Hello Peter:

Unfortunately, no. I liked it much and used for years, but the developer
announced he was too busy to continue with the project, he was involved in
other things. Cannot remember his name, but he was German.

Humberto

Hi list, does anyone know if that blind-friendly media player called MaPlEr is
still being developed? There was a podcast about in 2009, so I’m curious if
it’s still available, or if it’s been discontinued. Please let me know if the
developers are still working on that program and what website they have, if
any; thanks.

Hi. Two years ago several listers posted enthusiastic reactions to MaPlEr
(pronounced Mapler, despite all the caps) and I finally acted yesterday. I
downloaded and installed the program from the Mar-Dy website and sent
payment via PayPal. However, MaPlEr hasn't sent the promised registration
code or replied to my several queries.

I'm confident MaPlEr wasn't a scam. I'm guessing they just moved on, for
whatever reason. Has anyone here had any recent contact with the people
behind the player?

Thanks.

Hi all

Wondering if there are some users of MapLer on this list.

I am wondering exactly how the bookmark function on MapLer works. If you
are listening to an audio file with MapLer, is it possible to return to the
place where you place the bookmark. Does the programme have a “resume”
function?

I can’t seem to find anything about this in the help system.

Resend this. Because it is a good player and maybe recorder and radio

Fra: mardysoftware-boun...@as-2.de [mailto:mardysoftware-boun...@as-2.de] På

Hello together,
Here we come with a new release of our mediaplayer and play list
creator MaPlEr.
We have included many new features in this version.
We think it's worth to read the what's new-section, because there
are some exciting ones. Now MaPlEr is able to record through your
sound card, for digitalizing tapes, making direct speech recordings,
etc. and it's possible to follow the peak of the recording.
Now informations about album, artist and title can even be
stored in wave files,
And much more!

MaPlEr is now available in portuguese too. A special thanks to
Carolina herdy Mauricio almeida - Blind games Brazil
who did the translation!

We would appreciate your commends, bug reports and suggestions for
further versions!

You'll find the what's new as always at the end of the mail.

Just go to help and click search for updates to download the
newest update.

Have much fun with the new version!
With best regards from germany
your Mardy-Team
Andy and Marco

What's new in version 1.16.0:
new features
- Now MaPlEr is available in portuguese too.
  A special thanks to
Carolina herdy Mauricio almeida - Blind games Brazil
  who did this great job!
- New path for all MaPlEr files:
Microsoft would like it very much, if you, the programmer,
store all files, needed by an application, under a special folder.
With version 1.16 MaPlEr copies all those files to a path, of your
choice. If you are not sure how to handle this,
just press enter on the first startup of V1.16,
and MaPlEr will copy all the files to your personal folder.
This dialog will show up only once.
The advantage of this is, that you know where all
these files are, and if you restore your hard disc with
an image program, all your settings won't be lost!
- Added a brand new dialog recording, shift+c.
Here you can record what ever you want. You can choose
the output format, as known from the convert-tracks-screen, the
input (e.g. line-in, midi), and, of course, the path and filename
where the recording should be stored.
The checkbox monitor output lets you hear exactly what
you are recording, it's like the monitor of a good
  old tape deck.
There's an edit box where you can read the current peak, ranging
from 0 (silent) to 100 (full). If these values go over 100
  your recording will be distorted.
With the left and right arrow keys, you can adjust the
level of the input in the list of the inputs and in
the field with the peak meter.
with the spin edit update peakmeter you can tell MaPlEr
how often the peak meter should be updated.
A word about the new command in the record menu:
if you press the letter n for new while recording a
new file is created and the recording will go on in this
new file - that you can seperate the tracks of a tape,
for instance, while the recording is done.
- Added a dialog Settings | Playback settings, where you can
adjust frequency, pitch, tempo, volume, channel mode,
the equalizer bands and the sound font for all situations,
where no play list specific settings can be found.
- All information like artist, album, title, etc. are now available
in wave files too. They can be entered via the properties dialog
  (alt+enter).
- new setting under optical settings:
  hide unchanged status infos.
This will hide all infos in the status list, that are on their
  normal value.
This means: if, for example, the pitch is unchanged,
(pitch 0 %), the whole line with the pitch won't appear
  in the status list.
- New setting under the player menu
  Cursor follows player
If this entry is deactivated, MaPlEr will move on to the next
track, without moving the list. This is useful, because your screen
reader will not tell you every new track.
When you move the cursor by hand or stop playback, the cursor in the
  list will be repositioned automatically.
- added only stop playing to the sleep timer. This gives you all
the choices of the sleep timer like 5, 15, 30 minutes etc.
but after the time the computer won't shutdown, only playing
  will cease.
- Help | FAQ on the web
will bring you to the page where all our articles regarding
  MaPlEr are stored.
Changes
- added
  - File name without extension
  - extension
  - bitrate
  - track elapsed time
  - track remaining time
  - sound font
  as new columns.
- Often the screen reader has not the focus on MaPlEr when it is
starting. This should belong to the past! ;-)
- Convert tracks...
  - added %r for track of CD and
%u for unique number
as new values for the file mask.
You

