yes because it actually starts recording slightly before the scheduled
time. this is noticeable when recording and splitting tracks regularly.
its so you don't miss anything while its converting the files at the
split point.

Hi my friends. Does any one here still use the Accessible Podcatcher from
www.webbie.org.uk ? Or have people moved
on? Just

asked because either my PC's hard drive has errors on it already or it
causes them. Because I had refreshed the PC, and all was well and
good. Then
I installed it and all was well and good for a few days. Now how ever,
the
shortcut doesn't work, it says feature ID not regestured, and the comp
keeps

going on about drive errors. Also it's stuck in an endless update and
restart loop. I think it wants to go to Windows 10 but can't since the
drive

is so screwed up. Personally, I think something's up and I need to have a
friend format the drive like brand new. But just wanted to see. I
wanted to
see if it's even remotely possible the PodCatcher opened some old
woond as

it were. Because funny thing is that all was well and good until I came
along and put it on the PC. Also it's install path is blocked. I can't
even

uninstall it to reinstall it. Something about where the MSI file goes is
screwed. Thanks for any answers.

Re: Winamp SQ crosfader

2015-08-12 Thread dennis

i use it all the time. here are the instructions.
you go in to the preesets tab of the configuration, and
choose radio, then press the load button, then locate the close button
at the bottom of the screen and left click it, then in cross fading
tab, move the signal analyze thing down to negative 15, and in the fade
on stop skip, check the box that says flush the buffer, then in the
advanced tab, uncheck the box that says cross fade tracks longer than,
and it should fade pretty close to the parameters of a radio station,

VLC is the most flexible and configurable player I've ever had the
fortunate to use and it plays every format I've ever thrown at it

On 3/30/2015 2:07 PM, Dane Trethowan wrote:
I think a description of the radio is in order since you've gone this
far.

With the radio facing you the speaker is on the left.

To the right is the first of 3 control panels , moving down the front
of the radio you find the very large display with a small button in
the top left hand corner, that's the light on/off/dimmer button.

Below that are 4 buttons in a square which control the displaying of
time/frequency, programme start/stop time, setting of alarm and so
on. As far as I know there is no way we can use these so leave these
buttons alone.

To the right of those 4 buttons are the up/down buttons which are larger.

Below these buttons are the bass and treble controls.

On the right hand side are 2 knobs and a switch, the bigger knob is
the jog-dial which clicks when turned and can be pushed in.

The smaller knob is the volume control which has a raised line benief it.

The switch in the middle of the 2 knobs locks/unlocks the radio, you
may notice a small detent, that's so the switch cannot be accidentally
knocked.

Below all that is the stereo headphones socket.

Moving to the top, there are 8 buttons here, 5 are round buttons with
numbers written on them, they're the preset buttons.

The large triangular button on the right turns the power on/off and
also sets the sleep mode when held down.

The triangular button on the left controls the band, AM, FM, UHF and
Weather bands, switches the radio to Aux-In mode when held down.

The smaller button to the left of this sets the weather warning light,
don't know how that works as we don't have that system over here.

Re: Real tech sound cards

2014-08-27 Thread Dennis
i just got 2 new machines a few months ago. they are both using windows
7 64 bit and i have a real tech in both of them. i use the real tech for
the music and a usb turtle beach for jaws. i have no trouble with either
soundcard in either machine.

It may be necessary for me to purchase a new windows desktop PC
running windows 8.1. I seem to recall posts from a year or two ago
stating that the quality of integrated sound cards, Real Tech in
particular, was deteriorating. So I am posting this to inquire about
what to look for and what to avoid in an integrated sound card.

I am not about to spend the kind of money that some on this list have
spent for hi end cards, so I would hope that this discussion will be
limited to integrated sound cards. In the past, what I have done is
to use the integrated card for the music and the USB sound card for
the screen reader. I am aware of course that this is the reverse of
how hi-end card owners configure their PC.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Try this.
Press enter on Library control on main user interface.
Prress alt+l to open the library menu.
Choose start recording from library menu list.
Also go to the folder on your hard drive where the recordings are

Amen to that dennis. I would also love it if they came out with a follow up

Honestly, all this fuss about a FM radio, everyone knows that a FM
radio in a device such as this - whether it be a Phone or similar -
is bound to be inferior to a dedicated FM radio.

The only real reason I can think of that Hims Inc would bother
putting one of these into their products is because they can, a bit
like Tecsun giving you 3,000 memories into a radio, not because they
particularly serve any practical purpose having that many, just
because

Tecsun can do it.

Its the OCR and associated functionality that I would think is more
appealing about this equipment than a FM radio.

this along with the mp3 player in the xt not being as good really
makes me edgy about this being a good product. when they added voice

Humanware got a device out for $369 with the same basic feature set

for OCR. So, the OCR better be really good since you will be
paying the

difference in price for that feature.

