Subject: Anapod Explorer and the iPod shuffle

Hi folks
I just recently got myself an iPod shuffle. If you don't know what one of
these little beauties is, where've ya been?
check out http://www.ipod.com and go to the iPod shuffle link. Ok with all
that out of the way, here's the situation. For a while now a lot of people
have said that the better program to use to transfer songs to your iPod is
Anapod explorer, located at http://www.anapod.com
It gives the process of transfering songs a windows explorer type of
interface, and I'm definitely for that. I didn't and in its current state,
won't ever install iTunes.
So I got everything set up. I hooked the iPod up to my computer's USB port
and just as it should, Windows XP recognizes the iPod as a drive, it's
drive g in case anyone is interested. You're supposed to make sure you can
do this before you get started with Anapod Explorer. Ok, so i did that. i
then went and downloaded and installed the newest version of Anapod
explorer, I got the trial version and right now I'm glad I did because as
I write this I'm still not able to use it much.
They tell you to connect your iPod to the computer via USB. Then, you're
supposed to go to the system tray and right click on the Anapod manager
icon, and choose the connect iPod shuffle option. When I do this I get
an error message saying that Anapod couldn't find any windows iPods, even
though Windows can see it as a drive. It suggests running the updater and
restoring the iPod to its factory defaults, which i did.
Every time I try to access the shuffle in this way I get this error
message. I'm wondering if anyone else who uses this software has had a
similar error message, and if so, how'd you get around it? also, are there
any other accessible programs for transfering songs to and from your iPod?
I'd really love to actually use the thing I paid so much for.

Thanks.

I've taken a rather long look at the freeware editor called wave pad from:
http://nch.com.au/index.html
And I am most impressed. This editor is quite full featured and it will
load cd tracks as well as mp3 and wave formats. it may load other formats
as well but I can't say for sure. It has all kinds of features from pitch
adjustments to mixing sounds together to adding effects such as echo and
reverb. Press the space bar where you want to insert another sound or file
if you want to mix. There are tons and tons of other features and for a
freeware tool I give this one a 10. It's outstanding. One of the most
Unique features of this editor is it's ability to use TTS or Text To
Speech. In other words you can open the TTS part of the editor and type in
what you want it to say and mix that on top of your sound or music. It's
so
cool.

Hi Louie,
I didn't catch the beginning of this thread,
so I am not sure what version of the Nero manual you are looking for.
I have one for Nero 5.5, it's about 128 pages, and 10mb in size.

RE: Keystroke for Selecting single channel in Sound Forge

2004-07-30 Thread louie
Peter,
Below is a script that I use in conjunction with the snowman's scripts.
You will need to put the scrip in the default scripts and edit the
default jkm to add a key stroke.
Script SFfindChannel ()
var
string str

; check that we are running sound forge
; if not pass F8 through to the system
let str = GetAppTitle ()
if ( str != Sony Sound Forge 7.0 ) then
say ( F8, OT_STATUS)
{F8}
return
endIf
; check that we are in a edit window
if ( GetWindowClass (GetFocus ()) != ForgeDataClass ) then
say ( Dummy you are not in a edit window, OT_STATUS )
return
endIf
; go get text from the status line
let str = GetWindowText (GetNextWindow (GetParent (GetParent (GetFocus
(, false)
; check to see if there is data in the edit window
if ( StringContains (str, 00:00:00.000 ) ) then
say ( You fuck up there is no data in the edit window,
OT_STATUS)
return
endIf
; check the file to see that the file is stereo
if ( StringContains (str, Mono)) then
say ( You fool this is a Mono file, OT_STATUS )
return
endIf
; to tab or not to tab
; if no tab then the script will tell you what is selected right, left
or both channels
; if tab then the script will switch to next selection and tell you what
channel right, left or both
TabKey ()
SpeechOff ()
; go to the selection sub menu
{control+shift+d}
; select the set channel menue
{alt+c}
pause ()
;find out what is active right, left or both
let str = GetWindowText (GetFocus (), false)
; back to the edit window
{esc}
SpeechOn ()
; tell the user what channel is active
say ( str, OT_STATUS )
EndScript

Baby Fire Ray,
I am ripping talking tape books that I get from the Seattle talking book
and brail library.
Here is what you do using sound forage and a normal speed tape player.
1 Open a new window set the sample rate to 88200, 16 bit depth stereo.
2 Make sure that the tape player is playing in stereo.
3 Record the tape.
4 After recording do a select all .
5 Tap this will select the left channal.
6 copy the left channel to the clip board.
7 open a new windo 88200, 16 mono.
8 copy to the new window.
9 Set the sample rate to 44100 bit 16 depth.
10 Check the check box that sez set the sample rate only do not re
sample.
11 save the file.
12 Now do the same for the right channel.
12 You will need to reverse the right channel.
