RE: basic recorder softwarer with editing functions

2010-11-17 Thread Milton Ota
There are a number of basic audio editing software out there:

Goldwav is quiet popular and is reasonably priced and screen reader
friendly. Window Eyes and JAWS have script for making the program more
functional.

Total Recorder is another. It is somewhat screen reader accessible and
somewhat considered keyboard friendly. I know of no scripts for Window Eyes
or JAWS.

The program from American Printing House is Studio Recorder and is screen
reader Friendly and keyboard friendly. It will work with the both screen
readers mention above. The price is something like $200.00. It is the most
expensive of the most simply usable recording software that I'm aware of.

Lastly, there is Audacity which is freeware and screen reader friendly. I
found that you have to probably find a plug-in for mp3 creation and get it
properly installed.

Let me ask you this, do you know what is the file extention that you are

Do you know where the file is saved and how to navigate to the file when you
use the Open File option under the file menu?

Is your copy of Total Recorder a Registered copy?

I don't think you have answered these questions so that people on the list

If your copy of Total Recorder is not Registered, there are certain

Yes, Replay a/v is the definite choice for recording in Vista. It captures
the audio or video stream before the soundcard ever sees it, so ordinary

In fact, I don't think there's much we can do about it, but I can always

High Criteria support:

Hello Dean Martineau,

Under Windows Vista with Total Recorder an output of another software
(including Internet transmission) can be recorded in three ways:

The first one is in SoundBoard mode from a loop-back line. Regretfully
in this case you cannot avoid recording your screen-reader.

The second way is in Software mode using the Total Recorder user-mode
audio driver (for more information on using Total Recorder drivers
please refer to the following link
http://www.totalrecorder.com/tr_drivers.htm). Using this method you can
set Total Recorder to record an output only of a certain application.
Regretfully this method will not work with the majority of playback
program.

The third way is in Software mode using the Total Recorder kernel-mode
audio driver. For Total Recorder not to record a screen-reader in this
case you can try one of the following:

1) set a screen-reader to use directly your soundcard driver (not Total
Recorder driver);
2) do not set the Total Recorder driver as a system default device, but
set a playback program an output of which you need to record to use the
Total Recorder kernel-mode driver.

Regards,
High Criteria Support Team.

Subject: using Total Recorder 7 with software speech

It seems that, while Total Recorder 7 does allow recording using Vista,
  its
former ability to separate out software speech and record only the
desired
source has gone away with the new kernel driver. Has anybody
successfully
made a recording with it and maintained screen reader use? I can't
figure
  out how to do it.

Flac and Windows Media Player 11

2007-12-09 Thread Milton Ota
Does anyone know if Flac will play in Windows Meida Player 11?

Do I need a plug-in for WMP 11 for Flac?

Anyone know of websites that are using Flac?

Thanks.
