Try:
http://www.poikosoft.com/

Easy audio converter is the current name for the old Easy CDDA extractor.
However, it does much more than the old program.

Be warned, though, it is quite accessible but it does have its
idiosyncrasies that can be overcome with some experimentation.

2015-08-13 Thread Merv Keck
Hi,
I have always used CDEX however 1.79 went nuts on me with the install of
windows 10. I understand that many programs need to be installed again after
installing windows 10. However, I cannot find my copy of CDEX 1.79 on any of
my machines or my three external HD backup drives. So the question of the
day is what is working best as a CD ripper for those who have updated to
windows 10? My CDEX 1.79 is ripping ok as long as I don't try to do anything
in Options which is not acceptable. Also I have tried all the google links
for 1.79 and I cannot download any of them. Even if someone sends me the
file it seems to choke on my machine.

Re: Looking for An Accessible CD Ripper

2015-02-11 Thread Evan Reese
One reason for a profile that I can think of is how you want the program to
handle track titles. For example, for a single artist CD I don't want the
artist's name to appear in the title of every track. However, for a various
artists compilation, of which I have quite a lot, I do want the name of the
artist to appear in each track title.
That's just a small example. There may be other reasons to have profiles,
but I can't think of any right off the bat.

Yes, it is indeed from POIKOSOFT. And yes, it is almost completely
accessible so far as I can tell with my Window Eyes 8.4.
There are a couple of unlabeled buttons, but it's not hard to figure out
what they do from hitting them. For example, there's a button to let you
browse to where you want it to put the files it rips, but my Window Eyes
doesn't say Browse. Also, I can't find any Save button in here anywhere,
so

I need to check to make sure it still has my settings whenever I open it.
You can edit profiles, but I still haven't totally got the hang of how to
save them exactly. And when you try to delete a profile, it starts at the
top of the list, and not on the profile your cursor is on when you go into
the Edit Profile dialogue box.
Still, it is working very well overall.

Is this a Poikosoft product, that is entirely accessible? Has not been my
experience in the past. Of course, you said you were using Window Eyes,
weren't you? I only have Jaws versions 14 and 15 running on a Windows 7 64
bit desktop. Enlighten me, please?

Thanks so much! It is indeed easy to install, and easy to set up. It's
completely accessible. I just ripped my third CD with it. Well, my fourth
actually. I had to rip the first one twice because I didn't have the
filename and folder settings right the first time.
It works fantastically.
Thanks for the great help.

Try Express Burn from NCH software. It is accessible, and it will get you
the tag information.

Subject: Looking for An Accessible CD Ripper

Hey Guys,
I tried to install and use two CD rippers today without success.
First, I tried to install the latest CDEX. After three tries, I finally
found a site that actually let me download it. The first one said the page
could not be displayed, the second and third had download links, but nothing
happened when I hit them. One even said my program was downloading, but my
IE11 didn’t download anything. Finally, I downloaded the file and tried to
install it. It wanted to install three third party programs, AdAware, Tune
Up Utilities, and (I think) Pluto TV. My Window Eyes 8.4 could find no check
boxes to select whether to not install these, so I just clicked Next and
figured I’d uninstall them after I got CDEX successfully installed. However,
when I hit Next after Pluto TV came up, it asked me to select an option and
an Okay button came up. I reached an impasse at that point, since I couldn’t
see how to select the option.

So that was the end of trying to install CDEX.
Then I tried VLC Media Player. Installing that was easy. Then I brought up
the instructions on how to rip CDs with it that Dane so thoughtfully
provided a while back. However, not all those controls in setting up the
ripping process are accessible for me with Window Eyes 8.4. For example, I
cannot check the CD check box. It just won’t change from Unchecked no matter
how many times I hit the space bar. I can’t even get it to play a CD that’s
in the tray. I know it plays because I can bring up Winamp and play it. The
problem with Winamp of course is that it doesn’t know what it’s playing
anymore, so I’m trying to find a ripper that knows the tracks.
I looked up Exact Audio Copy, but it looks intimidatingly complicated to me
frankly.
So, anybody got any suggestions for an ACCESSIBLE ripper that I can try that’s
not overly complex, but that will produce reasonably good results.

I’d really appreciate some advice.
Oh, how I miss being able to do the job with Winamp!

Hey thanks for that. I didn't think of looking at NCH Software, even though
I have, and really like, their Switch Audio Converter. And it is completely
accessible and fast as well.
I've got EZ CD Converter installed here and working well, but I am still
going to take a look at Express Burn, if only because I was so impressed
with Switch.

Thanks.