Yes it does and it comes with a large collection of stations from
several countries. I tried MaPlEr briefly and in my opinion it didn't
do a lot that other audio players such as Foobar2000 and Winamp already
do. Its one main strength is that it gives you very detailed control
over the speed the file is played at which could be useful for listening
to audio books or recordings of speech. It is shareware and available
from www.mar-dy.com/MaPlEr/MaPlEr.php.

The below mesage was found on the mailing list, of the all accessible media

player MaPlEr. Although it refers to certain features of MaPlEr, I guess
most of the info might be of interest to the users on this list as well, no
matter what player you are currently using.

In case, you have not yet checked it out, give the newest version (v1.15) of

MaPlEr a try. It has features, that you won't find in any other software,
and best of all, it is build by and for blind users, so you will never have
to worry accessibility conflicts. You will find it at:
http://mar-dy.com/MaPlEr/MaPlEr.php

   Enjoy!

   - Original Message -

As you all might have noticed, MaPlEr is equipped with a number of
features, specially taylored for reading audiobooks. The 'bookmarking'
capability, just to mention one. Then we have stuff like the speed and
pitch adjustment. And, you might also have noticed a couple of choices
under the Special menu, and wondered, what they are for. I here have in
mind, the 'skip at beginning', and 'skip at the end' features. They were
specially designed, due to user request, and with reading audiobooks in
mind. Yet, Personally, I have found them particularly useful, when trying
to edit certain parts of music, of which, I'd rather be back with more
   info, in a later email.

Getting audiobooks in an electronic format, might not always be too easily
achieved. The only place on the net, that I know of, which offers a bigger
selection for sale, would be Audible. You might right away be familiar
with that site, and in such a case, you know that it is delivering its
contents in a specially COPYRIGHTED format - the Audible format (having
the .A extension to its files). Audible has quite strict copyright rules,
and even when comes to hardware players, only a VERY FEW players on the
market, do have the capablility to play Audible books. So, asking the
Mar-Dy team, to ever implement Audible playback in their software, would
be something close to 'in vain'. Although I don't want to clutter this
list with a long discussion on why, and why not, Audible does it this way,
I still want to point it out, so that users will know, why this will not
come true, until the day, Audible would change their scheme. And, after
all, how many people would ever buy any books, if they were only allowed
to read them in a particular branded chair. Or, how often would you be
eating burgers, if you only were allowed doing so, if you sit at a given
table, listening to one particular song, and eating within a predefined
time frame. Well, you see, there is not too much reasons for offering
Audible any more space, as an alternative in this mail.

My heading, though, did state, where to get audiobooks. And, even for
FREE. I will point you to a few places, that offers such material, fully
legal. The selection on all of these sites are ever growing. Due to the
copyright rules, and the fact they are offering the material for free, it
tends to be older books. But, it is a nice way, of getting your hands on
the good old classics, and keep them all legally in yor library. And, with
MaPlEr, you can even build one playlist for each book, which in practical
life means, you can read as many books you want in parallel, and simply
always refind your last read spot, in each and everyone of them. Yet
another of those useful features, that the Mar-Dy team has been kind
enough to implement, and which is quite beneficial.

The biggest - and fastest growing - place to find the free audiobooks,
   would be at Librivox.org.
Librivox, is getting their material from volunteers, all over the globe.
In other words, you will listen to a book, all read

to read them in a particular branded chair.

