Re: Goldwave Questions and Migrating to Sound Forge

2015-07-20 Thread Joe Paton
Samuel,

1. go to the view menu. arrow down to auto scroll-lock, if not checked check it
by pressing enter.

the shortcut is control-l.

Now your arrow keys will move in acordance with the zoom ratio.

You might want to set up what the playback keys do,

press f11, and make changes in the first property sheet, play control.

hope it is simple as this.

Wouldn't change to sound forge, unless what you want it to do, it will do
better than GW.
or, of course you enjoy working with alternative audio editors. equally
justifyable.

Re: goldwave questions

2010-05-02 Thread JULIE RODAWAY

Hi Rob

Go into the control properties with F11. Then, look for the volume tab.

After you see the mike volume, there should be an option to check or
uncheck. Don't check it.
Scrolling on, you should see options for stereo mix. Make sure options here
are checked.

This should allow gold wave to capture audio from your soundcard so it
should catch the audio streams from the web, providing you have them running
through that.

Hope this helps. Any clarification needed, get back to me and I'll be
pleased to further assist.

Can you kindly tell me how to record streaming audio from the web using
Goldwave? I have looked through the user control preferences tabs and find
no option that allows recording from the web. Perhaps a stream ripper is
required to capture the streaming web audio which is then loaded as a
supported GW file? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Dan.
When you purchased your licensed copy of Goldwave you should have

received
an email containing your product User ID and authorization code

key. These
are then entered in the user control preferences dialog box.

However, I
won't swear to it as I am unable to locate the authorization

codes entry
field in my GW interface. THis is probably because this filed

may have
disappeared after my copy was automaticly validated. At any

rate, I have
found the Goldwave on board help files very helpful in enabling

me to use

the Goldwave record and playback interfaces very effectively and
confidently.

As for your second question, I will defer to others as I am also

curious as
to how to capture a web audio stream with it. This may take a

stream wripper
to capture the streaming audio into a Goldwave supported file

format.

Hopefully we will both get an answer soon.

Does Gold Wave have a scheduler? I use Total Recorder..and it does
fine; was just wondering about Gold Wave (if it has the capability to
schedule a recording when you're not there as Total Recorder will
do)..while I have it on my mind, I'm wondering how it is that I'm making
MP3 recordings with Total Recorder if I do not have the Lame Encoder?
I've heard that one __must_ have this in order to make MP3 recordings!
But as far as I can tell, I have no lame Encoder on here! Could it be
that it's in Total Recorder somewhere?

Re: goldwave questions

2010-05-02 Thread Rob Tabor

Hi, Tom.
Tlad I could help you discover that you have the lame MP3 encoder after all.
Unfortunately, I will have to defer to other listers who have experience
using Total Recorder to tell you how many bit rate and sampling rate options
it has. BTW, one of the first things you'll want to do in Goldwave is to set
your record time to unbound. This control is found in the user control
preferences which is accessed with the F11 key. Then type ctrl+ttab to get
to record preferences and tab through this dialog.

Another trap for the unwary with Goldwave is that the video intercept
manager of JAWS may conflict with the video attributes in goldwave which
control how the visual wave form presents itself on screen. I learned the
hard way by having JAWS crash about every 20 minutes or so during normal
record and playback. To head this off, go to the video attributes tab in
your control preferences menu and set any video controls you can to blank.
These changes in video settings has completely resolved the JAWS video
conflict. I don't know what screen reader you use, but it's logical to
surmise that if you have this kind of problem with your screen reader the
cause and the solution will probably be the same.

Good luck with Goldwave and have fun!
Best regards

Hello Rob and list: Yes..that was most helpful in solving this lame
Encoder mystery! I searched..and found that there are four occurrences
of that Lame encoder..I remember someone saying on this list that, in
order to make MP3 files, one _had_ to have the Lame Encoder in order to
do this! There was nothing in the programs menu that indicated that I
had it; nor did I see anything in Add/Remove programs, so I was somewhat
mystified! I know I have recorded and played countless MP3 files..but how
could this be if I didn't have the encoder? Guess it's all in knowing
what the exact name is..and knowing exactly how to go about looking for
it! Also..I thought this was the case concerning Gold Wave (that you
couldn't schedule it to record when you weren't going to be around)..I
actually did download what is supposed to be a trial version of Gold
Wave..but haven't done anything with it yet; I mainly had wanted to get
Gold Wave so I would have more flexibility of changing bit and sample rate
in files if I needed to (Total Recorder will do this)..but as I understand
it, Gold Wave will give you more choices! Is this correct?

Re: goldwave questions

Does Gold Wave have a scheduler?  I use Total Recorder..and it does fine;
was just wondering about Gold Wave (if it has the capability to schedule a
recording when you're not there as Total Recorder will do)..while I have it
on my mind, I'm wondering how it is that I'm making MP3 recordings with
Total Recorder if I do not have the Lame Encoder? I've heard that one
__must_ have this in order to make MP3 recordings! But as far as I can
tell, I have no lame Encoder on here! Could it be that it's in Total
Recorder somewhere?

Hello Tom and List.
I'm not aware of an automated recording scheduler in Goldwave unless there
is a plugin available. The Lame MP3 encoder's file name is

lame_enc.dll.
Hope that helps

Re: goldwave questions

2010-05-01 Thread Rob Tabor

Hi, Julie and all.

Best regards
Rob Tabor

Re: goldwave questions

2010-05-01 Thread Tom Kaufman
Hello Rob and list: Yes..that was most helpful in solving this lame
Encoder mystery! I searched..and found that there are four occurrences of
that Lame encoder..I remember someone saying on this list that, in order
to make MP3 files, one _had_ to have the Lame Encoder in order to do this!
There was nothing in the programs menu that indicated that I had it; nor
did I see anything in Add/Remove programs, so I was somewhat mystified! I
know I have recorded and played countless MP3 files..but how could this be
if I didn't have the encoder? Guess it's all in knowing what the exact name
is..and knowing exactly how to go about looking for it! Also..I thought this
was the case concerning Gold Wave (that you couldn't schedule it to record
when you weren't going to be around)..I actually did download what is
supposed to be a trial version of Gold Wave..but haven't done anything
with it yet; I mainly had wanted to get Gold Wave so I would have more
flexibility of changing bit and sample rate in files if I needed to (Total
Recorder will do this)..but as I understand it, Gold Wave will give you more
choices! Is this correct?

Re: goldwave questions

2010-05-01 Thread Rob Tabor

Hi, Dan.
When you purchased your licensed copy of Goldwave you should have received
an email containing your product User ID and authorization code key. These
are then entered in the user control preferences dialog box. However, I
won't swear to it as I am unable to locate the authorization codes entry
field in my GW interface. THis is probably because this filed may have
disappeared after my copy was automaticly validated. At any rate, I have
found the Goldwave on board help files very helpful in enabling me to use
the Goldwave record and playback interfaces very effectively and
confidently.

As for your second question, I will defer to others as I am also curious as
to how to capture a web audio stream with it. This may take a stream wripper
to capture the streaming audio into a Goldwave supported file format.
Hopefully we will both get an answer soon.

Best regards

Hello,
As to the fast forward and rewind options, set those in the play menu.
My demo version has expired so I honestly can't remember where it is but you
can speed it up to like 5 times the normal speed and it sounds just like a
tape recorder rewinding and fast forwarding.
