airplane mode turns on and off the WI-FI capability of the Victor Stream.
When WI-FI is on, the Stream will transmit radio signals, which is not
desirable while on an airplane; this is the same idea as Airplane Mode on a
smartphone.

Do you have the wi fi capability set up. This will allow your Victor to
communicate with your computer network and thus to the internet and radio
stations.

Iphone 6 not impressed with the speaker.

Hi!
Actually i got to try the Iphone 6 today not the plus just 6.
I can say that to me the speaker doesn't really sound that impressing.
At least i couldn't hear any differences from the 5 s.
Voiceover was quite distorted as it used to be so i wont really go for one even

Having listened to a youtube video on a comparison between the original
5, 6 and 6 plus, I can say that I definitely notice a difference. It's
most noticeable between the 5 and 6, but even from the 6 and 6 plus, the
plus does sound a little more clearer. Unfortunately, the microphone
that the uploader was using wasn't super high quality, but it was
certainly decent enough to detect the levels of bass between the 5 and
6. I've also got a buddy who's got a really nice sounding mic, a yeti,
and while in stereo, the differences between the two phones is huge, the
5 and 6.

Take care.
Blessings.

It has great audio quality and it is an in-ear headset with some
geometry which supposed to keep it in the ear, but it did not work well
in that it would eventually creep down and fall out unless I helped by
turning the headset a bit. The other thing the Bose lacks is any way
unassisted to get a battery indication. It has great Bluetooth
connectivity whereas some of the Plantronics ones do not, the Legend
seems pretty good that way as well in that it does not cut off the first
 sylable like some phones do.

The model of Plantronics Wireless headset I mentioned is this on

Its not a Bluetooth headset, rather its a Wireless headset designed to
 be used with a computer.

The Headset comes with a USB dongle which plugs into your computer.

When the Operating System is launched it detects the Dongle thus your
Plantronics Headset becomes another sound device which software such as
 Skype can access.

The Headset is build well and design is excellent without a doubt, if
you buy one of these models then it should last you for quite some time.

Its not a top of the line model but for chats and casual music
 listening its perfectly fine.

Also bare in mind that the Headset is a closed type rather than an
open type, - the ears fit into cuffs instead of the Headset sitting on the
 ears -.

I got rid of the Plantronics model actually, not because of any fault
of the Headset but rather because the cuffs around the ears didn't really
 suit my hearing requirements with
 my hearing instruments.

Firefox 33 to Add Voice and Video Calling

2014-09-30 Thread Steve Pattison

Hi all,

I don't know if this feature of Firefox will work with screen readers
but I've just read that Firefox 33 which is currently in beta will let
you make free voice and video calls from Firefox without the need to
download any plug-ins or install any additional software.

With new stable versions of Firefox being released about every six weeks
we should be able to try this feature fairly soon. If you're happy to
try beta software you could download Firefox 33 beta 8 which is the
latest beta and try the feature now. I'm running version 32 which is the
latest stable version so I haven't tried this feature.

More information about this can be found in the article at

If you type set default into the start menu search box the first result
 you
should see is set default programs. Press enter and tab once to see a
 list
of your programs. Arrow down to winamp and tab to the choose defaults
button and press enter. Then you can tab until you see a list of file
types. Arrow down until you find the CD and check the box. Then tab to
 the
 save button.

I hope this clarifies things a little. My apologies for the previously
 convoluted post.

I had no illusions that audio on the iPhone 6 would be lackluster.
iTunes is falling behind in innovation with online music services
severely out innovating Apple. Apple CEO Tim Cook knew he had an
iTunes problem and had to do something different in music for Apple to
stay cool. Apple bought Beats Music in part to modernize its music
offerings beyond the suburban bland mediocrity that is now iTunes.
Beats was acquired in the spring, too early to be incorporated into
iOS8 or the iPhone of 2014, the features of which are developed and
designed many months in advance. I believe it will be until the 2015
introduction of the new iOS and iPhones will we see what the new
people and change in culture will mean for Apple users. One big way
for Apple to differentiate itself would be to re-establish the
company’s supremacy in online and portable music. I am looking
forward to iOS 9 and the iPhone of 2015 to learn about any changes in
audio from Apple on mobile devices.

Having listened to a youtube video on a comparison between the original
 5, 6 and 6 plus, I can say that I definitely notice a difference. It's
most noticeable between the 5 and 6, but even from the 6 and 6 plus, the
plus does sound a little more clearer. Unfortunately, the microphone
that the uploader was using wasn't super high quality, but it was
certainly decent enough to detect the levels of bass between the 5 and
 6. I've also got a buddy who's got a really nice sounding mic, a yeti,
and while in stereo, the differences between the two phones is huge, the
 5 and 6.
 Take care.
 Blessings.

iTunes and Other Music Services

2014-09-30 Thread Dane Trethowan
so as to avoid any confusion, iTunes really has nothing whatever to do with an
iPhone 6 or any other iPhone model for that matter given that - the version of
iTunes that appears on an iPhone - is dependent on the IOS running at the time
- in the case of an iPhone 6 that IOS would most certainly be IOS 8 and above -.

Is iTunes falling behind the times? It would be if people stopped using it
which they're obviously not but I do understand where you're coming from and I
think it likely that Apple will merge or form alliances with other Music
service, I think Apple bought one recently.

On 1 Oct 2014, at 10:40 am, Kelly Pierce kellyt...@gmail.com wrote:

iTunes is falling behind in innovation with online music services
severely out innovating Apple.

Re: iTunes and Other Music Services

2014-09-30 Thread Kelly Pierce
Dane,

There seems to be some confusion between iTunes the software and the
iTunes division at Apple. The company puts all its music efforts in
this division, whether or not it calls them iTunes. When it bought
Beats Music, Apple signaled that it definitely wants to shake up its
music offering. We will see how this plays out in the next year or
two.
