RE: need help with skipe on my lap top.
Look at the settings in Tools/Options/Audio to make sure the correct mike is selected in Skype. Re: Need help with Skipe
hi Terri, you have to set up your profile first. the information you need to put in is as follows: full name, your real name, them your birthday, use the jaws cursor to press the button which then will bring up a combo box and you have to select dates by moving left or right and up and down. then the language if you press the letter e, you will get to English. state province, just type it in to the edit field. office phone, same as above. mobile phone. email. sex this a drop down box. then the country you live in. then the city. home phone. home page. about, this where you can type in a short description of yourself. then you have a my picture button, where you can search your hd if you have a picture of yourself. when done, press the update button. my suggestion is to create a profile and change it as you see fit. note I'm not using jaws but hal and skype is a cracking program. hth - Original Message - From: TerriStimmel To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, October 02, 2004 11:18 PM Subject: Need help with Skipe Hello everyone, Can someone give me some tips on how to use Skipe? I downloaded it last night, and I've been trying to figure it out, but there are things that are confusing to me. First of all, I'm not exactly sure which version I should be using. I found some information on the JFWLite site, and I downloaded the scripts that were there. However, the program wasn't there, or the link didn't work to be exact. Anyway, that version was a beta version. So anyway, I got the version I have installed from the Skipe website. I've been trying to find people to add, but I think what I'm seeing in the dialog boxes aren't correct. I'm being told they are one thing, when they are actually something else. For instance, it might say email, but that's not the box where you would type the email address. I am using Jaws 5. If anyone can help me figure this out then I'd appreciate it. Re: Need help with Skipe
Hello Simon and others, I've already filled out a profile. That was the first thing I did, after installing the program. I didn't have any problems with it, which I find rather interesting now, knowing how the search field works. Anyway, I did find it interesting that you say there's a combo box where your birthday is suppose to go, because that wasn't what I saw. I just have an edit box. I just filled in the info that I wanted them to have. I even left the about area blank, because I couldn't think of a short enough description to leave in there. They don't seem to leave you much room. Besides, I figure that if any of my friends are looking for me, then they can find me with just a little bit of information. I don't want just anyone to be able to look at my profile, and know all sorts of things. That's why I left most of the fields blank. To me, there's no need for this company, or whatever you might call them, to have all of my phone numbers, and all that stuff. That's just nuts, and there's no reason for it. If I want to give it out to someone, then I will. Ok, enough on this. Sorry, but that sort of stuff really gets to me. So now that we know that the profile isn't the issue, is there anything else I can do? Also, once I open the program, how do I log in? I cant seem to figure that out, so I've been going under the log in as new user. Sense it recognizes my account, it doesn't think I'm actually trying to create a new account. I know there's got to be an easier way to do this though. Re: Need help with Skipe
yeah as far as the form that you fill out? forget it, jaws reads it wrong. even the search one, but I just tried it and it worked fine. I just used the sex combo box, and the english speaking combo box. you should be able to find those pretty easily. Re: Need help with Skipe
Hi George and others, Yep, those combo boxes are the easiest thing to find, in the advanced search form. If you are just doing a search, then that is useable. But of course, it's only because it's one field. I wonder, are all versions of Skipe performing like this? Is there one version better to have than the other? And what about Skipe Out? Is that useable at all? If so, then how well?