In other words, you will listen to a book, all read by a real human. Yet,
you will encounter all kinds of Flavored English. One small drawback,
would be that one and same book, might have its different parts - or
chapters - read by different persons. Well enough, you won't

I had high hopes for it when it was first released since it had a lot of
features and was easy to use. However it hasn't been expanded much and doesn't
work with any of the plug-ins that make Winamp so flexible so I pretty much
gave up on it. It really hasn't changed too much since it was originally
released, a few tweaks here and there but that's it.

Fwd: MardySoftware: New MaPlEr V1.14.0 available!

2010-06-09 Thread Steve Pattison
MaPlEr is an accessible media player for Windows. -Steve.

From: Mar-Dy-Team supp...@mar-dy.com

Hello together,
Here we come with the newest version of our media player and playlist
generator MaPlEr.
We have included many new features in this version.
We think it's worth to read the what's new-section, because there
are some exciting ones. For example, MaPlEr now holds over 2,600 radio
stations! A special thanks to david, who make most of them available!
It was a great job.
Another one is the possibility to use MaPlEr to start your PC at a
given time.
But, read for yourself. ;-)

We would appreciate your commends, bug reports and suggestions for
further versions!

You'll find the what's new as always at the end of the mail.

Have much fun with the new version!
With best regards from germany
your Mardy-Team

What's new:
new features
- WakeUpTimer: you can set a wake up timer. That means,
when you put your PC into standby mode, or hibernation mode,
the PC will be waked up at the given time,
and MaPlEr will start playing. So you can
use it as an alarm clock.
- added ctrl+f to search the whole playlist for
a string. You can select in which fields of the play list
 should be searched.
With F3 you can jump to the next occurance of the
 String.
 Shift+F3 searches backwards and
ctrl+F3 jumps to the first search result.
These commands are available in the
 radio screen too.
- With File | restore last play list it is possible to restore
the last file(s) you have played. This works without saving
 a play list explicitely.
- Radio screen: now MaPlEr displays all stations of all
integrated countries. If you want to select the countries,
which stations should be displayed, please goto view | Display all
stations
and uncheck this box. You can select which stations should be displayed,
 by selecting Radio | Settings.
- we have many new radio stations for several countries.
A special thanks to David, who make around 2600 stations
available. It was a excelent done job!
Now MaPlEr holds stations for the following countries:
 - Australia
 - Canada (english and french seperated).
 - Germany
 - Denmark
 - French
 - Great Britain
 - Ireland
 - New Zealand
 - Norway
 - Sweden
 - USA
The stations for Canada and USA holds codes for
teretories/districts. They are noted in square brackets behind
the name of the station. so the user knows where the station is
located - especially usefull for knowing the
right time zone. A full list of codes
can be found under the Stations menu in the
 radio screen.
- The settings for volume and the channels are automatically saved
for every favourite. That means: if you adjust the
volume for a favourite, go to another radio station,
and change the volume, because it's louder than the last one,
and you come back to your previously saved favourite,
the volume will be automatically restored.
- The last radio station you listened to will be restored when
coming back to the radio screen.
- new entry under the radio menu: Play last station automatically.
If this is checked, the last station you listened to
will begin playing automatically after coming to the radio screen.
- When you convert tracks (and CD-Ripping) you can tell
MaPlEr to create a Folder for each Artist and
Album automatically. That means, if you
Convert a CD, MaPlEr will create the
folder for the CD-Artist, therein a folder for the Album,
and so you can put the next CD into your CD-Drive
without manually creating the necessary folders.
This feature can also be used to rearrange your folder with
all MP3 files mixed up. ;-)
- The global hotkeys for previous and next track now work
for previous and next favourite too, if radio is playing
 while using this keys.
- you can use view | show location of radio station to display
where the current favourite is taken from, when many
stations of different locations has the same name.
- with alt+u you can mute/unmute the playback while recording a
 radio station.
- Added a new dialog called advanced settings. These should
only be changed if really needed. For example, here
you can adjust the time MaPlEr waits until it gives
up to connect to a radio station, or the
length of the playback buffer. If you listen
to a file through a network, it may be better to
increase the buffer length, for a result without glitches,
but the time MaPlEr will react on keys like p for changing pitch
 will increase too.
changes
- The shortcut to change frequency has been changed to
 q. If you don't have special adjustments for
your keyboard settings, just go to
settings | Default settings | Set shortcuts to default values.
 - or just make the changes by hand.
- j and ctrl+j for jump mode has been removed, because
 it's not longer supported.
- The menu mono mode has changed its name to channels.
It holds the for we hope selfexplaining entries:
mono, stereo, only left channel and only right channel.
- now you can safe as many favourites as you want.
- Now you must add

MaPlEr is an accessible media player available from
 http://www.mar-dy.com/MaPlEr/MaPlEr.php -Steve.

