Everything I've read about Studio Recorder seems to emphasize voice
recordings. However, my work involves editing and restoring music files.
Does studio recorder offer editing and restoration features that lend

The bracket on the swedish keyborad are very complicated to bring up.
ALl such signs are very hard to write.

Does studio recorder offer editing and restoration features that lend

Re: Most accessible sound editor?

2007-02-19 Thread Bruce Toews
Okay, but we're straying away from the point. The original question was
accessibility, not preference. The fact is that if you get good at it, you
can do every bit as fine an editing job with Gold Wave as with Sound
Forge. Sound Forge has some features that Gold Wave doesn't, to be sure,
it's a great editor. For the most part, as was said by one person, they
are equal in terms of accessibility.

only thing I don't like about gold wave is having to mark everything for
editing, and also taking out certain words is kind of tuff with the marking
feature in gold wave.

Re: Most accessible sound editor?

2007-02-18 Thread David Tanner
Personal opinion: I would say that they are both pretty accessible, but there
is a difference of magnitude in what the two will do. One is great for
personal use, but would never make it as a sound editor for a professional
autio editor. It's a little difficult to access features that don't exist!!!
For example, there is a huge difference between an equalizer with 6 bands and
one with 20 bands. On the other hand, if you can do what you need to do with
Goldwave then I see no sense in paying for JFW scripts, and a sound editor that
will cost 6 times more than Goldwave.

Re[2]: Most accessible sound editor?

2007-02-18 Thread Christian
Hi all,
Many thanks for your comments. I personally prefer SoundForge since I find it
faster to edit big files. I have tried out the demo of Goldwave but I couldn't
do things as fast as in SoundForge.
I have also tried out Audacity but didn't figure out how to use it.
All the best,
Christian

Re: Most accessible sound editor?

2007-02-18 Thread Bruce Toews
But those aren't really accessibility issues, those are more just personal
preferences ... which are completely valid and I'm not knocking
preferences. For me, if I want to make a big jump in a file, I find it far
mroe efficient to just reposition the start marker.

Re: Most accessible sound editor?

2007-02-18 Thread Chuck Adkins
Bruce, don't know but I think it's the keyboard commands are like those of a
word processor. You can go through the sound file by using the page up and
down keys, by small amounts with the left and right arrow, scrub easily,
things like that. The page up and down is a big thing for me since I use it
a lot doing editing of very big files. I can hit space bar play, and page up
or down and hear the audio advance very quickly. The only way I know to do
that in Goldwave is to hit the fast forward function key which for a big
file isn't really fast enough for me. I do not use SF for recording, just
editing.

I use SF6 haven't upgraded.

Re: Most accessible sound editor?

2007-02-17 Thread Gary Petraccaro
It's even with GoldWave except for accessible volume levels and, if memory
serves, eq settings. I don't think GW gives access to these.

Sound Forge is probably the most accessible sound editor, but it's not
multi-track, nore is it close to being the cheapest.
