Hi list, I hope this is not off topic, I want to no if there is a
program wich can help me find the direct URL of a spisific station. I
didn't ever use such programs and the only way I ever used web radio
links on the pc was with total recorder and ITunes. Any help will be
appreciated.

Re: internet radio URL

2014-03-17 Thread Aidan
Well, I have the problem with a few stations. I want to put them in my
victor stream, but I cannot find the direct URL. Stations like house
frequency, tygerberg fm bosveld stereo just to name a few. Its fine to
be able to listen with a program such as ITunes, but how to find that
URL is the question. I no that once you have stations imported in
ITunes then its quite easy to get the direct URL, but if you don't
have it at all then I don't no. I see all the stations in tune in
radio on the IPhone, but the app don't show the URL either, so I
thought that on the pc side there might be an app that can somehow
locate this.

If you have the latest Victor Stream you can search for the station using
the search feature in the victor.

I just did but it found the station but did not start it.
I search for south Africa and got 51 stations.

Hi, have a look at Mike's Radio World. Don't know the link right know, but
you'll find it easily with google. You have to download the m3u or other
playlist files which include the url, if you open them with an editor. With
the Plextalk Pocket I just copy the play list files into a certain folder.
Maybe that's the same with your DAISY players.

Good luck,

Hi everyone, Mushroom FM is a fairly new Internet radio station that I
run.

Already though, we're getting a great response, with over 3000 unique
listeners having tuned in from 127 countries in the last month.

We've had lots of inquiries about how to listen to Mushroom FM, which uses
Shout cast technology, with various mobile devices, so we've put together
a

guide on how it's done. I hope you'll listen to Mushroom FM while you're
over there, but even if you don't, this could help with the stations you
listen to.

Does Ootunes get a mention in your guide? The fact for example that its like
having a completely accessible Internet radio in your pocket, just type the
name of the station you want to listen to - in this instance Mushroom FM - and
away you go, you're listening, you can then save the station in your favourites
for later listening etc.

Excellent.

Now please don't think I'm paranoid for one moment about Iphones or Ipod Touch
machines, I just wish there were machines or more pieces of software like
Ootunes about for multiple platforms, Ootunes is my idea of what a piece of
Internet radio software or an Internet radio itself should be, nicely
accessible for one thing as I've already described, a nice interface to use etc.

For those who are interested in Ootunes I believe several Podcasts have been
done on the app so other list members may wish to fill us in at this point
because I'm not exactly sure where to find them but I'm certain that others
have done Ootunes Podcasts somewhere.

Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used one of these stand-alone
Internet radio receivers? I'm thinking of one for a friend I know, he
wants to listen to Interstate and world radio but I'm wondering whether
one of these may be a better way to go rather than a full-blone computer.

Okay, so I'm assuming that - even at the best of times - one of these
radio sets would be an absolute pain in the behind to set up so just
suppose I got someone with sight to set the radio up to my friend's
favourite radio stations, would there perhaps be a way he could scroll
between them, say using an up and down arrow, preset buttons or such like,
anyone got any thoughts on this?

I know what you're thinking, how would you know what the station was? Well
most of what my friend would want to hear have call signs associated with
them which are announced frequently, don't like one then move to the next.

I am interested in broadcasting too, I checked for Live365 but that

dollars and 95 per month! that is, about 120 dollars for year
and I am not sure when I can broadcast and if I can broadcast every day
Is there, in the world, something cheaper, which can allow me to
stream in real time, or when my computer is off, to broadcast
something pre-recorded, for 24 hours or for a certain amount of time?
A co-worker suggested me to use YouTube service, by creating a video
with no image, just audio, and upload it
but this is quite a unhappy idea

Hi, Peter. Well, I'm getting acquainted with

www.live365.com

Which seems pretty blind-friendly, especially if you upload your programs
using Studio 365-Loader. You do have to pay a subscription to broadcast
(but not to listen, unless you want to support the broadcasters by
spending
a little cash to be a premium listener.) I rather like it, so far.

Peace,
Kathy

I also got the popups. there were a whole bunch of them too.

Hi all,
I installed real player v10.5
during the instillation I noticed something about autofill. However, I did
not hear the full message.
I later uninstalled this as I wasn't happy with it.
when I now try and connect to radio stations on the web, I get a message
saying autofill media blocked option and when I press enter on this, the
station begins to play.
note, I did not get this autofil option message when trying to play radio
stations before installing real player 10.5.
after I uninstalled this, I ran add aware and it removed one piece of
spyware from my pc.
I went into security in internet tools/options but could not shed any
light
on it.

has anyone any ideas about this autofil media blocking option?
Brian.

Re: INTERNET RADIO

2004-09-26 Thread Christopher Maule-Oatway
Hello,
To answer your last question: no, you can't play real audio streams in
Winamp using the Tara plug-in.

As for the rest of your questions, I can be of little help, since I have
never had these problems. I am on NTL broadband, 750 KBPS. I am running
windows98 SE, and the processor speed is half yours. My screen reader is
Hal, and I use an external speech synthesiser. I have Winamp, Windows
Media Player 9 and Real Alternative on my PC, and all play internet streams
without a problem.

Some suggestions: make sure that the connection speed and buffering rate of
the players is suitable for broadband - no doubt you have done this
already, but it is always worth checking. Try turning off your screen
reader's voice before clicking on the 'Listen' link - perhaps the speech is
conflicting with the streaming audio. Do you get to a station from a web
site, or have you bookmarked the station in your favourites list? If the
latter, is the result still the same?

Hope this helps, though it is rather clutching at straws.
Cheers,
Christopher

Hi Everyone
Apologies if people have seen this message on another list. I sent it
to the Access-UK list, with little luck.
I have recently got broadband and am anxious to listen to all kinds of
radio stations without the constant interruptions that used to occur
when I had a phone line.
I am using Windows 98 second edition on a PC with a 2 GHz processor and
256 Mb RAM. I have Realplayer, Winamp and Windows media Player
installed. I use Window-Eyes 4 and JAWS 5.10.
I appear to be able to listen to BBC stations with few problems,
although recently i tried to listen to the cricket on the net and,
although it tells me I am listening to it, I can hear no sound.
If I try to listen to most other stations either it plays for a few
seconds and locks up or Realplayer or Windows media Player fails and I
see the message Mainapplication Window.
One strange thing: I use Window-eyes or JAWS 5.10. If I use
Window-Eyes the station is more likely to run for a few seconds and
lock up the PC, if I use JAWS I get the MainApplicationWindow message.
Can anyone throw any light on this?
Also, is it possible to use Winamp to play RealPlayer and windows media
streams?
Apologies for such a convoluted message, but any help would be
appreciated.