 From: David

You will have noticed, that MaPlEr displays information like Artist, Album

and Track title, when playing your songs. Each of these informations are
displayed in their respective columns. Unfortunately, the speech
synthesizer in the screen reader, does not always split these
informations, hence often you will have the full line of information read
as one long phrase, making it a bit hard to distinguish the one column
 from the other.

 This can easily be fixed:
Thing is that MaPlEr standard ships with the 'split character' between
columns set to a single dash, that usually will have little effect on most

voices in your screen reader. Here is how to fix it:

 1. go to Settings (Alt-S)
 2. Choose Optical Settings.
 3. Tab to 'Character between columns', and here type the period sign on
your keyboard followed by a Space (. ).
 4. Press Enter.

Your speech now will make a small pause between each information, making
it somehow more comprehendable to scroll through your playlist.

 ...

MaPlEr has the ability to remember the last four played playlists. You
easily can access them by going to the File menu, and pressing 1 through
 4.

On the other hand, if you want to switch between these even more quickly,
 here is a suggestion:
 1. Go to Settings menu (Alt-S).
 2. choose Keyboard (K).
 3. Choose Define Shortcuts (E).
 4. Scroll down to File - 1.
 5. Press a wanted hotkey, for instance, CTRL-1.
 6. Repeat the two previous steps for File -2, File- 3, and File -4.
 7. Press Tab, and press Enter on OK.

From now on, you can press the newly defined hotkeys (in the example
Ctrl-1 through Ctrl-4), and quickly switch between the last four
playlists.

When is this feature useful? Well, say you are listening to an audiobook.
It is defined by MaPlEr as a playlist, and the software will keep track of

where in the book you are, at any given time.
You now get tired of the book, and want a break, in which you want to
listen to some music. Your second playlist now will be holding your music.

After half an hour of music listening you want to go back to your
audiobook, and simply switching back to your playlist that holds the book,

will put you where you left your reading. With the above defining of
hotkeys for this switch, it is done in a swift to 'pop' between your
 playlists.

Start playing around, and you will soon find your MaPlEr gets even a
 greater tool.

Fwd: MardySoftware New MaPlEr V1.12.0 released!

2010-01-18 Thread Steve Pattison
The MaPLEr audio player can be downloaded from
www.mar-dy.com/MaPlEr/MaPlEr.php

Regards Steve.

From: Marco Steinebach - Mardy supp...@mar-dy.com

Hello to all,

Here we come with the new V1.12 of MaPlEr.
We have included many new things, especially global hotkeys and new
bookmark system and MaPlEr is now Win7-ready.

The What's new is at the end of this mail. So if you want to update
MaPlEr, just go to help and select search for update.

Best regards from germany and we are looking for your feedback,
questions and suggestions!
Andy and Marco
(Mar-Dy-Team)

