Re: VLC media player shortcut keys
Good summary. I should also add that one of those open commands is possibly one of the most powerful commands in VLC as it allows the user to open pretty much anything, an audio CD, files on a computer, on a network drive or even an Internet Radio stream. > On 25 Dec 2015, at 1:12 PM, Robert Nelsonwrote: > > > VLC Media Player Shortcuts > > > 1. Re: VLC media player shortcut keys
A couple of other things Windows muses might like to bare in mind with VLC which make life one hell of a lot easier when you’re dealing with a whole heap of files. Have a folder of a few hundred files you want to add to a playlist? go into File Explorer, select the files you want and then select “Add To VLC Playlist” from the context menu. VLC will start playing the selected files after a few moments. From here you can obviously “Save As Playlist” if you like so the playlist will be available for you next time you wish to hear it. > On 25 Dec 2015, at 10:24 PM, Brian Olesenwrote: > > Hi > Yeah n next element in playlist aand p previous element. > All other shortcut keys are fine. > > Brian > Brian > > -Oprindelig meddelelse- > Fra: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] På vegne af Robert Nelson > Sendt: 25. december 2015 03:12 > Til: 'PC Audio Discussion List' > Emne: VLC media player shortcut keys > > > VLC Media Player Shortcuts > > > 1. Re: VLC Media Player?
It will play just about everything, but it's mostly for video formats. I wouldn't recommend it for your audio files as it's just not really designed with the flexibility to make playlists and such that, Winamp, and probably foobar as well, has in abundance. As for whether it works with screenreaderswell, yes. Documentation is a little sparse, though. There is a list of keyboard commands somewhere and the programme is entirely usable via keyboard. Don't expect a great deal of voice feedback, though. However, if you want to play videos, VLC is pretty much the best solution out there...no need to hunt around for codecs..it's played everything I've thrown at it from weirdly encoded MKVs to DVDs. - Original Message - From: Carliss seeje...@satx.rr.com To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, June 22, 2013 12:33 AM Subject: VLC Media Player? Re: VLC Media Player?
I agree with you absolutely on this. I suppose I use VLC a lot due to the fact that I use computers on multiple platforms, I have Mac machines and I use OSX, I use machines that run LYNUX and of course I use Windows, VLC is an open source multi platform player. Again this is personal experience but I've found Winamp to be very bloated and I've had it crash quite frequently on my Windows machines here so those reasons alone steered me away from the software. I know others who are more than happy to use Windows Media Player and who can blame them as the software - from the little I've played with it - seems very user friendly indeed but the unfortunate part is that Windows Media Player doesn't seem to support all the audio formats that VLC does. Anyway as has been stated, you have heaps of options at your fingertips so use what's best for you. Re: vlc media player for windows with screen reader?
The programme works ok with jaws 11 here. You may need to unhide the interface before you can see anything though. I still prefer Winamp for audio but VLC is really the only go-to for video file formats as it plays everything and anything. - Original Message - From: Sunshine sunsh...@abe.midco.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2012 10:57 PM Subject: Re: vlc media player for windows with screen reader? jaws does not support the qt frame work. - Original Message - From: Hank Smith hanksm...@hanksmith.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2012 9:27 PM Subject: Re: vlc media player for windows with screen reader? there is no way to make it work with jaws? Re: vlc media player for windows with screen reader?
The problem I have with VLC is not with being (or not being) able to see the interface; the problem I have is that VLC just won't play videos correctly! It is really herky-jerky the audio has quite a bit of skipping (or something) don't know how to describe it accurately; all I know is that it makes my DVDs sound as if there is a problem with the DVD! I've tried same DVD with Media Classics; no problem with playing! Re: VLC media player
I installed VLC, to give it a test drive. Can anyone tell me how to select an output device other than the Windows default device? In the preferences, under audio, I find a device selection spinbox. But the choices in the spinbox are just numerals, not names of the soundcard I want to select from. If I'm going to give this thing a fair test, I'll have to play it through my good card and speakers, not the el cheapos that I use for JAWS, and that are my system default. I would also like to know how to work this player. I can't get it to do anything and don't know the key commands to tell it to play my files. Re: VLC Media Player command line options.
Jim, you wrote: Has anyone had any success in using the various command line options with VLC with a view to enhancing accessibility? I use mplayer, which is another multiplatform project. I like its command line interface. With it, I can start streaming radio stations with batch files. I've installed the Windows standard codecs and can play RealAudio, Windows media, MP3 and a couple of other formats. I often use the player with my DOS Braille display driver under Windows ME, because JAWS isn't so good when it comes to console mode programs. Here's an example batch file, which plays the BBC Radio 4 stream: mplayer rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio4/live/r4_dsat_g2.ra *** Michael Lang *** ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
