Live Streams page updated
Hi all, A significantly renovated version of my page http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams is now available. With the changing from Southern Hemisphere summer to winter, all Australian football codes and English cricket are back. Note that the Bigpond streams to AFL and NRL are no longer available. NRL is directly reachable from ABC and 2GB streams. AFL is reachable via a link to a page from which is selected a particular game, linking to the AFL Match Centre page of live radio feeds. Also, the ABC has updated its radio streams and there is now a neat way to reach all of these. The forensic analyst may spot apparent inconsistencies with the names of various ABC services. Every attempt has been made to reference these in accordance with how they are listed on the ABC website. Please write privately if you spot 'opportunities for improvement'. Cheers, Stephen Stephen Jolley Melbourne Australia Too much .. Is never enough. http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams
NBA Game Day Audio
Hi all, In past years, I've been able to access from Australia, Game Day Audio on a windows machine from nba.com. This year, I can't seem to find any evidence of it, only TV streams. So I would appreciate answers to: . Is Game Day Audio available on a Windows or Mac machine and if so how does one get to it? . Is it available through the NBA iOS app? Guidance will be appreciated. Sheffield Shield cricket final
Hi all, The Sheffield Shield final starts tomorrow featuring NSW and WA. ABC radio will be there full time on their Digital Extra service with some coverage between football on the normal Digital Grandstand. Online it will be available from cricket Australia via the web and their app or via the community radio SportFM in Perth. Links to the streams can be found from my page http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams . Pretty sure streams will be available world-wide. No, I don't know of any streaming of the ICC World T20 but suspect it will be there for a modest subscription. Google may well track it down for you after the start of the first match at mid-night: 15 Australian Summer time on Saturday. Accessible Australian Football online and mobile
Hi all, The new AFL season starts Friday March 14. For screen reader users, navigating the AFL website http://www.afl.com.au/ to live audio streaming is rather challenging and around the AFL app is quite fiddley. Here is a solution that may work for those seeking a better way. From my page http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams under the AFL etc. heading is a link to the 'Current match list http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/afl-radio '. There is still in this area the pair of links to each radio service. This 'Current match list http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/afl-radio ' link' brings up a list of matches for the round , each of which takes you to the AFL Match Centre page for that game with links to each of the stations covering it. You may also like to copy (perhaps by email), the 'Current match list http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/afl-radio ' URL to your mobile device and even save it on your home screen. This will give convenient mobile access to any commentary underway. Good luck, Stephen Stephen Jolley's page: http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams Current match list: http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/afl-radio Too much sport is barely enough.

Streaming of Australian Open tennis
Hi all, I'm aware of two internet streams of the Australian Open which may suit Kevin and others as an alternative to XM Radio. Ashes cricket coverage improvement
Hi all, Last week, it was reported that the Cricket Australia live audio streams are now available world-wide. Unfortunately, between the first and second test, adjustments to the website page removed access for screen reader users. It is pleasing to report that CA have now restored the page to a state where it is possible to find the play / pause button for each stream and access the commentaries. When invoking the streams it is important to ensure that focus is on the button. You still may experience unpredictability but with persistence should get to the gold. It is worth noting that an additional broadcaster is now in play. It is the commercial organisation, Fairfax Radio. The Triple M network will also join the group for the Big Bash League domestic twenty20 series from December 20. You can reach the Cricket Australia Live Audio streaming http://www.cricket.com.au/live/audio-stream page from my http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams page. The $60.00 is far more configurable and gives you more VPN protocols to use, you can use a VPN for secure Internet browsing for example so its not specifically just for listening to audio. Now a question for you, does the $35.00 per year allow the user to have multi sessions through different servers? Say for example you can be listening to one radio station in the U.K. whilst listening or watching/recording something else from the U.S. On 6 Dec 2013, at 12:22 pm, André van Deventer andred...@webafrica.org.za wrote: The only thing I need it for is to listen to the sports broadcasts on bbc five live and five live extra. Note also that Steve refers to Rugby League as NRL and there tends to be multiple games at the same time and the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) has 2 streams for each game. International cricket can currently be heard from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm on the east coast of the USA but as it is being played in England, the weather might determine when or if there is any play on a particular day. Australian Rules football may be heard between midnight and 10:00 am on the east coast of the USA but be warned that this is a game whose rules and terminology may be mystifying. It is a game that you need to have actually played to be able to understand what is going on. For that matter, cricket is also a game that you actually have to have played to appreciate the finer points of what is going on and what the terminology, tactics and strategies mean. Although it is not difficult to appreciate the danger of a 5 ounce ball being bowled at you at 100 miles per hour. If you calculate how long it takes a ball travelling at 100 miles per hour to cover 22 yards of a cricket patch, you will get some idea of how little time a batsman has to react to a ball which could be going behind, in front of or (if he is not careful) directly into the batsman's body. If you are interested in a more general audio stream about sport and have the program tapin radio browse through the Australian streams for ABC grandstand which is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's general sport stream which covers all kinds of sports. Improved access to streamed AFL Live Radio