What's new in V1.12.0:
new features
- MaPlEr is now Vista and Win7-Ready!
- Under settings | Keyboard | Global Hotkeys you can
define global hotkeys for the following functions:
(every function is followed by their default global hotkey)
 play/pause - pause
bring MaPlEr to the front and go back to the program where
   you was before - Shift+pause
 previous track - ctrl+alt+f9
 next track - ctrl+alt+f10
 5 seconds backwards - ctrl+alt+f11
 5 seconds forward - ctrl+alt+f12
 decrease volume - ctrl+alt+f7
 increase volume - ctrl+alt+f8
Global hotkey means, that you can press them from
everywhere in windows, and MaPlEr will react on it.
The list has a context menu to use the windows key as a key
modifier and for some special keys, like up and down arrow.
note: scroll lock and print screen cannot be used as global hotkeys.
- now you can use bookmarks even without specifying a play list.
That means: Just listen to one file, press b to set
a bookmark, and when you come back to this file,
you can use ctrl+shift+left and -right arrow to jump back
to the position where you was before.
- added extras | ftp. This brings up a dialog where you can
enter a ftp server, and can play files just without
 downloading them first.
- Added a new dialog for recording to the radio screen.
Now you can record all stations, no matter which format they
have, you can specify a file name, and/or a start- and
 end time for the recording.
- Now MaPlEr supports mp2-, mp1- and aiff-files too.
- the list of missing files when loading a play list,
can now be copied to the clipboard or saved to a file.
- Edit | Clear play list (shift+Delete) will delete all
tracks from the play list, without changing the name of the playlist.
- title | mark all tracks as nice - will do what you think it does. ;-)
You can then unmark several tracks instead of marking
 many tracks as nice.
- New setting calculate exact lengths added. If this is
enabled, MaPlEr will first scan fast through all files
to find a good estimated length for every track.
Because of many possibilities to convert tracks with many VBR
methods its necessary to scan the whole file, to get an exact lenght.
This is done in the background, if this setting is
enabled - and the progress is shown in the status bar.
Normally there's no need for turning this setting of, except
you're running MaPlEr on a very old machine.
- special | skip time at beginning and - skip time add end lets you
define an amount of time, which is skipped at the
beginning and/or end of each track of a play list.
This is usefull, when every track has a starting
and/or ending phrase, which you don't want to hear,
e.g. with the tracks from AudioBooksForFree.com.
- We have a new file with norwegian radio stations.
changes
- the context menu in the radio screen was replaced by a normal
 menu.
- all settings, which are stored for every play list,
have been moved to a new menu called special.
This means: volume, speed, pitch, frequency and mono/stereo
controls are now part of the new special menu. If you save
a play list, these settings are stored automatically
and are restored when loading the play list the next time.
- the information about
 - bitrate (including VBR or not)
 - mono or stereo
 - skip times
are displayed in the status field.
- MaPlEr should start faster now!
fixed bugs
- the shortcut to change the volume in the radio screen
 is now v too!
- if you change the order of the columns, the fields for width
 are now filled correctly.
- the playing in mono sometimes causes an error message, and, with some
files,
it produces some glitches - fixed.

pause bring MaPlEr to the front and go back to the program where
   you was before - Shift+pause
 previous track - ctrl+alt+f9
 next track - ctrl+alt+f10
 5 seconds backwards - ctrl+alt+f11
 5 seconds forward - ctrl+alt+f12
 decrease volume - ctrl+alt+f7
 increase volume - ctrl+alt+f8
Global hotkey means, that you can press them from everywhere in windows,
and MaPlEr will react on it.
The list has a context menu to use the windows key as a key modifier and
for some special keys, like up and down arrow.
note: scroll lock and print screen cannot be used as global hotkeys.
- now you can use bookmarks even without specifying a play list.
That means: Just listen to one file, press b to set a bookmark, and when
you come back to this file, you can use ctrl+shift+left and -right arrow to
jump back to the position where you was before.
- added extras | ftp. This brings up a dialog where you can enter a ftp
server, and can play files just without downloading them first.
- Added a new dialog for recording to the radio screen.
Now you can record all stations, no matter which format they have, you can
specify a file name, and/or a start- and end time for the recording.
- Now MaPlEr supports mp2-, mp1- and aiff-files too.
- the list of missing files when loading a play list, can now be copied to
the clipboard or saved to a file.
- Edit | Clear play list (shift+Delete) will delete all tracks from the
play list, without changing the name of the playlist.
- title | mark all tracks as nice - will do what you think it does. ;-) You
can then unmark several tracks instead of marking many tracks as nice.
- New setting calculate exact lengths added. If this is enabled, MaPlEr
will first scan fast through all files to find a good estimated length for
every track.
Because of many possibilities to convert tracks with many VBR methods its
necessary to scan the whole file, to get an exact lenght.
This is done in the background, if this setting is enabled - and the
progress is shown in the status bar.
Normally there's no need for turning this setting of, except you're
running MaPlEr on a very old machine.
- special | skip time at beginning and - skip time add end lets you define
an amount of time, which is skipped at the beginning and/or end of each
track of a play list.
This is usefull, when every track has a starting and/or ending phrase,
which you don't want to hear, e.g. with the tracks from
AudioBooksForFree.com.
- We have a new file with norwegian radio stations.
changes
- the context menu in the radio screen was replaced by a normal menu.
- all settings, which are stored for every play list, have been moved to a
new menu called special.
This means: volume, speed, pitch, frequency and mono/stereo controls are
now part of the new special menu. If you save a play list, these settings
are stored automatically and are restored when loading the play list the
next time.
- the information about
 - bitrate (including VBR or not)
 - mono or stereo
 - skip times
are displayed in the status field.
- MaPlEr should start faster now!
fixed bugs
- the shortcut to change the volume in the radio screen is now v too!
- if you change the order of the columns, the fields for width are now
filled correctly.
- the playing in mono sometimes causes an error message, and, with some
files, it produces some glitches - fixed.

