Hi Gary,
I definately agree with you.
The basics of the program is probably still the same, but the software
vendors always think they need to make the new version look quite diferent
and smart. It's not only in the blind comunity this is a problem. Also
sighted people get enormously frustrated by this behaviour.

That's what I like about CDRWIN. I've been using it for five years now,
and the basic interface has stayed more or less the same. Other things
have been added, like the ability to write to dVD's, but the interface is
very much like it always was.

Hi all,
It's really just a question of what you started with. grin We all have
our conservative habbits. :-)
Years ago I did love adaptech easy cd creater no actually even more years
ago it was called correl cd creater grin, but that's a long story.

But when they released roxio cd creater 5 I had to learn it all over
again. My sighted friends used to talk so much about this new Nero, so I
decided to give it a try. And oh yes 5.5 did a nice job. I found that the
wizzard got me up and running in no time, so I decided to go the Nero
route.

Then version 6 was released and we all had to start over again getting to
know a quite new application.
At that time there was no serious alternative as I'd dropped CD creater,
so I choose to stay with the old 5.5 version for a period of time.
But nowadays I'm more into dvd creating and therefore I had to find a
more modern program to suit my needs, so Nero got into play again.
I'm looking at Nero 6.5 now and when I first got to know the new wizard
there's only afew keypresses before you can start burning a disk. But I
think we would all agree that it's a bit of a nightmare every single time
they decide to totally redesign the userinterface.

Best regards

"best" is incredibly subjective. I had trouble with NEro myself, just gave

small too. www.goldenhawk.com. I won't say it's the best, because I'm not

Hi again!
To burn CDs I am using realplayer. But for that I need a subscription
and
well that's kind of expensive and i'd like to get rid of it.
so, do you know any other software to burn a CD? like, take a mp3 or ogg
files to put them on CDs?
I've never been able to work roxio out properly so if anyone knows of
something else that would not be that costly then I'm interested :)))

thanks alot for your kind answers

I burn cd's, both cdr & cdrw, audio & data, plus DVDrw without difficulty

I'm very slow with things.

Re: Best software to burn a cd

2004-10-25 Thread Brian Olesen
Hi all,
It's really just a question of what you started with. grin We all have our
conservative habbits. :-)
Years ago I did love adaptech easy cd creater no actually even more years
ago it was called correl cd creater grin, but that's a long story.

But when they released roxio cd creater 5 I had to learn it all over again.
My sighted friends used to talk so much about this new Nero, so I decided to
give it a try. And oh yes 5.5 did a nice job. I found that the wizzard got
me up and running in no time, so I decided to go the Nero route.

Then version 6 was released and we all had to start over again getting to
know a quite new application.
At that time there was no serious alternative as I'd dropped CD creater, so
I choose to stay with the old 5.5 version for a period of time.
But nowadays I'm more into dvd creating and therefore I had to find a more
modern program to suit my needs, so Nero got into play again.
I'm looking at Nero 6.5 now and when I first got to know the new wizard
there's only afew keypresses before you can start burning a disk. But I
think we would all agree that it's a bit of a nightmare every single time
they decide to totally redesign the userinterface.

Best regards
Brian

Re: Best software to burn a cd

2004-10-25 Thread Harry Bassler
Bruce, I'm surprised to know you gave up on Nero!
I use Nero6 all the time with great success without scripts & with Jaws 5.10
& XP.
I burn cd's, both cdr & cdrw, audio & data, plus DVDrw without difficulty &
I'm very slow with things.

"best" is incredibly subjective. I had trouble with NEro myself, just gave
up on it. I have found CDRWIN to be incredibly accessible, inexpensive and
small too. www.goldenhawk.com. I won't say it's the best, because I'm not

do you have windows XP? Cd burning software is included as part of the
operating system as well as compiling an MP3 collection into an audio CD. I
do it all the time with my XP home.

Also, I don't have a Real Player subscription and have converted Mp3
compilations and real Audio compilations to audio Cd's and have burned them
successfully. I like doing it through Windows better though.

Hi,
Why don't you buy a quite new burner? Just check it's a retail burner and
check if Nero is included. You can get a cool dvd burner for less then 100
US $.

This is a very basic burning program that doesn't have a lot of extras.
I'm
told it was developed as a response to the author's disgust after
obtaining
the latest version of one of the leading CD/DVD burning programs, only to

Re: Best software to burn a cd

2004-10-24 Thread Brian Olesen
Hi,
Why don't you buy a quite new burner? Just check it's a retail burner and
check if Nero is included. You can get a cool dvd burner for less then 100
US $.

Best regards

Hi,
There are many great solutions out there we can use.
Nero burning rom from version 5.5 and on is one of the very best, but I also
like cd da extractor. Even the build in funktion i xp can be used to at
least some extend. Some weeks ago on this list there was menchened a special
program for the blind whitch is very accessible and relativly inexpensive,
but I forgot the name of this program.

Best regards
Brian

Try going back to the site and get the revised version of the demo. The
earlier one gave Window-eyes fits with all of the screen refreshing, but the
latest version is better, if not perfect.

I like the premier programming's cd creator, however, I noticed a wee bit of
a bug, and am not sure if it's a problem with it grabbing too much memory
rouces or what, but, I notice when it tells one how far along it is every 10
percent, the speech takes a while to stutter out the percentage, for about
10 seconds or there-abouts.

Hi. You could get Nero for around $60. Also you can get something called
CD Creator from Premier Assistive Technologies. Hope this helps.