Hi all, My page http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams has a new feature. Those who follow Australian Football and use AFL radio streams may be interested in an additional method of access that I have configured. For some time the AFL have used flash technology through its Match Centre pages. These have been difficult for us to access directly from the AFL site but are now available in a much friendlier way via my page. Under the AFL section you can now link to a list of current matches. From this list you can reach the AFL Match Centre page which lists the radio stations covering that game with links to Flash streams when the commentaries are active. A nice thing about this approach is that the streaming delay is reduced so match that from at least Windows machines it can be heard sooner than a digital radio broadcast. Mobile users of Voiceover will find it more accessible than the mainstream AFL app as the list of radio stations is spoken. To reach the streams from your mobile device you can access the http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/afl-radio page from this link http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/afl-radio and use the utilities dialog to add it to your home screen. Good luck. I hope you find it useful. Note, the previous method for accessing the streams from my page is retained. Cricket - India v Australia
Hi all, Sorry I haven't responded sooner but have been out of contact over the last day or so. I am not aware of any audio streaming of this series. ABC local radio has the radio but not streaming rights and is streaming alternative programs while the cricket is on. You might find video streaming with TV commentary from a search such as Google, but be ware this can be misleading as it may merely only show up old data. It is a sorry state of affairs that business factors get in the way of what technology can provide. Things should be better from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa over the coming months. In the case of Australian originated cricket, in recent years the ABC stream has been restricted to within Australia but Cricket Australia has made the feed available internationally. Refreshable Braille clock for broadcasters
I trust this is not off topic as it does relate to broadcasting in a digital environment and this list is rich with broadcasters and technical operators. I'm looking for a way to monitor the current time by second. This was a very handy feature of the Braille Lite, but I can't find any other way of doing it. Pac Mate does have a stopwatch feature but this is cumbersome when you're wanting a live cue, counting up to mid night etc. Anyone with any bright ideas. Suggestions off list would be welcome. Australian Rules Football on the BBC
For those interested in the AFL match in London this weekend, read on. Geelong and Port Adelaide meet in the AFL clash at the Oval this Saturday October 21. BBC London will be streaming live audio of the match. Coverage starts at 1:30 London time, that's 10:30 Saturday evening in Eastern Australia. BBC London is one of the 40 local radio stations in England and like its counterparts delivers lots of live sport all year round, on a range of platforms including the internet. I've noted one or two posts from people extolling the virtues of Replay A/V but noting that some Urls do not record. Here's an observation that may reduce this short coming. Re: Replay A/V - about Urls
They both have their pluses and I wouldn't toss either out. For example, Replay A/V is great for scheduling streams and can of course record more than one simultaneously. Total Recorder Professional has terrific editing features for people like me who don't want to do anything too fancy but just manage excerpts from files. That's just touched the surface. My point is, they're both pretty good. Very accessible and each having its strengths. Re: Replay AV
Thanks Jonathan for that great review pointing us to Replay AV, a marvellous product. I am having trouble with the Convert to MP3 function. From the main screen, I can invoke the copy. Can manage with a bit of mucking around in jaws cursor mode to select a file and have it land in the playlist pain. After invoking 'Convert to MP3' with spacebar, a dialog comes up with one control, which is 'cancel'. The counter ticks over until reaching 100 %. Then the thing stops. 'Cancel' is still the only control (not a 'finish' to be found), and on hitting 'cancel' one returns to the previous screen and on 'exit', is back in the main screen. A '.mp3' file is nowhere to be found. Does anyone have any experience of this function to relate in order to set me on the right track? Will be much obliged. I do realise we can have the initial recording saved in MP3, but one doesn't always intend to keep a recording and a format like 'rm' preserves the original quality and uses minimal storage. Re: Replay AV
Thanks Jim. After more testing, I think there may be a bug when trying to convert large files to MP3. I got it to work with a small WMA file and also had luck with a small RM file. Those I'm not having success with are RM files of about two hours duration. Stephen - Original Message - From: Jim Fettgather [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. I probably would not have even found the convert to mp3 function if you had not mentioned it on the list. It seems that you're right, while just about all of the program's functions are keyboard accessible, this particular feature seems to need some mouse pointer interaction. I might suggest that you try a different WMA file, as I have had most convert successfully, but an occasional failure, just as you described. - Original Message - From: Stephen Jolley [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. Not that I know of. Re: recording live streams.
Hi Joanne, I use Total Recorder, and it meets all my needs. If you have trouble connecting to the streams, make sure your recording parameters (button to in main dialog) are okay. The recording source must be software whereas from an externally connected device like a hifi amplifier would be soundboard. In your volume parameters, you may have to have playback device set to total recorder. Hope those tips help. Stephen - Original Message - From: Joanne [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. I think it's pretty much limited to winamp and the streams you can pick up with winamp, but DJC can correct me if I'm wrong there. It was a little tricky to figure out the jaws commands when entering times, but once I got it I really have had no trouble. I also have total recorder which I think is more versatile as far as working with media player and winamp, but I've not been able to figure out how to get it to connect to the station. Setting the record and timer functions was easy, but I can't get it to connect to the stream and I've asked for help here but didn't get a response. I don't have the exact website I got mediarecorder from, but I did a google search and it took me to a download site. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