Fwd: MaPlEr V1.08 released!

2009-02-01 Thread Steve Pattison
MaPlEr is an accessible media player that is designed to work with
screen readers. -Steve.

From: Scott Erichsen piano...@scotterichsen.com
To: vi...@softspeak.com.au

Hello to all,

After a while of working, we now have released Version 1.08 of MaPlEr.
We have added a lot of new features and we hope you'll enjoy them.
For this update please do not use the update feature of MaPlEr. Please
download the setup file from our homepage, and install it. This is
necessary because of integrating the CD-Ripping-Feature.

The direct download link is
http://www.odissa.de/php/CHCounter/getfile.php?id=10

a word about the conversion function:
to convert to MP3 files you have to download the program
lame.exe.
You can get it e.g. on this site
http://audio.ciara.us/rarewares/lame3.98.2.zip
Please unzip the file and copy
lame.exe
to the program folder, where you have installed MaPlEr.
Because of license laws we are not allowed to bundle lame.exe with our
program.
But if you download it your own, it's not illegal.

I'll attach the what's new list at the end of the mail.

Best regards from here and we are waiting for your feedback and hope
you'll have much fun with the new version!
Marco (Mar-dy-Team).

V1.08.0:
- Integrated the English help file.
- We have rapidly decreased the time to recognize the tracks
  of an audio CD.
- Assign shortcuts to all labels of the different
  dialog boxes.
- Extras | convert: with this feature you can convert
several audio formats to another. With this dialog
you can convert audio CD's to MP3 too.
Please refer to our homepage for more information.
- If you insert an audio CD in your CD-ROM-Drive, you can select
MaPlEr to play this CD right from this popup menu.
- If you have multiple sound cards you can switch between
the soundcards. This can be done while MaPlEr is playing too.
- view | column settings: with this entry you can tell MaPlEr
which columns should be shown and the width of each column.
The order of the columns can be set here too.
- view | Display columns as one long row: this
displays all the columns as one long row, without
many spaces between. This setting is useful especially
for use with a braille display.
- view | refresh: this refreshes the entries of the currently
  loaded play list.
- Player | player follows cursor: if you deactivate this entry
you can navigate through the play list, without
stopping the playback of the current track. If you
want to listen to the track, which has
the focus, you must explicitly play it by pressing
  the letter x.

Ämne: My thoughts on the Mapler media player

Hi

There has been some discussion on the list about the new Mapler media player
and playlist generator. I thought I would give my overview of how I found
using the player from a user's perspective.

Many media players are either fairly complex to use from a screen-reading
standpoint or they require special plugins to achieve tasks which we as
visually impaired people may like to do. Mapler is designed to make the
playback of audio files and the creation of playlists easy while
incorporating some unique features.

As has been discussed, Mapler is an audio player and playlist generator
produced by a small company in Germany. At least one of the developers is
visually impaired, a fact derived from the podcast downloadable from the
company web site which explains clearly how to use the program. All
functions can be accessed using the keyboard or through the menu system.

Because Mapler uses standard windows controls, no special scripts or
screen-reader configuration files are required. It functions well with
jaws, window-eyes or system access and I imagine all other screen-readers.

Mapler costs 7 Euro if PayPal is used (about 10 dollars), or 11 Euro if an
external company processes the credit card payment.

Learning how to use Mapler is best achieved in my view using the podcast or
by exploring the menus. The help topics are not accessible via the Help
menu for some reason, but you can access them via the shortcut off the
Programs menu, available from the Start menu. However, not all the files
have been translated into English as some still remain in German.

Having said that, Mapler is an incredibly easy player to use. For those
people who do not want to learn how to use a complex media player,Mapler
probably is for you.