You think so? I'm surprised that Hims Inc can get a device as
feature packed

as it is out the door for the price.

Unfortunately, I doubt that you will be able to find a sound card which has
Jaws friendly software.

However, go to techbuy.com.au and do a search for sound card.

There are still several cards made by Creative (even though their model
names do their best to hide the nature of their functions).

I suggest that you look closely at the Asus XONAR cards.

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest a good quality internal sound card where the accompanying
software is JAWS friendly. I want one with separate line in and microphone
jacks and if possible two sets of stereo line out. My old Sound Blaster Live
could do this.

Thanks very much,

I also read a review of the Zoom H2N which has been around for a little

well i would suggest reading reviews on the booksence or booksence xt.
yes, if it does what it says and doesn't have a lot of bugs it would be
worth the price. but as a booksence xt owner, i would take my time and
make sure that all is what its suppose to be with this product. the
booksence xt is a great product and i love it for most things, most!
things. it is not a good mp3 player for music, it also has a fiew other
issues that in my opinion make it worth a lot less than they charge for
it. just my 2 sence worth folks...

Hi list. Here's my 2 cents: there's a program called SpeakOn Media
Suite; you can go to

www.speakon.org

to get the scoop on this free program; if you have registered with Tunein
Radio this program can handle that as well; the program is self-voicing;
I've been trying it out, and find that it works well; it's also free.

Don't want to repeat myself over and over smile but for the price you
can't really go past the Zoom H1 recorder which is available for under
$100.00 if you look around, I've had mine now for nearly 3 years and just
wouldn't do without it, I use it to record everything from live good
quality recording to voice memos.

Sampling rates range from 44.1-96KHZ and you can record in either Wave or
MP3 formats.

Recorder has a switchable AGC, Roll-off filter etc.

Good evening Hank and list,

A pretty decent and free multi-track sound editor is audacity which can
be

downloaded from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
The program can also be obtained via unintended installation from
www.ninite.com/audacity. It does a pretty good job and has seamless
looping
and is generally effective at noise reduction. Other multi-track editors
are
Reaper and Sonar, with Sonar being the most expensive. Reaper has a
fairly
generous trial period and is fully functional during the evaluation
phase.

HTH and best regards,

Subject: alternative to WMP 12 to play streaming .asx files

Hello

windows7 64bit user.
WMP12 that comes preloaded on my win7 PC is just not working right to
stream audio content over the internet. this is a known Win7/ WMP12 issue
and diff options to resolve this have failed for me. so my Q is not how to
fix WMP12.
Are there any screen reader usable audio players other than Windows Media
Player that will play .asx files?

thanks

Dennis, you can subscribe by visiting audiopass.nfl.com. If you have an
iPod or iPhone, download the All Football App. You can listen to college
and pro games. It's cheaper too. The App will cost you $1.99, or
something like that. I think they have just a pro football version too.
You can hear all of the teams, or at least I was able to hear them all
last week.

One involves removing tape hiss and the other involves removing noise from
vinyl records.

If I take gold wave and sound fordge out of the picture which I must do,
what other stand alone programs can I use to accomplish these tasks.

I will consider gold wave only if there are some good plugins to
accomplish my tasks cause I don't like gold waves built in noise
reduction.

I also don't like how gold wave handles previewing and some of the buggs
there in.

Having said all that recommendations please or have I effectively nailed

It is a program for getting the audio of a DVD so you can listen to it
on something else like an MP3 player, CD player or anything else with
out having to load the movie just to listen to a cirtain chapter or 2.
I love it. It helped me learn how my movies should sound on a good
surround sound system. When I went to listen to the Bose Lifestyle V35
when it came out, I knew what to listen for thanks to DVD Audio
Extractor. I want to buy it, but sadly I'm buying all movies on
Blu-Ray now and it can't do Blu-Ray Disks yet. I hope it becomes BD

Hello all.

I wanted to watch a DVD, Toy Story 3, on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop.
The DVD has audio description. Anyway, I tried playing it with Media
Player Classic Home Cinema, a DVD and general media player that comes
with the Combined Community Codec pack. Well I couldn't get as far as
the menu could I! Plus, the menu system of the application completely
disappeared! So next I tried VLC Media Player. This was slightly
better in that I could get at least the first chapter of the DVD
played. But when it moved onto the next chapter it repeated the first
one! So finally, I tried to play it with DVD Audio Extractor. It
worked a treat! The entire DVD played fine with absolutely no problems!
So my recommendation for a fully accessible, easy to use DVD player,
which also happens to extract audio, is DVD Audio Extractor,
www.castudio.org. Unless there is another similar DVD player out
there that is just as fully accessible and easy to use, I might
consider purchasing the program!
Hope you like my recommendation, and happy viewing!
