has a full feature set which is entirely accessible.

the manual is well laid out and easy to get to, I sent a link to that yesterday.

Editing/navigating keystrokes are straight forward and easy to use, I haven't
found out yet whether it handles Daisy recordings but I suspect it does given
that Studio Recorder has a navigation menu which allows the navigation by
sentence, paragraph etc.

Hi Ray,

I don't know if Dane replied privately, but direct URLs to 2GB to paste
directly into a media
player, with different bit rates are as follows:

mms://202.58.32.111/MMN_2GB

At one time I had a stand alone audio feed for 2gb that I could pull up in
winamp. Might you have
that feed or where might I find it on the webpage?