Advantages of using the Player:
1. It is easy to start, stop and pause the playing of a file, or move
forward and backward it in predefined steps, such as five seconds, 30
seconds, or a minute at a time.
2. Files or folders can be added to create a playlist to hear the tracks
immediately or the playlist can be saved with an .m3u extension. 3. One of
the things I liked about Mapler was the ability to change the order of
tracks in the playlist. Tracks can be rearranged by pressing Control+Up
Arrow or Control+Down Arrow to move the selected track up or down in the
playing order. Keystrokes also exist to move an item to the beginning or
end of a playlist. 4. The volume of playback can be adjusted independently
of the screen-reader. 5. The variable speed without pitch adjustment is
particularly impressive. Many hardware and computer-based players often
disturb the overall quality of the playback when audio is reproduced at high
speed and I found accessing audio at a rapid rate using Mapler to be very
easy on the ear. 6. There are a number of functions you can select when
audio is being played, such as to repeat tracks, shuffle, continuously play,
fade out or cross-fade. Parameters in the Settings menu allow you to
control the cross-fade process. 7. A special sleep timer allows you to have
the computer shut down or go into hybernation when the track or playlist has
finished playing, or after a designated time period has elapsed. 8. One
really cool feature is that you can pause and play the audio from within any
application by pressing the Pause key on the computer keyboard, located on
the top right of the qwerty keyboard.
If for example you are located within Microsoft Word, and the Pause key is
pressed once, the audio from Mapler is either paused or playback is resumed.
If pressed twice quickly, focus is set to the Mapler window for any
manipulation you may wish to do. When the Pause key is pressed twice
quickly again, focus is reset back to the application you were previously
using, very nice. 9. The supported file formats are audio CD, wav, MP3, MP4,
OGG, WMA unprotected, AAC and FLAC.

As a summary of the advantages of using Mapler, given this is version 1 I
think this is going to be a fantastic program. It already has some great
features. While some people may be a little scathing of specialist or
accessible programs, undoubtedly there is a significant computer user base
who can benefit from them. The only way in which the program will improve
would be if people constructively submit feedback to the developers. Before
I do that, let me write a few words about the demonstration copy of the
program because the concept is quite interesting.

All the functions of Mapler are available in the demo, and in fact if you
just wanted to use it for creating playlists

and transfer the playlist to your mobile phone or portable player. However the
demo restrictions apply when you begin to play audio content. When you have

Hello Brian,
There are two things that I would like to add.
For starters, I haven't seen a media player that lets you record from the
line and mike in jacks on your sound card.

Audio editing would really be a nice touch too as well.
And I would also like to have the ability of ripping and burning CD's too.

Actually I believe you can record from the line input with Winamp if you use
the linerec input plug-in. It's a bit cumbersome because you'd have to have
the output go to one of the disk writer plug-ins but I think it can be done.

It's a lot easier with Goldwave though!

podcast or by exploring the menus. The help topics are not accessible
via the Help menu for some reason, but you can access them via the
shortcut off the Programs menu, available from the Start menu.
However, not all the files have been translated into English as some
still remain in German.

Having said that, Mapler is an incredibly easy player to use. For
those people who do not want to learn how to use a complex media
player,Mapler probably is for you.

Advantages of using the Player:
1. It is easy to start, stop and pause the playing of a file, or move
forward and backward it in predefined steps, such as five seconds, 30
seconds, or a minute at a time.
2. Files or folders can be added to create a playlist to hear the
tracks immediately or the playlist can be saved with an .m3u extension.
3. One of the things I liked about Mapler was the ability to change the
order of tracks in the playlist. Tracks can be rearranged by pressing
Control+Up Arrow or Control+Down Arrow to move the selected track up or
down in the playing order. Keystrokes also exist to move an item to
the beginning or end of a playlist.
4. The volume of playback can be adjusted independently of the
screen-reader.
5. The variable speed without pitch adjustment is particularly
impressive. Many hardware and computer-based players often disturb the
overall quality of the playback when audio is reproduced at high speed
and I found accessing audio at a rapid rate using Mapler to be very
easy on the ear.
6. There are a number of functions you can select when audio is being
played, such as to repeat tracks, shuffle, continuously play, fade out
or cross-fade. Parameters in the Settings menu allow you to control
the cross-fade process.
7. A special sleep timer allows you to have the computer shut down or
go into hybernation when the track or playlist has finished playing, or
after a designated time period has elapsed.
8. One really cool feature is that you can pause and play the audio
from
